I think I have a problem..... or two. ^_^
After last weekends doll meeting in Greensboro, I found myself trying to put all Manami's new goodies into the same dresser drawer I had been using to store her clothes and accessories. Unfortunately, I didn't have enuff room to store the new stuff along with the old stuff. Had I really gotten Manami *that* many things lately? Could an entire 1:1 drawer be full of nothing but Dollfie clothing and accessories? Yes. Yes it could.
I decided to go about finding a different way to store her belongings instead of using another of MY drawers. While shopping at my local Wal Mart, I found a really neat little storage system with 3 large sliding drawers in it. It wasn't huge but still would hold what I needed it to and it was on sale for $11.00 to boot! So I went ahead and picked this up to house all Manamis goodies.

It's just a hair over 2 feet tall and the drawers are quite large and deep. They slide in and out pretty well even with things in them.
Now, I did say I thought I had *two* problems. The first was storage of Manamis things. The second problem is one that many people here have and I really wasn't sure if I did or not. Even with a few friends here telling me I had this problem, I chose to ignore them. But after seeing what I had done and continue to keep doing, I have to now admit that I do have a problem. And it wasn't that evident until I was cleaning out that drawer to load up the new storage unit.
So here is my problem..........
I spoil Manami.
There I said it.
And how do I know I do, other than having friends tell me? That's easy. Please see the below pictures.

Here is Manami amid her clothing stash. Yeah. That's all her clothes that I have purchased for her since I adopted her. Scary, I know.
I really did not realize she had so many clothes until I laid them all out like this. I am beginning to think she actually has more clothes than *I* do now. Is that bad? :3

And here are all her playthings. Plenty of things to keep her busy and you may notice there are some new things there that she hasn't taken pictures with yet. Those are from Doll Market in Greensboro. They were having a sale there and with Manamis mom "helping" me look around, I soon found my hands full of nice, new things for my girl.
And yes, those black boxes to the right are wigs. New wigs from Monique Gold. Those will also be showing up soon in photoshoots.

And lastly, Manami stands triumphant in front of her new wardrobe container. It all actually fit in there with room to spare. The bottom drawer has all her packaged Volks outfits in it, the second drawer has all her custom clothing like d.ark's and Nightfalls and the top drawer houses all her accessories. It's all now easy to see, easy to reach and stored away safely so I can have my dresser drawer back.
So in conclusion, I solved one problem but still have another. Manami tells me not to worry tho as my second problem isn't really a problem. She says I am just a good Papa and she thanks me for it. Then she slips me a list of wants from the Japanese Volks stores. She is just as much an enabler of my habit as her mother is........ :^)

I use these plastic storage things for everything! Clutter that doesn't have a proper home in the house, all of my art/Gk supplies, Hairstyling products. I even have smaller ones for my makeup! They are quite handy! ^__^
Perfect choice for your dollfie needs
As I had not really paid much attention to this type of storage before, seeing this in the store just "clicked" and I knew it would be great for what I wanted to do. It's nice to see that quite a few people here use the same setup so I know I made a good decision on it. :)
Hey i have that same storage compartment lol But you love her so spoiling her won't really affect anything but where to store her things, i haven't been able to get my girls anything new yet so i'm kinda jealous, but i understand what you mean, start off with one thing and then you amass a bunch without knowing XD
I used to have one exactly like that, but then it became too small so I had to upgrade and the still isn't enough space. XD Ball I think you've come across something brilliant! We've been posting nothing but our daughters, how about showing them off with their wardrobe?
Sorry psyche I accidentally posted this as a reply to your comment.
Nice! Good to see I made a good choice in my storage case. And yes, I do love my girl so buying her things makes me happy. But like you said, you buy one thing here and another there and before you know it, you have LOADS of stuff! :3
I used to have one exactly like that, but then it became too small so I had to upgrade and the still isn't enough space. XD Ball I think you've come across something brilliant! We've been posting nothing but our daughters, how about showing them off with their wardrobe?
Wow... you had to get one larger than mine? O_o You must have quite the wardrobe!
