Agatha's New Clothes
So, I had some time last week since I was on my fall break, so I decided to take the chance and make Agatha some new clothes. She's been pestering me for a while for new threads, saying that she didn't want to spend autumn and winter in what she amusingly called a "pneumonia dress", even here in the middle of the desert.

A quick sneak peek at the finished results. She seems much more herself in this outfit, actually.

At first, I thought she was a little chilly or something--turns out that her old dress was actually uncomfortable! Oh dear. I think it's a given that this outfit wasn't meant for the Dynamite body, and may not have even been meant for L bust. No wonder she wanted new clothes.

And here she is in her new outfit. The skirt is made out of a shirt I got for $2 at a thrift store, and the shirt is made from just some fabric my mom had lying around.

Heh, despite the jacket's flaws, she seems pretty happy with it. Considering I'd never sewn before, and had no pattern to work from, I'm pretty satisfied too.

A look at the back to show you just how much I had to adjust this sucker to make it fit Agatha decently. I know the grey thread looks a little silly, but the only purple I had on hand was way too dark.

"This is pretty nice, but there's a bit of a draft in the front. . ."
I know, love. I need to move one of the snaps so it lines up better. >.<

We both wanted to do some more shooting outside . . .

. . . but the weather started getting rather funky. Seems it can't decide whether it wants to storm or not.
Also, just for the record, no, I have no idea what that blue thing on the parking roof is either, much less how it got up there.

"Well, a cup of tea is nice when the weather's odd. I do wish we had coffee though."
Agatha, after seeing what you're like after a cup of coffee, I'm thinking not having coffee around is probably a good thing.

She looks very '30s star in this outfit. Very elegant. She's ready for her closeup.
BTW Yumiko wants the lace dress/negligee...drop me an email and we'll talk price. Although I suppose she might have to fight Mitzi for it, since they are both under one roof now they tend to share clothes. And since Z sometimes wears Yumiko's or Mitzi's t-shirts and pants the contention is actually three way...omg what a scene! The both of them are pretty much M-bust dolls...Mitzi might have a bit bigger chest but it's only a matter of a couple of millimeters. In any event neither are L-bust.
Heh, thanks! Not quite as steampunk as I'd hoped, but still more retro and dressy than what she had.
Let me ponder and I'll get back to you. :) I also have some superfluous eyes, some of them OoaK, that I've been meaning to sell. . .
Fair enough. You've got my email address, right? msgeek703 at gmail dot moc.
I really like how Agatha looks in this shot. She is just cute enuff here to distract you from that certain look of danger she has. Very well done.
Heh, thanks! Once again, I'm very glad I redid her faceup after she arrived. She has so much more attitude this way. XD
Peekaboo pantsu! ^_^
Consider it a cameo of the first part of the sewing project. =P
For a first time at sewing, I think you did very well. Way better than what I could come up with for sure. She does look much happier in this outfit and I agree that it has a retro look that fits her well. Good job!
Thanks very much! I was mostly just surprised that the jacket didn't turn into an unidentifiable "tit curtain". *bricked* I just hope her Christmas dress goes as smoothly.
Oooooo... Christmas dress! I bet that is gonna be awesome! I soooo want osme little Santa hats and shirts for my girls. but I know it will prolly be next to impossible to find something that fits well without going the Yahoo Japan route and paying silly money for outfits. Maybe I'll get lucky and find just the hats for cheap at Wally World or the Dollar Stores...
"Tit Curtain"... best new descriptive for a shirt/coat/top EVAR! :D
I considered doing a little Santa suit, but they're a little overdone and not quite steampunk enough, so I doodled up an idea for an alternative: http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s126/Poofiemus/?action=view¤t=AgathaChristmasDress.png (Excuse the all to obvious laziness please. ^^; ) I'll definitely be making a mockup or two of the shirt though, since I want it to be rather fitted.
C'mon, be brave and try sewing. You know you want to! =P
I wish I could take credit for the term, but a friend of mine found it on some guy's blog, where he was ranting about how unflattering loose shirts are on busty women, and that said women need to "respect their chest-hams." XD
Thats a pretty neat design for a dress. I hope it works for you and Agatha!
I wouldn't mind trying sewing but my bear claws just don't work as well with small things and detail like they used to. :D
Wow. I bet the guy who wrote those terms gets *lots* of dates... :^P
Nice~
I envy those who can sew clothes for their daughters;)
Thanks! It actually wasn't as hard as I'd feared. All it really took was some patience and some tutorials from our lovely friend the internet.
The fourth and last pictures are making me feel guilty. *I'm almost done!! I need to finish the edges to make them look smoother/clearer!! And make sure the arms don't stain...trying a wire-wrapped steampunk look.*
Out of curiosity, why those two in particular? XD Still, I want to thank you for volunteering for the glasses; totally looking forward to seeing the finished product, but I also understand that life often manages to get in the way.
Great job! I liked the design of the clothe, very good for a first time!
I like the retro look! With her hair and face-up she looks quite elegant ^^
Nice
goog job!!!
Cute outfit^^
Going through all the doll posts now >.<;;
Congrats on the new clothes~
this pic and angle makes the top and skirt match perfectly ~
very nice photo ! =3
