Anime Super Powers You Wish You Had
Last week, I posted on my blog "8 Anime Super Powers You Wish You Had". While I didn't get into it, there was an implied subject of high school insecurities and fantasies among otaku to deal with everyday high school life.
With the exception of the usual favorites like energy projectiles and flying, I bring in a couple of non-traditional super powers and tropes such as "glittering" and "Portable Party".
I also asked the question "What anime super powers did you wish YOU had?" hopefully to bring out some of those past high school insecurities and how people dealt with it.
Nopy came up with an interesting "auto-bandage" and "attraction" which were interesting and unexplainable phenomenon even in the Anime realm.
So now, I have decided to ask Figure.fm readers:
What anime super powers do you wish YOU had?
What is your reasoning for wanting that kind of power?
What are the cons of having that kind of power?

When I was a kid and everyone around was reading Harry Potter and wishing they were a wizard, I was watching DBZ wishing I was a saiyan!
I still want those powers to this day!

When I was in high school, there wasn't really anything iconic worth idolizing in my North American culture. Most everyone was just into sports. I believe it truly was the era of the Jocks.
Nowadays, it seems pasty and nerdy little pretty-boys with glasses are what people like. I still wish I had Saiyan powers though...
I don't understand the infatuation with Robert Pattinson that some people have, either. Most of the time, he looks like a sleepy, depressed bum with a stomach ache.
I think it's not necessarily what he actually looks like, but what he is portrayed as. Twilight's portrayal of him as a charming, handsome and powerful young man has painted him as such in real life too even though it could be far from the truth.
Women are in love with what they know about him, which is probably mostly from Twilight. Sheep is what I call them...
I think the power to control time would be extremely useful.
Btw, this is off topic, but you know when you make a post? For some reason, mine doesn't show up on the mainpage right away. Why is that?
Controlling time would be pretty cool. But if you look into the theoretical aspects of time control, it's just basically our own inability to perceive time in a non-linear fashion. When you're able to control time, you're able to either see your own future in one straight line, or you'll see the infinite possible paths in front of you. I think my head would explode. :P
Hmm the power from spike to see into the past. So I'll never forget anything just look back into the past when I want to know something I once knew xD

Photographic memory can be pretty cool. But damn, it would suck if there was something you really wanted to forget. I guess that's where Spike's "power" shines in that he selectively recalls what he needs. :P

How would you ever get away with it though? At least with a Final Flash, you would completely disintegrate your opponent.
Hm for me it would probably be teleporting and Naruto's Kage-Bunshin. Those could be incredibly handy in daily life xD
Or maybe a "Town Portal" to my home.
Indeed teleportation would be pretty handy. That was my choice too!
When I watched Nanoha A's and learn about the Belkan magic, I said oh I want that but I still don't know what types I want so I leave it out. XD Not until I watch Railgun, I said to myself why not an esper power, I chose an electric light which is might be similar to Misaka Mokoto's power.
I like the idea of electrically charging a penny and using it as a railgun. It just sounds so cool!
If I'm not mistaken Kiyama Harumi did that in episode 11 of Railgun, she emits laser from her hand. Probably this power can do more than just railgun.
I suppose some amalgamation of powers that some of the contractors from Darker than Black would be coold to have. Though, having to go through some of the remunerations would probably get kind of annoying. Kage Bunshin from Naruto would be cool, too.
The ability to control an inanimate or animate object by will a.k.a. Psychomancy
Or/And
The ability to transform into a desired form and have different forms like any super toku hero/villain a.k.a Henshin
Or/And
The ability to go all out, go wild, obtain the strength of a million men and feel no pain but pleasure on each pain and a soul of unbreakable willpower that makes you smile like a kid in a toy store when your'e in hell a.k.a Berserker
Why would I want that hmm? Let's see.....

I was a helpless little kid who got dominated by everybody and was weak and all that jazz. Long story short what made them strong, happy, and fulfilled today is all thanks to me being used as a bridge for their selfish goals.
Now my insecurities are:
Unable to control anything and everything that occurs *in which it also includes myself*
Unable to do anything by taking a stand
Unable to fight and take anything and everything using raw strength both figuratively and literaly.
Now It maybe weird coming out from myself but I'm looking at it very honestly since all of us has weaknesses. I assure that my true analysis about myself is at its 100% accuracy.