And while my intent was not really showing off Manamis clothing, I do think it would be a cool thing to have people show us thier clothing collections! I know I see so many nice outfits here that people have for thier daughters, it would be great to see who has what hiding in the "closet" so to speak. So you'll start that trend for us? ^_^
I'll be glad to, I'll probably need the weekend to have enough time to do all this.
More like I have a good amount of props as wells. XD Saber's armor as well as Fate's armor take a good portion of space, not to mention shoes...and other little things takes up quite a lot of space and having 9 girls who all want something different space runs out fast. XD
9 daughters.... wow. I bet you have sooo many cool outfits for them! And I have yet to see any pics of Sabers armor or Alters while not on the Dollfie, that would be very neat to see how many pieces there actually are for those sets.
I can bet you run out of space quickly with so many girls! I kind of envy you but I kind of don't. :^)
I'll let you judge the outfits since I don't want to disappoint. I'll be happy to show all the pieces of the armors.
Well in a way I would run out of space quickly, but in a way I don't since I have so many girls there are more bodies wearing clothes, but I guess the amount of clothes equals to the number of girls. XD
Very cool, I can't wait to see your pictures!
And I suppose having too many girls is a good problem to have in some ways. XD
Lots of goodies for her to play with!
Yes sir! She is definitely hooked up on the goodie front. ^_^
And since I am coming over late next week to Japan to stay for a couple of weeks, I know that the goodies will only stack up higher after I hit up Volks, Mandarake and other spots in Osaka and Tokyo. I can't wait to actually be in the stores that gave birth to my Manami!
I have the exact same drawer for my girl , and I love it!
With the three drawers it allows me to separate all of the goodies from the clothing and hair.
Perfect! :D
I should do a photo like you have with all of the goodies I have purchased for her - it would be wild!
We spoil our girls , and love doing it - hehe
My girls -- and boy -- have two of these so far. All my 1/6th stuff, including the Horde o' Dolls, are in a few others. It's insane, I tells ya.
Very cool! So many of us have these, I don't know how I hadn't noticed them at the store before. but I guess since the need had not come about yet, that's why I didn't know.
And yes you should do a pic of your stuff! Sinistra also said it would be neat to see so yall should do those sometime! I think it would be cool to see other peoples collections shown!
Those plastic storages save me a lot of space in my room! I think your problem is equal of mine too...^_^; and i have two daughters now, and every time i bought new clothes i take two different pieces, dont want one get jealous to another.
Yes, it does save some room, thats for sure. And I can see how with two daughters, you can't spoil one and not the other.... you can't have them being treated unequally! ^_^
Ah, those drawers look familiar! I've got a set in my own closet storing an ecclectic mixture of office and craft supplies, resulting in odd combinations such as staples, rhinestones, and a graphing calculator all in the same drawer. XD
As for your second problem, it's not really a problem unless it starts to become an obvious *financial* problem. So long as you keep yourself fed and a roof over your head, what you do with your money is your prerogative. Though I'll admit a certain bias as I enjoy looking at your Dollfie loot photos and would certainly be doing similarly for Agatha if I had the money. :)
Heh, it seems my little "find" wasn't such a strange thing. Lots of people seem to have these units!
Oh yes, I make sure there is a roof over our heads and that all the bills get paid first. leftover mon ies are distributed between food, cats and Manami. I come in last on the list now it seems... :^) And I'm glad to hear you enjoy the posts I make with Manami. I really enjoy taking pictures of her and sharing them always makes me feel good too.
And Agatha has her rasputin now, along with minions and noms. That update was great, I had fun looking thru those pics! You don't always have to spend money to find cool stuff for your girl to use or play with.....
Those units and those much like them have been around for years. I had one a lot of my toys lived in when I was little, and my parents have one filled to the brim with crafty odds'n'ends. They're great!
Heh, true! I actually got a shirt for $2 at a thrift store that I'm planning to cannibalize into a dress for Agatha, actually. Then the commodity in shortage is time. . . I'm glad you liked the update; it was definitely the most fun one I've done so far. I've got to order a stand before my fall break so I can do an outdoor shoot.
