Lovers Again, 1/100 VF-2SS
One of the kit that i recently finished, VF-2SS is the lead mecha in OVA Macross II Lovers Again. The kit is one of my favorite Variable Fighter due to its Slim design too bad the OVA is possibly the weakest of the macross series.

Assembling the kit is relatively easy but you need to paint in order to look the same with the model shown in the instruction booklet. The articulation of this kit is not that good since it is relatively old kit and the Arms is the worst part for the articulation issues.

It takes me 4 days to finish this kit since i have to paint all of the parts, i used Black, Haze Gray and White spray paints for painting this kit.

Perhaps i should have painted the nose since the decal does not stick really well with the kit.

The backpack is pretty heavy which makes the Gerwalk Mode is humpback

Apparently in this kit you only get the VF-2SS only since the arm and leg armors are attached together with the limbs that makes me feel tricked by Bandai at first.

Compared to 1/72 VF-1A the 1/100 VF-2SS is just slightly smaller compared to it. It means that in real scale VF-2SS is bigger than VF-1A but smaller than VF-19 or other similar VF.
Review for VF-1A if anyone interested

The laser cannon on backpack is the strongest armament that VF-2SS have probably stronger than Laser cannon from the VF-1 Strike pack.

The constructing experience for this kit is enjoyable overall and i am pretty content with my results. The transformation mechanism is pretty good since the parts swap are only for the legs.
If you live in Sydney you can get this kit easily because i think one of the main hobby stores there has stacks of this kit which make me wonder how they can acquire pretty scarce kit in considerable amount.

my favorite would be the vf-19 excalibur.^^
VF-0S would be my Most favorite VF while VF-2SS ranks 2nd or 3rd in my list
ah! you like your VF's close to a real fighter craft. i like the excalibur since i like the berkut fighter, that and it's usually blue.
Well i like VF-0S mainly because of the Head design is the coolest in my opinion, as for VF-19 i prefer the test version which is also known as YF-19 because the pilot is Badass.
head? did you mean in robot mode or fighter mode? hehe. i see^^
Battroid
ah! i see^^
I kinda like Macross II actually. It's kinda too bad a lot of people dismissed it. Kinda nice to see the VF-2SS photos here :) I thought it looked good too. And also because the main pilot character is a woman, which is very different than the other mecha series out there.
I don't hate Macross 2 but the story concluded in terrible way. If Hibiki chose Ishtar the story would have make much more sense and in the end Marduk is just another Zentradi clone considering the story ended in the same manner with DYRL.
Ah, I don't mean you hate it, but seems like a lot of people just don't talk about it much nor bring it up. In the end it felt like it wasn't even canon. But yes, you're right, that's what the ending felt like, too similar to DYRL to be different to stand on its own.
The story execution to the end was sorta confusing on my part.... But I must say, the two good thing that came out of "Lover's Again" are Ishitar, and VF-2SS SAP. This unit beauty goes probably in my #1 list of "OMG this is the most Beautiful Valkyrie I have ever seen", followed by YF-19, and then the VF-25 Armor Pack.
And Ishitar when she is in human cloth is just that damn cute
Yeah, I agree. Maybe they ought to bring back VF-2SS into the other Macross continuity. Though I have to say that YF-29 is looking DAMN GOOD!
Ishtar's alien outfit looks hawt too!
Holy cow, I remember building that VF-2SS when it first came out.... forgot how many years ago
Dude the panel lines are all smudged up..
I like its futuristic styling, though it doesn't mean I don't like the ones closer to real aircraft like VF-0, which I like too. It's hard to say what's my favorite :P.
