My 2nd Exia

Posted by Ken Nguyen [www]

After my first Exia way back in August (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/kai565/IMG_2258.jpg ), I have always urge for another Exia all because of Bandai devil scheme of including the option for the R1 as well, which imo, look pretty awesome in it own right. So anyway, long story short, during my vacation to Hawaii, I accidentally saw the Normal Exia being on sale at a local anime shop, so, even though I'm almost broke, I still let my temptation get the best of me and get another Exia sigh

Finally, here is the result after one week working on it. This Exia is quite special because:

-- It is the very first kit that I have done weathering (please give me some advice to improve my newbie weathering techniques)

-- It is the very first kit which I actually own two of the very same kits. Yes, Exia is the only one which I have 2 =.=

Thanks, but to be honest, this is my very first time, so I barely know that I was doing at all =.=

Hmm seem like everybody own a Strike Gundam. I have yet to add the Strike to my collection yet, but I'm thinking that for my very first Strike, I want a PG Strike XD

Very nice weather for first try. Try getting to learn to paint the models too, it gets rid of that plastic sheen to it and overall makes it more "realistic".
Seems like your pen was running a bit dry when lining some panels?
Some tips on weather is to not just dabble the weathering anywhere, think about it realistically, so like if it's a land walking type of mech, there is going to be stuff on it's feet etc. I also like what you did with the left kneww pad, looks very nice.
One more thing, after you cut bits off the runner, use like a hobby knife or something to just scrape off the little bits which are left are the cut.
Keep on practicing and happy building.

That's pretty darn good weathering for your first try on a kit. May I ask how you achieved that?

    Love it, looks totally awesome.

Although it does look more like he went through a huge scrap/garbage can, but it still looks very nice for your first try.

Nice weathering, although I think it was overdone since Exia never left space since season 1.

But he did went through a major battle at the end of episode 25 and several other, so shouldn't it be cover in dust (gun powder and smoke) and black oil (from part blowing up) ?

Yea, it would be better to highlight battle damages instead of whole body :P

uhh use brown and black? lol
and you might want to add some more "damage" if your into that
-use some nippers or w/e to scoop out some plastic- but as always practice on something first

i also have to work on nip marks
