My semi-customized Sinanju. Painted with my "Charcoal Brimstone" Scheme with spray cans.

I live in Manila, Philippines and would like Bandai to make MG version of the Gerbera Tetra and a PG version of the Kshatriya.

LED Mod

Modded the mono-eye for an LED fitting. Not really an easy task, despite the Sinanju's huge head assembly.

> Img ID#8802 | New tab | Mouseover = load notes.
Custom Crest Stand

I had an acrylic display stand custom-made for this Beast.

> Img ID#8803 | New tab | Mouseover = load notes.
The Shield

The Shield. Carved out the material around the crest to make it more embossed and pronounced. The Textured black effect is done by using flat black paint, then "scribbling" the texture with a Technical Pen/India ink, which is actually semi-gloss. No top coat done.

> Img ID#8852 | New tab | Mouseover = load notes.
The LED mod

I was able to procure a few surface mount LEDs from a cellphone repairman and use that for the LED mod. I avoid soldering as much as I can, and used Kotobukiya Spring Units as the conductors.

The springs "clamp" onto the LED's contact points, but I also applied a small amount of superglue to secure the mount. I can't really show you the inside of the head, since I wasn't able to take a picture of the LED mounted on the monoeye assembly.

Flat Black as Primer

Gold as buffer base

Yamaha Red (semi transparent) as a layer

The Color Shift part 1

Now it's all Red

> Img ID#8907 | New tab | Mouseover = load notes.
The Color Shift part 2

Now there's a Tinge of Gold when the light angle changes.

How have you done it without using an airpen?! It's simply... amazing... Really, it's magnificent and you only used spray cans!!!

Very very impressive, artificial can clogging ftw~
How did you do the scraped effect on the shield?

Unfortunately, i'm more of a unicorn fan.

wow... how did you manage to get... those .... i dunno... natural black texture around your red
it look like sinanju fall into an oil field or, growing some mutation, possibly uroboros (resident evil 5)

LED schematic please, i really have to wonder how to fit LED on that small~ eye(not eyes LOL)

    • I wasn't easy, since the spray mist of cans are large and fixed I really had to control how I press the nozzle to make shorter bursts.

As for the LED, I modified the monoeye mount and used springs instead of wires as conductors. I've posted a pic of the LED I used attached to the springs.

You sir are a genius! That's one of the most wicked Sinanjus I have ever seen. Mad props to you for doing multiple layers with spray cans only. @_@ I can't even paint my gundams probably with one layer. >_<

    • Thanks man. The common "complaint" i usually get is that it's too grainy. Personally, I like the grainyness and textured effect, since it gives the kit character and makes it somewhat unique. Also, some of the same people who thought it was grainy thought otherwise when they saw it up close and personal. The grainyness is actually just exacerbated by the camera.

What's a charcoal brimstone scheme? Honestly, the finish is not so pretty. Looks like a freshly-cooked crayfish or crab. But congrats for having an entry.

i've been searching for custom painted sinanjus for 2 days (my love for the design just started growing like crazy in me^^)
and yours really stands out :D
a PG Kshatriya!!!!! (that's sick i mean, just look at the size comparison of the 1/100 resin cast kit) if it ever comes out, i hope they solve all back and front heaviness problems and that they include a stand ^^
