I also got a PSP specifically for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, which comes out this week. I haven't bought any other games for it yet, so if anyone reading this has a PSP, are there any games you would recomend for an anime fan?

I got a PSP a few weeks ago just to play Project Diva 2nd~ Maybe you could try it.. :D
I second this! I got my console because of the first Project Diva. If you're at all interested in Vocaloid (and even if not), you should try the Diva games :).
Also, I recommend the classic PSX Final Fantasy games from the PS Store. I've been playing FF VIII on my PSP.
I'm into Vocaloid, but I've always been weary of getting a game in Japanese. Does not understanding the language make it tough to play?
Not really. It's a rhythm game after all, so there isn't much to read. Plus, about one third of the text in the game is in English, anyway :D
I just watched some videos of it on youtube. It looks pretty cool, I'll keep it in mind!

Final Fantasy Dissidia is a great game for PSP. I never get tired of it. :D

if you like RPG's than maybe Popolocrois, or if you like fighting games more Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is good.

also recommending Persona 3 Portable, not that its actually out in the UK yet, but i played the PS2 version and it was awesome, Phantasy Star Portable is not bad either

Haven't got to it yet. I'm working on the original NES Zelda (I plan to play all the pre-OoT games in order). It's really hard!
