Sculpting BJD Dolls from scratch??
Seeing all the great dollfies made me (like everyone else :D) want one. But for me they are a bit expensive get get a hold of one.
So in a moment of what only can be described as insanity, I have begun to sculpt my own ball jointed doll. These are some pictures of how far I have gotten into sculpting the master for a mold and I wanted to share them! So far I've only got the head and torso (and one hand that is even less complete ^^;) They are still works in progress ^_^
Material used: Super sculpey
皆のドルフィが本当すごいと思うけど,まだ大学生だから,ちょっと高いですね。ですから,自分で作ってみたいと思っていた(笑)。これまでに作った写真をうpして、ぜひ見て下さいね。

That torso's looking particularly good, even though it has a certain exaggerated superhero aesthetic at the moment.
Since you're interested in making your own, I'd like to point you to The Joint: http://bjdartists.com/joints/index.php Stupidly, it's only visible to logged in members, but having seen some of the posts on the DoA subsection that preceded it, that community should provide you with tons of useful information on creating joints, casting your pieces, and other such data. Good luck with your broad-shouldered dude!
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Yeah, I think theres gonna be quite a few changes before I'm completely happy with the result :D
I tried doll-making once...I gave up after awhile ^^;;
I did however amass some good resources:

I also highly highly suggest Yoshida style Ball jointed doll making guide, it's a fantastic book. It even shows you how to make shoes and socks :)
One neat thing I learned was doing a faux porcelain finish that does wonders when painted on sculpey.
It's basically a mixture of one part gesso and one part modeling paste. Skin colored watercolor can be used as tint. Good luck!
wow Good luck! with that :) sounds like a fun interesting project ^_^
Wow! You have more talent then I! lol. You will have to keep us updated with your progress/
i use super sculpys too. though you can only use them for prototypes. since they still break easily especially if you make joints for them.
i'd like to share you mine
