Anime craze and DC Group Build WiP
Anyone still doing their WiPs for the DC Group Build?
Continuing from my Last WiP Post
Original Group Online Build Post
T_T -I did find out that the MAC Contest is in an age group that I do not belong... Oh well, I'll find use for them later... Therefore, Trying to build three HG 00 Gundams!

You know, it's not a bad HG, quite posable, and with a stand, 00 Raiser can look even more gracious... BUT THE CLEAR PARTS... Anyway, I am going to see how I am going to paint these clear parts in a different WiP... Especially since I don't want to open a bottle of paint with this hot weather....

stack is becoming smaller and smaller~ yay~
still wanting to buy more HG models (Astraea and Avalanche Exia, to be specific)
and that is compared to my first WiP post....

shameless ploy to showcase my collection (since I finally made space for them, and threw out all the old books I did not want displayed)

But this is the main topic of today~
At a Japanese grocery store, I saw this magazine (only the top half), and I saw the big bold letters "ANIME", so I was curious and picked it off the shelf... Amazed that K-On was on the front cover, I sorta made an instant purchase and sorta skimmed through the magazine, where it talked about the Anime business.
(shameless ploy to show off that I did get ACE R.... Not used to the damn controls... Also in game stuff is fine, what bothers me are the prologue and epilogue after the battle... The character cut outs... GOD DAMN THEY LOOK HORRIBLE)

Talks about how the change of "otakuism" (probably not an official word, so I made it up now, and I call it mine!) is affecting the anime business. That picture is a good example, basically showing us the old otaku to the new. It's also saying that the change of otakus from heavy to light is fueling the move of otaku and anime culture...
Although, I have a really BAD feeling that this movement may be straying towards the wrong direction, giving us viewers half assed anime series.

The Eva Effect of Anime v. The Gundam Effect of Anime.
...I still hate Eva, but I will acknowledge it's "greatness" and how people became so obsessed with it. I will remain hardcore gunota until I die, even though if asked what is a good Gundam series to watch, I wouldn't be able to give one out, since all the animated ones are mediocre at best. Even if Gundam UC changes this opinion (which I REALLY do hope it does), Gundam UC, imo, requires a lot of knowledge of what happened in the history of UC to appreciate the story.

So I watched K-On first before buying the manga. At first, I didn't give that much for the series until I bought 1 and 2 at AX 2009. Sure enough, I have been hooked on the manga (not so much the series), and the music. If they come to AX, I would surely go -that's how much I like them (same thing happened with this years AX, with Megumi Nakajima and May'N having a concert). But I SERIOUSLY did not realize the immense power and influence K-On has. I mean, people have been touting it as another moe anime, but I can't seem to believe that this could JUST be another moe anime. I mean, Hidamari Sketch, which is much more MOE than this anime has fewer followers than K-On (imo).

Another point... when has Yui and Mio hung out together like this on the cover/clear cover? I am trying to remember if they did so in the series or in the manga....

wow O_____O so many gundams nyah :3
Nice unbuilt gundam collection there^^;
On concerning the "light" otakus you might find this interesting to read. http://bit.ly/9xFh9I
Personally, I'm not against people like that but wish they delved more into one anime/eroge rather than switching from one to the next every season. Wherever this is going, it's not going to be pretty.