That's actually very interesting. It's almost like a psycho-analysis of yourself! I didn't think that anyone would post something so deep, but I'm happy that you did. :)
The Berserker ability sounds super awesome, and I can understand where that comes from in a high school setting.
Even though I've been through a lot in high school too, outside of the Dragon Ball Z scope of revenge and inflicting physical pain on others, I really just wanted to feel like I belonged. Hence for me, teleportation, shape-shifting, and portable party were a few of my favorite fantasies. ^^
I agree about yours. Funny thing is like almost everybody liked to be a berserker. It's pretty obvious. *chuckles*

thanks! I've always believed that solving violence with violence only brings more violence. Unless of course you can outright eliminate the people involved to break the chain of recurrence, but that hardly seems possible, since everybody knows everybody to an nth degree.
Not to mention that for some people, karma does happen. I remember driving up to a full serve gas station a few years back, and one of the bullies I knew back in high school was the one pumping gas for me. I felt sorry for him, but at the same time felt that he deserved nothing more.
Wow how lucky for you. Now the bully fills gas for you aint that sweet?
sometimes in order for them to have Karma you gotta give them the karma. I learned that from some people who Never gained justice which is Kind of depressing at times.
It actually did feel quite satisfying. I'm not sure if he recognized me or not, but it didn't matter. I wasn't going to rub it in his face, because that just wouldn't be the right thing to do. No use stooping to his level after all. ;)
I feel sorry for those who never gain justice for all the suffering they had to endure. :(

Isn't there a limit? It's once a day, and each person can only be controlled once, right?
I don't know if I'd be happy with that kind of inconvenience, but I guess it's still cool. I'd be kicking myself if I used my geass on someone only to wish I hadn't because I needed it in some other time.
Yea it does have a drawback but like lelouch I would use it wisely.
and there lies the tough part! You have to have incredible restraint not to waste your geass on something trivial.
I don't think many high school kids would be able to use that kind of power wisely. lol.

Me, i want 4 types of power (if possible)
1)to be Jumper/Teleport to travel or do bad X|||X
2)Control a elements to create a minerals or use as a savior
3)A thing in the look in a eye to command a person...no the entire country
And
4)To be Immortality (taking Damage w/out being suffer the pain).
I've always loved the idea of immortality. Sure there's the whole idea that your loved ones will die before you and you'll be left with endless suffering, but damn. Just knowing that you can sit and watch the world go by for eternity is rather nice still. Taking damage without suffering pain... are you taking damage and suffering pain right now? Will you ever be?
Controlling elements is cool too! Being recognized for doing something good for the world is always nice. Honestly though, nothing is stopping you right now for making such an accomplishment within your existing human limits!

The power to control everything and do anything.
That way, I don't have to make a choice ^^; but I don't want to get too omnipotent.
HOWEVER, I think that time control and teleportation/flying would be the most convenient for navigating high school.
Would teleportation and flying REALLY be the most convenient? Would you want people to know about your secret power? If not, how would you hide it from your friends? Every day after school, you'd be "walking" home alone. You'd have to always teleport or fly to inconspicuous spots so as not to be discovered.
If I could teleport, I'd probably find little use of it in public places.
That's true. But... it really would be useful to use, although I don't think I would use it in real life anyway. But time travel would be pretty inconspicuous. However, I'm not sure what would happen in the time you miss if you skipped to the future.
Yeah, that would greatly depend on if you actually disappear from the current time line. If you did, then any future you go to would be you suddenly have gone missing for several years or something.
I suppose if you do find spots to teleport to that nobody goes to, then you'll most likely be okay. I'd probably find way points where I can teleport into a room that's locked and only I have the keys. Or teleport into the school bathroom stalls before school starts.
That would be horrible! Even going to the past is risky.
I just had a horrid thought. Unless you could see exactly where you would teleport, teleportation is risky business. What if the teleporter got into an occupied bathroom stall? Or where a solid object was?
Ooh, how about the power to make Nendoroids come to life?

Yeah, if you teleported into someone, that would be disastrous. Probably very messy!

considering how much damage Chucky can do, I would be surprised if nendoroids at least cause some flesh wounds, and if they're lucky, cut an artery or something, if they got a hold of a pen knife.
They'd crawl all over you, and while you're shouting "Get em off! Get em off!" one of them jumps on you with a pen knife right in the eye. Ohhh the pain...

But, considering how I only have 2, I don't think they can overpower me in numbers. But if they can control the kitbash of Pokemon figures I have, then I've got a problem.
Most of our small knives require a switch of some sort. I don't even know if their stubby fingers can really work.
hmm I wish I knew Flame Alchemy(too much FMA) and had powers like Signum from Lyrical Nanoha(I love fire XD).I also may want a death note .

