Mio Akiyama - Moe Moe Kyun!

Posted by otakudepot [www]

A few weeks ago I go the very lovely looking Mio Akiyama 1/8 scale "Moe Moe Kyun" figure by FREEing and finally got around to taking some pictures of her.

As soon as I saw this mentioned on Danny's site, back in February I think it was, I pre-ordered it. It was a long wait but I really love this figure.

She even has nail polish on!!!

The one down side of this figure is that there is so much black. I really love the look of the black and white outfit, it's very striking. The down side is that it shows the slightest of dust very easily. The base is a cute pink heart shape and has sparkles in it.

Yes, she does come with her blue/white shimipan. I think it's required now.

This is my favorite shot of the bunch. I finally got my back light high enough to have the backdrop go nuclear. :D

Ugh, can't even really see this in real life but the flash made it stand way out.

Ugh, yes it is. I didn't even notice that before. I was hoping it was just a smudge but it does seem to be a slight paint problem. Thankfully it's very hard to see in regular room light.

Wow, that last shot is pretty awesome - whats the setup you used?

:D My setup is pretty ghetto. haha I have about 3 large white foam boards to use for fill light and a background. I then use a 2nd flash (Nikon SB-26) to light the background separate from the figure. I wasn't using enough flash to make it go pure white till the end of the shots though.

For the main figure I use my Ebay lighting kit which is another Nikon SB-26 flash on a cheap stand with a white 'shoot-through' umbrella as close to the figure as I can. I'd like to get a small softbox as the umbrella is HUGE for shooting figures.

I've uploaded a pictures of my setup that "might" make it easier to see:

        Oooh, that's pretty nifty! Thanks!
I've used my softbox before with reflectors / paper to shape and diffuse light, never tried for anything that bright before though ^^

It might have to be scaled up a bit for Dollfies though haha XD

I did the pre-order thinking she would sell out quick. Thankfully I didn't pay that much more for her.

It looks like the paint is chipped here ever so slightly...

Yea, that was another one I didn't notice till I took pictures of it. It's on the bottom part of the edge of her dress so you only really see it when you look up her dress. At that time I guess I was distracted by something else and didn't notice the chip.
That one should be easy to fix with a little dab of white paint. (If only all my model building stuff wasn't packed away and I weren't too lazy to bring it all out).

*damn* her short maid outfit is so sexy, the striped pantsu is a nice detail.
Freeing sculpted her very nicely and close to her origin
