Wow, that's the perfect size! Not too big, yet not small at all. Though I must say, the bust size tends to be a bit disappointing. =3

I wonder how much cheaper these would be, compared to the 60cms.

I think its not much cheaper... maybe 1k ...

I wonder why this body move so great, why can DD not move so great? -.-""" ...

I must have such a body but not because of the great size .. because of the good moves!!!

Aya: A Normal DD body only runs around 300-ish USD for a body only set up, so I don't see why a DDS would cost 3x as much(I'm assuming you mean in a set, but DD sets are still only around 5-600 USD). If I were to take a stab at it, I would guess that it would cost the same amount as the current DDII body, despite being smaller.

Gon: Wait... Disappointing bust sizes as in it's too small for your taste? I'm one of those of the reversed opinion... I think a lot of the busts are excessively large, and actually prefer M Bust... L Bust is about as big as I want to see for a doll... At least until they put out a better sculpt...

If anything, I'd like to see some nippage on the sculpt(not L Bust or DDDy Bust types, but a little something there).

Yeap, disappointing bust size because I find it too small. I million-percent agree with you that DD-L bust is already waaaaay too huge, and Dynamite is just impossible to look at. But in my opinion, the DDsister's is just a tinee bit too small. Though honestly, I don't find it much noticeable.

As for nippage, I don't think I'd like that! XD Nippage requires you to spend twice since you still have to spend for an undergarment when you wanna conceal the pertruding nipps. Though really, it doesn't matter, because undergarments come in pairs, and you'll need the lower undergarment no matter what cause.

I think they chipped off some joint covers to improve range of movement. Although, the downside of this is you lose some of the "muscle" accuracy of a Dollfie to a real human anatomy.

That's one of the interesting bits about doll design though. The balance of greater articulation vs the lose of smoother body lines. Personally, I like a elegance of the dolls more than the articulation side, and so prefer dolls that can be displayed with fewer restrictions of how much of little they must wear to conceal the joints...

I guess with some elegant clothes designs, the mere human eye can look through the misaccuracy of the doll's joints. My only dilemma here is... wouldn't it be a bit hard to look for a 50cm-fit set of clothes?

            Here it is:

It uses the same optional parts as the 60cm body - meaning it uses the same heads and hands. Putting 60cm heads into this 50cm body (similar to Moe up there) will make her look much younger than putting the head on a 60cm body. So the aim is really to loli-ize our Dollfies. XD

As for clothes, Volks are also going to release 50cm counterparts of the existing 60cm clothes. Though I do believe it's mentioned somewhere there that S-bust clothes will fit the 50cms for now.

SD 10 and SD13 items should fit a 50cm doll just fine as well. I highly doubt volks will make a DDS specific line of clothes though, nor would they remake 60cm items to try to fit 50cm dolls. Honestly, unless you replace the bust parts for some very oversized pieces, most S/M Bust items for DDII bodys should fit the DDS. The only things I would worry about being length of longer dresses/pants meant for 60cm dolls being used for a 50cm.

Now, that's much better articulation. Is 50 cm really considered short? Must be a perspective thing, as to me, I already consider 1/6 Scale huge.

normal DDII types are considered 60cm, so you are looking at around 16-17% height difference... If you pretend the normal DDII types to be standing at around 170cm(5'8"), a 50 would sit around 140cm(4'8"). I would say that would be considered pretty damn short...

quick revise... 55 vs 50, not 60... oops... the compairo would be 170 vs 155. Not a huge jump, but still half a foot if you compair that to 1:1 scale...

Well, more intuitive articulation at least. DD2s and DDDys can actually bend their arms that far, but because of the way the "secret" joint is designed you have to essentially dislocate the elbow before bending it. A lot of people actually went for years before finding out that their DD2s could do that!

The industry standard for BJDs is 50cm. with larger doll sculpts represending more mature characters. For volks, they've made 55-60 the range for dolls that are suppose to be late teens/more mature types. They don't currently make larger dolls than that, but it's probably just natural progression to create a line of dolls that are a different style, while reflecting their SD ranges.

Personally, I think you guys should probably not be jumping the gun on the whole "Volks is finally making a 50cm doll" gun. Technically, Volks started by making 50cm dolls anyway(SD10s fall under this range), it's just that with the DD line, they started at the SD13-SD16 range and went for 60cm(or was that 55?).

I get the feeling that those who want the articulation for their DDII/DDDys, you could probably sub the arms from a DDS onto the older frame dolls. but unless you feel the DDII frame is entirely insufficient in articulation, it probably isn't worth it...

I think in the volk's dollfie blog link, they state that DDS can pretty much wear the same clohes as DDII, although unless they make an L bust for DDS(and I hope they don't... we really don't need L busts for our tinier dolls... Dreading the possibility of them releasing a yo-sized DD, and it comes with an option to swap in a Dy Bust...), I'd guess that it'd be for S/M Busts. Alternately, SD and SD13 clothes should fit them too.

However, I am not exactly fond of anything under 60cm. I just love my huge dollies. I want to see a comparison of how much the height difference is. I hope that they make a DD3 and improve DDDy. I also admit I think the chunkiness of the DDDy is my favorite...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Moe/Natsuki (they used same sculpt for both) get put out as DDH-05.
