Figma Saber Alter & Shinki Kohiru
Obtained Saber Alter today and photoshooted Kohiru at Kiko Sushi Bar. I both reviewed Saber Alter and photo-shooted Kohiru ^^. Kohiru kept attracting attention, oi!

She's a bit hard to pose so pardon the simplicity >.<

Saber skirt comparisons. Just pretend they're dancing? ^^

Tempura Soba ^^.

Alter Stomp!

A cute female staff took this image of me reviewing Saber Alter in their restaurant. I kept being asked all these Anime & Japan related questions haha. :P

Kohiru waving a hello to one of the staff ^^.

Female staff took this image. She was trying to take a picture of both the Lucky Cat and Kohiru with both in focus.

Figma Saber collection now complete! Something seems out of place though....
Team Saber GO!

Nice pics XD All i need now is Saber lily to complete my saber set
Thank you, and good luck finding the rare Lily ^^.
Peekaboo!
^^ heh.
Wow lucky guy all the Saber's he could want :P
I whined about a design flaw in the Alter Figma figure to another blogger. I'll repeat it here. Pardon. ^^; And Artic-Kitsune, I like your blog, by the way. :)
If you look at every single photo of a free-standing unmodified Alter Figma, you will notice that not one of them depicts Alter in a crouching postition. If she is posed without the aid of a the stand, often, she'll be posed standing upright. Alternately, you can find a couple of photos of Alter with a boot stepping on a fallen foe. In this post, the fallen is poor delicate Lily. (This is probably the rightful state of their relationship.) :p
The cause of this is not an internet conspiracy. The non-crouch posing is due to a design flaw which does not exist in the other Saber Figmas. If you take a look at her ankle joint, you can see a spike on each of her boots which juts straight upward from the top of her shoe and naturally rests against her shin when she stands with her knees straightened.
The consequence of this design choice made by Max Factory is that Saber Alter cannot much lower the angle of 90 degrees between the axis of the bottom of her feet moving toward her toes and the axis of her legs. In other words, it is impossible for her to crouch unless you clip off the spikes. And if you think about it, you can't pose her in a lunge, either. It is impossible for her to maintain balance with a free standing pose that significantly lowers her center of gravity unless you straighten and spread her legs laterally in a split.
A better and simple design choice would have been to direct the spikes angled forward, not straight upward.
Aesthetically, I think Alter has less design flaws in her lower body than the Lily or "Blue" Figmas. Unfortunately, the beautifully rigid craftsmanship of her skirt plus the large number of sharp protrusions on her legs make her pretty difficult to pose, even without the ability to point her toes up.
I love my Alter Figma as much as I love my Lily Figma, but I have not been completely satisfied with any of my Saber Figmas.
^^;
Large comment, and thank you ^^.
I might agree with what you just said but I just got her so I'll hold off in agreement. Going to stay neutral up until I pose her during fall, when trees let go of their leaves.
As a photographer, I'll just find creative ways to make her stand in a combat pose. Thats what us photographers do :P.
Thanks for the large comment though heh.
I'll wait to see what you can come up with. :D
But I think Figma's Alter is about bluster before a fight and mocking after her inevitable victory. I don't think she is about getting into fighting poses and actually fighting. XD
i love these flexible rubber pieces for the upper arms.
Like the Blue Saber, Alter's neck is not centered pointing out of her armor.
XD
Lily is still my favorite Figma, but Lily knows that Alter and Haruhi are the boss of her. :p
These protrusions from each of her ankle joints are a serious design flaw.
:(
I wish I could tear off her visor without marring her hair. They're silly.
:(
I wish I could of done so as well but eh, doesn't bother me that much. It's a flaw but an ignorable one.
The only problem here is that the visor is attached to the hairpiece simulating the effects of wind or movement. The piece without the visor depicts limp hair affected only by gravity.
:(
This part is the only part I dislike about Figma Lily. If you lift away the hard skirt and look at her butt, a bad design choice by Max Factory makes her look like she literally has no @ss. :(
This skirt on the original Saber Figma is terribly designed. If Max Factory comes out with a revision of their original Saber with a better skirt design, I would buy it. :(
The design of original Figma Saber's neck and shoulders area is also poor. She looks like she has no neck.
Figmas Alter and Lily are two of my favorite toys in the world. They're beautiful and their faces convey a lot of cruelty. I don't regret buying them. :D
Awesome!
She looks a little down compared to the others. :)
I purposely put her like that because she's having some "health" issues. Her head ribbon (on the back) keeps falling off and her hip came loose. Need to send her to the hospital so she can recover.
Pillsbury Kohiru?
Colors match with soy sauce container... :)
looks like soba to me.
Fixed. I Don't know why I mixed that up. I even took a picture of the bill so I wouldn't make that typo >.<
Casual Saber looks depressed that she doesn't get a real sword like the others.
Poor casual Saber.
Sounds like she ran out of mana again. Damn Shiro is worthless as a master. LOL
Which Saber is his? Or do they all belong to him? :p
Maybe it's harder to maintain your mana when you have so many Saber's to take care of?
^^;
Poor Casual gets less attention because all she does is eat? XD
Sounds like a good subject to explore in a hentai doujinshi!LOL
i thought it's only mine that the color of this part fades.
i guess every saber has the same issue. =w=
well put that aside, nice saber collection! :D
if only i could buy them all... ,(=_=)7
Hello, kousuke. :D
Could you explain further what you mean by fade? If your concern is that the piece is purple, don't be concerned. The piece is supposed to be of a different color from the blue on the rest of her armor. :D
If you look closely, the purple might look "dirty." I think this is because Max Factory may have painted the purple over a shiny gold paint, which is used as border. But that's just my speculation. :)
yeah it is purple, well, the thing is, i bought this from 2008(doesn't remember the exact date) by order and i need to go to another country and didn't get the chance to wait for it, so it was left to my home country for 2 years. after 2 years i finally got my Saber T.T
when i open it, the color of rubber part of her skirt is kinda different. so i look at the site of figma and some blog reviews of it, and it's supposed to be blue not purple so i thought being left in the cabinet for 2 years and heat was the cause of it. but im not sure about it ?_?
Hmm, is it insanely purple that it pulls your attention away from Saber herself? And 2 years? Whoa O.O

