Otacool 3

Got my copy today. I guess this is a mini-review. Although I think Danny's post pretty much covered it all ^^

My favorite part about the book was that it featured desks of different professionals in the industry (from designers to writers to doll makers, etc). It was very interesting to see how they organized their desks and reading some fun tidbits about the creators themselves . I particularly enjoyed reading about the figure sculptors. This covers the first 36 pages of the book.

As Danny mentioned Kotobukiya only picked one desk to represent each country in a 2 page spread. So this is a little different from the format of Otacool 1. This covers page 42-89.

From what I can tell, almost all the entries at figure.fm were featured in the next 30 pages. So everyone got a 1/4 page space in the book which had your name, age, job title, website and comp specs. Because of the space limitations, the pictures are a little small. I think someone mentioned in Danny's post that it seems this book kinda functions more like a mini directory of DC users, I have to agree.

The last 5 pages are about Danny and the evolution of his desk. It was really fun to see how it's changed over the years.

Overall, it was a good book. I really do enjoy the Otacool series. I especially enjoy the parts where they feature professionals in the industry. I hope they continue this for the other books. For example if they made one for dolls, I think it would be great to see how dolls are created, who designs the clothes/patterns/wigs etc and how they do it. A book about mech designers/gunpla makers could also be interesting.

Anyway, I'm sure when you saw this post, you were more interested in seeing if it contained the list of people who made the book...here you go...I apologize for any errors in spelling, etc...
