Touring Rural Japan: Takayama Old Town

Posted by Fumika [www]

So while touring the Japanese countryside I stumbled upon the town of Takayama which is actually rated a whooping 3 stars on the Michelin Green Guide.

To those interested in Japan's anime culture as well as the culture beyond that, I thought I'd drop a few pictures to cater to that. Please leave me a comment if you like this sort of thing!

I've got the full writeup/entry on my blog over here!

Great photos, particularly like the one on your blog of all the Sarubobos. Did you buy one? I did when I visited Takayama earlier this year. I enjoyed the town, ate some expensive beef and went to an excellent Tofu restaurant. Didn't make much of their "morning markets" though but did really enjoy the Hida-Takayama folk village nearby.

I have tons of Sarubobos. People keep giving them to me haha.

I didn't visit the morning markets, not much of a morning person, but the Hida beef is so good.

Nah. it seems expensive. Riding the jinrikusha on your own is also so RONERY :(. But trying to take photographs in a group is also counterproductive, what a dilemma .
