Angel Beats disappoints Fans...
I'm not sure if anybody posted this here yet... but Here we go....
When P.A works announced an extra OVA coming out with the 7th volume of Angel Beats set to be released on December 22, 2010, fans were hysteric. Many theories came up such as....
- They will show us the past lives of the other characters
- They will show us what happened during Yurippe's 3 day sleep (How did Otonashi, Hinata, and Kanade get everyone to graduate)
- Everyone in the real world
- Most importantly Kanade x Otonashi
However.... The episode title and overall conclusion disappointed Angel Beats fans....
"Compilation"
The extra OVA that fans have been waiting for... For about half a year.... Is basically a recap episode of every single synposis in the story. Yes, this is a fan's nightmare.
And, in hopes of season 2, when questioned about it, the voice actors and actresses mentioned that they do want an Angel Beats season 2, although the Company said that if the series does have a sequel, all the characters would change.
Kind of sucks right?
.... But....
There is hope for us! Maybe Compilation means something totally different than recap, right? Compilation of memories? Anything like that? (Although most anime OVAs titled Compilation or Recap are all summaries of an entire series)
Quite disappointed at this :( I've been waiting for this all year!!

There's two things I hate about anime: filler and recap episodes. I think there's still hope that "Compilation" refers to something other than compiling everything that happened in the series into one episode, but yeah, I don't know why a recap episode would ever need to be included as an extra/bonus feature.
There was talk that the special episode would be one featuring Kanade and Otonashi in their rebirthed lives,looks like they didn't do it after all.But a compilation episode?That might be quite the disaster,and it'll affect the company in more than one way.

No! Not a recap! Why would they even do that? o.O It's only 13 episodes long. I think most of us remember what happened.
That's what I was thinking. I don't mind if they have new characters for season 2, but I really want to see who met up with who in the real world especially after Otonashi bumped into Kanade.

Im actually contented with its ending, actually satisfied with the anime ("What a shallow mind") and a recap won't do, if its a bonus they're talking about please give light to what happens after they disappear. Yeah I know they're dead they're in heaven etc etc etc you'll tell me but seeing the scene after the credits, were otonashi and kanade the only ones that were reincarnated/had been reborn? Did the others become water fleas? I also want to have more of YUI X HINATA coz I love them so much :D But I love Yurippe more XD
Yes, I am also satisfied with the anime ending and love it. But, seriously, a Recap? 0_0 I wanted an Otonashi x Kanade episode in the real world or or or how Otonashi made everyone graduate or or or Noda x Yurippe or something T_T
Uhm, for all we know, this could be a compilation of every unexplained characters' past life.

It sucks the Seiyuu's don't want a second season. I really enjoyed Angel Beats in it's entirety.
No, the seiyuus do want a second season, but P.A works said that it isn't possible unless they introduce new characters, because the others already graduated to the real world.

I heard it was an "Alternate Epilogue".
My hopes are still up for a bit more Reincarnated Kanade & Yuzuru screentime.
As I bring up a lot, think Kanon Kazahana, only going beyond the "end" point.
Kazahana filled in about Ayu's new hair cut, some other character interactions and finally ending with where she's waiting for Yuuichi (As shown in the end of the TV series).
I despise recap episodes, not only because they aren't really need but they are also generally a waste of time. The only time I can think of them being possibly needed is when you have a series that spans over 100+ episodes THEN and ONLY THEN you may need them cause there are some vital pieces of the plot you may just forget or didn't absorb.
If the studio and producers really care about the show and its viewers, they should make the final episode something worth while to its viewers. Not only does it leave a good impression on them for us viweers but it also makes them more money (what company wouldn;t want more money?) cause people are more likely to buy it maybe?
From this piece of news all I hope the last episode just isn;t a recap one, otherwise it'd be a complete waste imo.
I know, right? They have so much material to work with, and so much topics that they can turn into an OVA!
But what do we get? A possible recap episode.

A recap? Er..no.
I was already disappointed with the series. It started out so good and then so many things were happening all at once I wasn't sure exactly what their goal was, and I remember there were episodes that were fillers...and that was 13 episodes.
I was okay with the ending (albeit short), but I seriously don't want a recap. I'd rather they focus on what exactly happens after to the rest of the cast.
