My 4th daughter Vivio!
Like a bunch of people here I finally got my DD from Dolpa 23 (from Volks USA) last week. YAY!
Vivio is actually made from the MDD Maria from Umineko with some modifications. I really liked the original doll but thought she'd make a cute Vivio from Nanoha Strikers.
I had her school uniform made but I did customize the wig myself. For a first attempt, not bad, I think ^^;. But I don't think I have the hair color quite right yet. It's a little ginger but I think I need something more orange. I've looked everywhere to find something closer but haven''t been able to find one yet. Anyone have any suggestions?
The hardest thing I had to do was to open the head to change the eyes. I was so scared since I've never done it before. Then I had to blow dry the back a bit since the original eyes were glued. It came loose after a min or so blow drying it. Then I got the excess glue out and put the new eyes with some putty to hold it. I think I almost had a heart attack doing this. lol.

if you have a Japanese stationary store near you, check out their eraser section. A lot of the food shaped ones are DD size.

the clothes i had to have custom made but the wig i got here: http://www.monique.com/ but I did have to cut and style it myself

How do you buy from Dolpa? Is it available to those outside of the US? Really want to customize a doll, as I have a number of characters that I love to have a doll representation of. It's just that I have no idea where to begin due to my absolute NOOBness with them. (^.^) (Not to mention, it would be a hassle financial wise as well.)
Just an observation. It seems that Figure.Fm is slowly turning into Doll.Fm, what with so many doll posts and mostly doll posts being popular.

Buying from a Dolpa is partially a matter of timing, and partially a matter of luck. You'd be making your purchases through the Volks International website, during the online After Event a couple weeks after the main Dolpa; however, Volks doesn't let you just simply add the doll to your shopping cart. There's a time period where you can place your order, and then once that time period is over they draw people randomly in order to determine who actually gets to buy the doll. This may seem unfair at first, but if you look back through the Figure.Fm archives you'll find why they do this: at last year's DD Gathering, Volks International tried to let people order Moe and Natsuki in the normal fashion, but there was such a rush that the server went a little bonkers and nearly crashed, adding and removing items from people's shopping carts at random when it wasn't just plain timing out.
However, if you're thinking of making a custom, you should consider using one of the four standard heads before busting your wallet on a limited. =P You'd be surprised at how much variety you can get just out of those four by getting creative with the faceup alone: http://momo-man.net/top_frame.html (you want the first link on the left). Granted, if you have a very particular vision, these might not quite cut it, but I figured I'd throw it out there since the blank standard heads are a lot easier to come by and are therefore a lot less expensive.

Thank you! I actually bought that Ranka outfit at YAJ. I'm thinking of making a custom Ranka DD in the near future. Right now the outfit is being worn by my custom Fate-chan doll for fun.

Thank you! To be honest I prefer the DDs more but the MDDs are super cute and I think some characters can only be made in MDD form.