This style storage bin does look familiar to me but I just never thought about using one before. I've usually had plenty of room to store things up until now so this one made sense to use since it was inexpensive and didn't take up huge tracts of land.
And there you go with the $2 shirt/dress material! Inventive use of objects is always cool to me. And from your last post, Agatha thinks so too. :3
If you want a great stand, get the one like I got from Cool Cats, the thigh stand. It's very sturdy, holds the girls well and has a tiny footprint compared to other stands so it doesn't take up much space on your desk or other area for display. It was a good price too so you can save some moolah!
Minami has a list of things she likes, and I have a list of things she'll love! XD
After seeing you in action this past weekend, I have no doubts that you are comepletely correct! I am just glad you don't have Manamis cell phone number or her email addy. That way your list won't get to her! :P
^^ I have her number on speed dial and her E-mail in my address book!
And you had best not share those with Ed or his daughters! :)
Ahh yes.... A sight too-too familiar.... My Yukari has amassed quite a cache of loot in the 2+months since I welcomed her into my family. Her stuff is moving into the cabinet I used to keep my cosmetics, jewelery, and such in.... She got new dresses on Tuesday, more goodies should arrive by the end of the week. I need to play the lotto lol!XD
Ha ha! You should also do some pics of her goodies to share! Especially with new dresses and such.
If your luck is good then go hit the lotto! If you win big, your girl can reap the rewards! :3
Ha-ha:) Now that I have some free time from work, I can get around to taking some pics<3
I shutter to think of what would happen if I hit the jackpot.... I want a doll ROOM, or a whole WING!!!! Chock full of resiny & vinyly goodness!!!!XD<3
When you think winning, you think BIG! I like! A whole wing devoted to dolls.... how awesome would that be??
I need some kind of storage box like this...
Hit up your local Walmart, they have them over by the school supplies and housewares. They also have them in other colors too like blue and pink. I opted for the clear and white one because it would go in any room in the house and not stand out much. And it was cheap too!
Clothes, I know but trumpet cards and record players? Christ, are there really that many goods out there?
Something tells me I shouldn't have read this post because Sora here is now giving me the looks urging me to spend^^;
Trust me, there were so many cool things at that doll store, I had to walk away before my bank account exploded. :) They had furniture, food items, shoes.... all sorts of doll sized things that were just really cool. I had a hard time holding back.
Tell Sora to have you check here http://www.dollmarket.com/ That's the store we met up at and it was a HUGE place. They didn't have any Dollfies there unfortunately, but they did carry some Volks stuff. They also had tons of accessories that are perfect for DD's there. That's what you see some of in that third picture above. Wait til you see the detail of the crayon set, paint set and the duffle bag and backpack I got there. Sooo cool!
And Manami says to tell Sora that spending money on her is not a bad thing. Sora has to keep up with her friends! :3
"Clothing price is higher than doll price" is problem that every parents would meet XD
Ha ha! I so agree with you! Especially Volks clothing.... those sets can be very expensive on the secondary market. But they sure are made well and fit perfectly.
Checking above-mentioned link.....@~@;
I need to pick up one of those storage systems for myself :)
I have individual storage boxes that look like the one you have and are stackable. They are totally filled up and I need more! XD
Heh, it's good to see other parents spoiling thier girls as much or more than me!
That is great for Manami to have all her things organized. That way she can find things easily. I have a lot of plastic storage containers too. I love seeing all the 1:3 scale items you find! I can't wait to see the crayons, paints, duffle bag, and backpack.
I agree that this way of storing things makes it so much easier to find stuff. Before I just had things in bags and not seperated out. Now I have each outfit in its own Ziploc bag, labeled and kept with like items. So much nicer to be able to find things quickly.
