Mari's glasses cracked

Last night after work I noticed Mari's glasses had developed cracks where the frame connects to the bows. I might try coating the cracks in glue.

You can see a crack here.
There are two here. On the top and bottom.
Oof, careful with the handling and good luck with repair =X
This is unacceptable. You expect the best quality product from a company that charges you US$600.I hope Volks can send spare glasses. I saw that you were manipulating the glasses putting them on your other dollfies. Did you apply too much force handling the glasses? Volks probably made a mistake using a plastic that was not flexible enough or too brittle.
Many, MANY of Mari's owners have complained of the glasses being too delicate. A lot of people received them cracked and broken straight out of the box. Volks has even put up a "disclaimer" on their site regarding the delicacy of the glasses. :(
Yup, I recieved my pair of glasses broken straight out of the package.
The disclaimer is printed out and stuck in the box! Still, Volks could have left some space for the bows to bend out, or used better materials.
No disclaimer in my box. The website warning was also posted after I had already received Mari.
looks like that parachute landing was a bit hard on them.
Oh.....T.T
I think I just cried a little D:
Shame on Volks. Their accessories have very poor quality. :(
Some of their accessories are great. The DD katana, Kanu's dragon sword, Yui's guitar, Yoko's gun are all very well made. I think they just failed with Mari's glasses.
Poor Mari! I hope your repairs work out for the best!
If you look closely in "Fun with Mari" when Aoi is wearing the glasses in the close-up, they look a bit cracked there too. If I'm not mistaken, that was a bit after you received her. Maybe you received them cracked? I'd contact Volks.
Actually, I think putting them on Aoi is what caused the cracking. Mari seems to have a smaller head than my other Dollfies...
Crap. Volks needs to send out REPLACEMENTS.
I've also contacted them on the glasses. Waiting for the results of the damage report from the postal office.
It's very upsetting when you spend that much cash & get cheapo merchandise. When I was a kid, my Barbies had cheesy plastic sunglasses that survived all sorts of fooling around. Volks should do better:P
Honestly, this isn't nearly as bad as my Takara Cool Girls Motoko Kusanagi. Her sunglasses just seemed to crumble after about a year. At least Mari can look good with out her glasses!
This is really a shame. I hope the repairs go well and prevents any further damage.
i think volks noted something about this here :

Yes, these are what my Mari's glasses looked like before I touched them, but they actually were two seperate peices right out of the box!! I think the fine cracks must have been there before they were shipped. There was also another crack that was full-thickness and left a gap at the bottom.
I contacted Volks and they said that I needed to file a report with Canada Post, supposedly because there's no possible way that their quality control would allow for cracks before shipping. Canada Post unfortunately requires the *sender* of the item -- Volks -- to file the damage report. I wrote back to Volks, and they recently updated me that they have not heard back from Canada Post (not surprising).
Frankly, I'm very disappointed. The since the original two breaks, two more breaks have developped. For a $600+ doll, Volks should really have used better quality materials (like a rubbery or soft plastic) or at least offer replacements. At the very least, they should offer replacements for sale.
Good news though: I've managed almost invisible repairs to all 4 cracks. The first step was to super-glue the pieces together. That restored the stability and shape, but it left a whitish discoloration to the plastic, especially at the crack/join. This was really noticible. I was really upset at this point so my sister offered to help me fix them. She managed to basically colour in the cracks and white residue with a pencil crayon (coloured pencil). First she used red. This was a little too bright so she toned it down with black. Then more red, etc. The final result is such that you can't even see the old breaks.
Does anyone want me to start a seperate post with before/after pics?
Sorry to hear this, your's sounds much worse than mine. After I glue them, I'm thinking of loosening the screws on mine. I actually broke my perscription glasses and missed half a day of work getting them replaced because of an over-tightened screw.
Good idea with the screw, that might be part of it. I'm worried about even touching my Mari's pair now -- I'm really not going to touch them or move them unless absolutely needed. Good luck with your pair!
Just received my Mari but haven't unpacked her yet. Hopefully no damages to the glasses :x
Good luck! Even if the glasses come out of the box ok, they could crack from being put on Mari... Besides that and the usual outfit staining issues, I really like Mari.