Oh, definitely Accelerator's Vector Flip.
Obviously, it'd have to be the power to control the space-time continuum. You could put your brain in hammerspace, and let it grow to hold in more memory! It's also an incredibly cheap way to cheat death, create new elements, and do other random things. Personally, I'd use it to construct a Super Robot, and go kick some ass/sense into dumb people.
If I can't do that, I'm fine with bionic prosthetics.
Well, you know the theory behind space-time. We perceive time in a linear fashion. It's a perception, so the amount of control you have over it would probably still be limited to your lifespan, which essentially means your cheating death would be hitting rewind all the time. Controlling space however, brings in a whole new element. But maybe space is yet another perception only? My mind, is esplode.
Super intelligence! That way I would excel in school and make any kind of impossible gadgets I want... In time it would be like doraemon's gadgets.. ^o^

Energy manipulation. Not only do I get energy blasts, but I can also supercharge my body (Infinite strength and regeneration), move objects (By altering their potential/kinetic ratios), kill people instantly (stop all chemical/electrical energy flow in the body), and so many other things.
kill people? So you'd use your powers to kill people?
If necessary. Sometimes knocking people out doesn't always work. And the alternative (pumping them with so much energy they explode) kind of leave a mess. I could just break the atomic bonds in their bodies, and they break down into their base elements.
Hmmm... have you found it necessary so far in your life? That you just wish you had the powers to do it?
I'd like to have Hayate's Butler Power. It lets him do pretty much whatever the time and situation calls for.
If I had the ability to teleport stuff around right now, I'd teleport my HDMI cables through the walls instead of trying to fish them around. SO FRUSTRATED!!!
it would be awesome to clone myself, hell id make them do all the work! wake up one day, make a clone and have it go to school or work instead of you lol, then at the end of the day undo the spell or ability and you learn everything it learned. (just like in naruto). in fact you could multitask and do several different jobs at once. hey you could even make multiple clones and study for a test at the same time. once you undo the ability you get X times the amount of clones as knowledge. (although im not sure how that works) but yeah clones would be the ability i would want.
Id would love to Be able to transform into a super sayin! Id be godly powerful, and could fly and blow anything upand look kool with Golden Blonde eye with electricity all around me.
Okay, pretty late to the game, but I'd though I'd chip in as well. Personally, I couldn't care less about flamboyant/destructive powers that are overtly flashy. I'd want something subtle that would allow me to control/alter/manipulate things that go on behind the scenes and without notice. Why? Because usually this would mean that it would be far easier to get away scott free and at the same time, keep my powers and abilities secret.
In no order of importance:
- Time Manipulation (Only stopping time required, but going backwards in time is appreciated)
- Invisibility
- Teleportation (Need not be a limited to places I physically visited before)
- Mind Control
- Mind Reading
- Morphing (Able to change appearance of self into anyone or anything, be it animal, object or element)
- Reality Manipulation (Ability to create matter and change the physical forms of objects)
and to top it off:
- Immortality/Indestructibility (Impervious to Death and Injury caused by Accident/Murder/Disease/Age)
I shan't go into too much details about what I would do if I did have these powers. Suffice to say that my intentions range from innocent to deviant to downright despicable.
Im so very late to the party, but...
Alucard's ability to make hot chicks his "servants of the night", if you get my drift. That power also seems to have the bonus ability to make said servants breast size increase over time.
Hokuto Shinken...enough said.
Power: I would kill for Guardian Characters so I could Character Transform and reform X-Eggs in my off-time ;)
Reasoning: It would be awesome!
Cons: Easter would be after my ass! D8
Apart from that:
Power: Sith. Specifically Darth Sideous/Emperor Palpatine.
Reasoning: Siths have more fun than normal Jedis. Plus, the Emperor can shoot lightning from his hands, which is epic.
And let's be honest, who wouldn't want to have their own lightsaber?
Cons:
1) If you were Darth Sideous, you would also gain his nightmare-ensuing visage, which I really wouldn't want.
2) Siths have pretty bad stuff happen to them
Darth Vadar: (Was burned to a crisp in Episode 3 and was killed while saving Luke Skywalker in Episode 6)
Count Dooku: (Has his arms cut off by Anakin Skywalker in Episode 3 and was decapitated shortly after.)
Darth Plageous: --did I spell that right?-- (Was killed in his sleep by his apprentice)
The Emperor: Need I say more?
