If i wasn't a semi-fat ronery Otaku i'd do a Yui Cosplay now
nahh...just kidding, i'm not into crossdressing.
Since LowFatCheeze² posted his (or her?) loot today, including a lovely Stratocaster i felt the urge to post mine, i don't care if its a bit off-topic.
I started Playing Guitar about 3 Months ago, got an Ibanez GRG170dx first, but i wasn't very happy with it.
Some weeks ago i suddenly had the urge to play way more than ever since i started but the Guitar kinda turned me off, after some research i found an awesome deal for a new Vintage V100 Les Paul copy from england, i ordered it a day later and started waiting. (paid about 215€, its 100 more if you buy it here)
I've been playing it for two weeks now, and i absolutely love it.
Its well made, adjusted perfectly and sounds great, if i was good enough i'd probably post a sample with this lol
I'm surprised about how much i'm playing now, its so much more fun if you like the sound of your guitar/amp.

Since its not a Gibson/Epiphone the cutaway is a bit sharper than the Original, but i like it very much.
Looks like Gitah ehh?

Some detailpics ahead.
K-On! kinda got me into loving that Cherry Sunburst finish.

Some tone and volume knobs

One of the Wilkinson made humbuckers, they sound great, from clean stuff to heavy metal.

Best shot i could get of the neck...

Delicious Mahogany texture

Its official. That is the most beautiful guitar there is. And this isn't off-topic at al cuss its the same guitar Yui uses. So yea. You my friend, are a proud owner of a 100% authentic replica of Gitah.
Well not 100% authentic, but pretty damn close.
The exact same one would cost about 2000€ lol
I play a strat or telecaster myself. we should jam some time :)
Heh, I'm a guy lol :D That looks awesome, it's very clean and shiny, and has a kind of glimmer to it, like you just wanna play it so hard that it catches fire and then you become the next god of rock... or something along those lines!
WOW that is an awesome loot you got there! I myself was trying to find a similar guitar that looks like Yui's Giitah but I couldn't find 1 in that price range. Mind telling me when I can purchase the same one or look alike for under $500? Thanks in advance! :)
http://www.thomann.de/gb/vintage_v100cs.htm I think that's exactly the same one. It's 315€ + 30€ shipping to the USA. Maybe you can find a similar one at a locar store at your place. Who knows?
The link that you put up looks just like the new Vintage V100 Les Paul in this post, do you know what's the differences? Thanks again.
This one is a Vintage V100CS (CS for Cherry Sunburst), but i dont know if you can get these in the US.
Otherwise the Epiphone Les Paul Stadnard Plus HCS (HCS = Heritage Cherry Sunburst would be even closer to Giitah, i know its about 400€ here, so it should be in your price range.
Tokai does make some lovely Les Pauls copys too, but i dont know much about them
shpul i choice the Epiphone over the VINTAGE the price diffrent is not to much ??
The Epiphones are said to have some quality consistency issues, so i wouldn't buy one without playing it before, plus: in britain you can get the vintage for just over 200€, or the icon versions (aged) for about 270 (try dv247.com, in germany they are 330 and 400€, dunno why)
They are both good guitars, the vintage was just so dirt cheap to get, although it was a bit risky. (sending it back would've been difficult)
PS: its still best to go to your local dealer and try them out, i dont know how well the Epiphones are made, the Vintage is an incredible bang for the buck though
Epiphone is a subsidiary of Gibson, same as Squier is to Fender, and provides cheaper priced yet reasonably good quality guitars. It's like a taste of Gibson without the Gibson price.
As Nopileus said, best to try a guitar first to get your sound.
Investing in a Gibson is really for the serious minded musicians or frequent players (^^;) We have a Gibson SG Standard and it cost a pretty penny. Good thing it's being put to good use everyday.
hmmm I think to try out
EPIPHONE LES PAUL STANDARD PLAINTOP and EPIPHONE LES PAUL ULTRA II
option 2 is like a better option for also playing acoustic :p
Never buy a musical instrument without having played it and a variety of others first. The feel of a guitar is extremely important and will likely have a big impact on how much you end up playing it and enjoying it.
Do you happen to have a pic of the Epiphone Les Paul Stadnard Plus HCS and the prices differences between that and the Vintage? Also I heard you said " They are both good guitars, the vintage was just so dirt cheap to get, although it was a bit risky. (sending it back would've been difficult) " what's the risky part?
Well, i didn't get to play it, and if it had some defects i would've had to send it back to england (expensive).
http://www.thomann.de/gb/epiphone_les_paul_standard_cherry_sunburst.htm click on the picture to get more pics.
Differences shouldn't be big, both have simmilar specs.
Dont get me wrong, imho the Vintage is worth way more than i paid. it should be on par with the Epiphone quality wise.
Try to google a bit, many peoples seem to prefer the vintage over the epiphones.
One of the most beauiful Guitars I've seen. And it's a very good alternative if you can't afford a Gibson but you want to have a Guitar that looks like Gitah.
I once had a real Gibson Les Paul, I gave it to my grandfather...
I'm considering getting a real Cherry Sunburst Les Paul in the near future (although I don't think I'd go through the hassle of cosplaying as Yui either ^^;)
LOL 1800 EUR ++
you can buy with this much money many or all K-on merchandise :p
goodluck :p
"...its so much more fun if you like the sound of your guitar/amp."
Truer words have never been spoken. What's even better is that you are actually playing it albeit what I assume is you got it out of fandom for K-on.
I think about those poor replica Les Paul's that are just displayed as a trophy of one's fandom, begging to be played
Nope, didn't buy it for fandom, just wanted some diversion from my Ibanez "axe", and it is being played, even though i'm still no good.
