Gundam and Lightsaber effect

Posted by pus2meong [www]

Last night I made it to make purple color Lightsaber, using RGB led star. I also found some interesting camera tutorial for night photo shoots, and decided to try it by my self.
I spin the Lightsaber with slow shutter setting, and this is the result.

Mouseover = load notes.

Can you see my ghost?

    Interesting effects! ^^
    How do you spin the light saber? Is there any string attached?

      When using slow shutter mode, if you keep moving during the shutter window opened, your still-image will hard to captured by the camera sensor. Faster you move, harder to captured, especially for non light source object (human), but since Lightsaber is a light source, the camera sensor will be able to capture the light even when I spin it very fast.

        1 word. AWESOME! the first pic just reminds me of those ghostly movies :D do you mean you're running while swinging the lightsaber around when the final picture is captured?

          Thanks :)
          No, I don't have to run at all. I stay still when spinning the lightsaber.
          What you only need to do is make a movement. At the last picture, I standing 5 cm behind God Gundam and spin the saber without moving away from that location. And the movement not that fast, just regular speed of lightsaber spin action.

          Even slow movement like people walking on street will make a ghost effect if you use slow shutter mode :)

            Now that you explained about it, I noticed ghostly feet beneath the saber effects. ^^;

    I really, really like the first image. It's like you're an invisible light, and you got a bit of water on you, which the light behind you is reflecting off.

      This is pure camera result. Not editing at all (unless you count the nekoroid.com watermark XD)

    I love slow shutter effects! Great purple shade you've got there, too - looks quite authentic.
