1/144 Zaku Sniper Progress

Posted by Meimi132 [www]

Today I did another bad thing... and bought another gunpla kit... I know I shouldn't be... need to save money for uni, but they're much fun to build! Tis hell for your fingers too... And this is the first gunpla where I'm inking in the panels n stuff. But pleased with it so far, been using the useful guides, from memory lol, like how u clear away the excess ink with a rubber or cotton bud. Haven't cut myself using the craft knife yet though.

Which reminds me, much cleaner place where the nub used to be if I just cut it off, and not try to file it off lol. Am doing Zaku properly too. So very carefully, I ink as I go, don't think thats how most folks do it lol, but it just looks so cool when its inked!! I also decided to try using sandpaper to get rid of the rest of the nub mark that was still noticeable. And in doing so I discovered a nice way of making Zaku look worn, but not too battle damaged, just not brand new, which I like! Will be fun to weather it too, should be going to a big hobby shop tomorrow, most random place for it to be lol, back end of beyond, always forget its there hehe.

So, as you can see, I've got the head, arms, torso and guns made. I did made 2 hands after I took the pic lol, wanted to see if I could get it to stand on its hands lol. Tis a 1/144 scale. I'd been working on it since about 9 till 2:30, with a bath break in the middle lol, but its been nonstop, slower than usual, cos I'm making it look purdy at the same time hehe. I love the big gun. Such a pretty gun.
(Its late, therefore I ramble lol) One other thing, the thing that bugs me the most bout gunpla is how shiney they are, and I'm too lazy to paint em, so my solution seems ok lol. Well, for this kinda desert sniper-looking mobile suit its fine, not sure how it'd look on a lovely pink gelgoog...

I also forgot to say, photos are all weirdly lit cos I had my lame energy saving main light on, and my lamp above my bed for extra light, too yellowy by far lol.

I wuv how this gun turned out. I'm soooo glad I went back to the art shop to get a brown n grey liner, only bought black to start with, but when I got this, realised it would need other colours....

Had a little accident with the smaller black gun, the wobbly bit on the side which you can move, when I put it n the wrong way, and then when I tried to get it out, a bit snapped off. Not too worried really, cos its either gonna be holding the awesome gun or no gun at all.

Hehe thankies! It was more of a casual love of Gelgoog before, but now its turning into a full blown Zeon-gunpla-fest!! :woop: Though I might like an RX-78, just a normal one, no bells n whistles.

Go Meimi! It's always nice to see someone getting into Gunpla :3

I was wondering when you'll ask how to get rid of the plastic shine without painting it off :D You're going to a big hobby shop right? Try asking if they have one of these..

Or some flat/matte lacquer spray :D Quick Tip: Whenever you feel like spraying do it on a bright, sunny, no-wind day.. Also spray at least 30cm (1 feet)and no closer, wait for it to dry for 5 mins before spraying another coat. Finally, test it out first on the gunpla runners

    Hope this helps :3

You can also use two nippers if you don't want to sand. (cheap one for just cutting and precision/expensive nipper for cutting near the edge cleanly)

Another reason you might wanna use two is because if you happen to use an expensive nipper, you can use for long time because they do wear off.