You would have *loved* to have been in the Doll Market store Terri. They had so many miniatures there that would work with our girls. I didn't even get started with the food/drink items they had in one large case. They had soda cans, bowls, cup sets, food items, etc in there and I already had my hands full of other items. So I had to put a stop on spending before I got in trouble. :) They also had chairs, tables, and other furniture stuff too. But those items you mentioned above should be forthcoming in future photoshoots. Altho I am not sure how quickly I can get around to doing them since I am leaving for Japan late next week. I have lots of things I need to do to get ready so picture time may have to wait until I return!
Should I be sad that I have about 3x that? LOL. It's so addicting.
Three times as much?? Holy crap that's a lot! ^_^ You must really love your girls! Ha ha!
You are correct, this hobby is VERY addicting but boy do I have fun!
Haha I bought that at wal-mart too. I bought 3 actually... one full of DD clothes, another full of MDD and 1/6 doll clothes, other filled with doll care material and hobby tools and stuff. And 2 big flat plastic containers that fit under my bed to hide all the spare wigs. Trust me it only gets worse and worse =p
I have seen those containers that slide under beds before, those are HUGE! And you have two filled with wigs only? Wow that's awesome. I'm glad I posted this because now I know I am not so deep into this as many other people so I don't feel so bad now! :D Unfortunately, Manami has also seen this and she says we need to catch up with yall to stay even. I wish she understood how money worked.... :^P
I have never been a fan of dollfies, but Manami is really pretty, and I've seen her in your previous posts ^^
Don't worry too much about spoiling her, she'll love you more for it, though she might want more stuff in the future xD But she's your little girl, and you have to please her, I guess :P
And girls need a large wardrobe haha :D
Thank you very much for your kind words, I appreciate that!
She is indeed my little girl and she enjoys me spoiling her as much as I do. Girls do need lots of clothes so I guess I am just doing what is expected of a Papa! ^_^
Yes Yes ^^ But material things don't make real love, it's your true love that you give her that makes her happy :)
That statement above is probably one of the coolest things I have read here yet. Thank you so much!
"Doll only!!, don't involved it absolutely !!! " eiei
Manami is very happy because she has so many nice clothes and very good Dad^^
Aww, thanks Ausra! Very nice of you to say!
You got her the guitar!!! Yea. I bet she loves it.
When I saw this in the store, YOU were the first thing I thought of! ^_^ And when I saw the price on it of $20 including the case, it was a done deal. Check out my Volks Dollpa post for pictures of her showing it off and playing it too!
You really have Manami setup very nicely there. I have to make sure I don't let Sakura see your post or she's going to start letting me know about more stuff she wants to buy. :D
Have fun in Japan, try not to spend too much. LOL.
I'm sure Sakura is going to find out anyways so you should just brace for it. :D LOL
And thanks! I will do my best to have fun as well as bring home something for Manami that she is not really expecting.... a sister!
wow, she's definitely spoiled! but doesn't all fathers love their daughters that much that they want to spoil them? ^^
nice shelving unit too, i should go get something like that, as I have no space for my books @.@
Yes, you are correct. She *is* spoiled and it's all my fault. :)
I'm very happy with the storage unit as it was very cheap and it works very well. Now I know what to get should her wardrobe continue to grow.
I have the clothes in a buncha see thru Ikea boxes... ^^;;;; a buncha... eek lol
Chun, I would think that around your house, there are NO empty spaces... just doll clothing stuffed into every available nook and cranny! :3
LOL actually I have a bit more problem with cute fabrics from Japan XD currently manage to contain doll stuff in a nook of the house husband called the "sewing dungeon" lol!
"Sewing Dungeon". Now *that* is hilarious. ^_^ I can so see you hunched over a table in dim light while chained to the chair mumbling to yourself about how you have to get this last outfit done NOW. LOL
LOL good imagination you have LOL!!
Those things can't hold more than 450 lbs of stuff. I know. Mom uses them for storing appraisal files in (Hard copies have to be kept for five years.) and the one we had in the garage collapsed after it got loaded with 5 years of paperwork.
I seriously doubt that any amount of clothing I could actually fit into this storage unit would equal even half of 450 pounds. XD But that's good to know in case anyone else is looking for strong containers.
