Cosplay tips

well I'm going to my second anime con soon and well I'm doing my second cosplay(which I'm done the costume) but I need tips for future cosplay(just give me all u cosplayers know). I will cosplay as Misa(movie ver.) from death note at my 3rd anime con or even Rin from Fate/stay night.so any tips on making any cosplay costumes and sites I can visit to know how to make cosplay stuff??