You can see that the front is purple, not blue.
;)
That was weird. The above link redirects?! >:(
Here's the image I intended to link to:

WTH. The above image is too large. Sorry.
Arctic-Kitsune, can you somehow delete my above two replies? They were not helpful. I'm very sorry. :(
aw, in actars review it's blue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUm9ZsFlg3Y and from the official site http://www.goodsmile.info/product/en/380/figma+Saber+Armor+Ver.html
lol, im not sure anymore @_@
oh well, as long i got my saber thats fine with me ^.^v
Hello, kousuke. :)
I cannot deny that the official Max Factory promotional pics show blue on the Saber. Nor can I deny that Actar's Saber has a blue piece.
But if you fastforward to the 1:30 mark and also to 4:47 in Actar's review, you can see that the color is purple in the actual official anime art. It is supposed to be purple.
You can also see in the following link that Arctic-Kitsune's Saber's piece looks purple when it was first taken out of the box:
http://ghostlysubstance.swgbex.com/Blog/?p=272
Chag's Saber's is also purple:
http://www.hobbyhovel.com/2010/07/figma-saber-armor-ver-review.html
As is foo-bar-baz's:
http://www.foobarbaz.jp/figure/review2008/f_max_figma_saber_armored/
Mine and yours are also.
Perhaps, the blue is a rare variant. It's a lovely shade of blue. And as I said, the purple looks "drity" because it was possibly painted over a layer of gold paint.
At any rate, I can see how circumstances may have confused you. I just would like you to know that yours was almost certainly painted purple and not blue at the factory.
;)
whew... what a relief knowing it. that solves my problem. ^_^
thanks Launel for the information :)
I see you two did some investigating while I was away O.O Nice to see a "mystery" solved while I wasn't looking :p. Saber's front skirt armor is purple, and not blue.
wait O___O are those chopsticks set with kohiru? '______'
Yup ^^. Kohiru is a chopstick themed Shinki while she has a "sister" that is a spoon themed Shinki.
wow O_______O that's cute nyah >_____________________<
So how was it? were the chopsticks safe?
Food, the staff, and the photoshooting went better then I had imagined ^^. I wanted to try the chopsticks but was still afraid lol.
