DGN Game Review: Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny
If you haven't had enough of the action brought by Darth Vader in the PS3 release of Soul Calibur IV. Namco is delighted to present you with Soul Calibur IV: Broken Destiny for the PSP which recently hit the shelves of different gaming stores throughout the globe.
Fans of the said game will find the this portable release to be a good acquisition for its splendidly graphics and gameplay despite the capabilities of a PSP.

Gaming Experience
Soul Calibur IV: Broken Destiny is a completely different release from Soul Calibur IV which was for the PS3 and Xbox360 since there is no Story mode and Arcade Mode. That gone, Namco gave it a different platform. The game has the modes "Quick Match" which allows you to play against different A.I. opponents provided by the game with your own choosing.

"Gauntlet Match", the new form of tutorial mode will allow the new players of Soul Calibur IV to learn the mechanics of gameplay in a well versed and interactive tutorial and lastly the Training mode where players can practice there moves without any restrictions.

The quickmatch battles are a bit dry in a certain way. Gamers might find it a bit boring after a few hours of gameplay but a factor that might relieve them of their boredom is the ARMOR DESTRUCTION option which was introduced in Soul Calibur IV. Other than that it's just plain sword play while trying to get a glimpse of what's inside you're opponent's dress.

Character Creation is also included in this release but cuztomizing the default characters is not allowed except for changing the costume colors. Character Creation has 16 slots which is less compared to the one on the PSP. Regardless, you will still spend countless of minutes or even an hour just to get your characters dressed in a fashion you wish them to portray.

Acquiring items for the Character Customization comes from the Quick Battle by attaining titles or defeating opponents and even by shattering their armors.

Overall, Soul Calibur IV: Broken Destiny is entertaining but not to a certain level which NAMCO's game "TEKKEN 6" is able to deliver. The lack of Story Mode and a proper Arcade mode is one of it's pull downs despite the fact that they included Kratos in this release. Having the Ad Hoc feature is also the last thing that would pull this game out from the shelves but that is if you have friends who own the said game.
Digital Gaming News : Game Reviews gives Soul Calibur IV: Broken Destiny a 2.5 stars out of 5.
