K-On!! involvement in US Politics?!

Well not really actually. A friend of mine sent me a link of a news article about some mistake that someone made while twitting. For those of us in the United States, especially in the Golden State of California, you probably heard of Meg Whitman who is running for Governor of the state. Read this article to find out what went wrong in a hilarious way.
In a short summary, Whitman's spokeswomen Sarah Pompei made a tweet for their political campaign and posted a link to the tweet. Unfortunately for her, she wrote the link wrong and ends up leading to a YouTube video of a guy in a tutu playing a bass to K-On! song Fuwa Fuwa Time. I found this so funny and thought about what others who don't know anything about K-On! or Japanese pop culture thought of when they found this video by mistake. Well I know the figure.fm community knows K-On! but for those normal people who found that video, they were probably thinking WTF?!
This is the video that the mistyped link went to instead of the tweet. I don't think the normal American public have any idea what they just watched. (We do though!)

seen that video long ago, quite cool tho
and especially cool that a mistype leads to such awesome video x)
I know right? I would love to see people's reaction to this video not knowing what they are watching instead of reading some endorsement tweet.
me too!
Best. Typo. Evar.
Awesome
Lol, LOL
That's that Korean transvestite Otaku bassist guy. He's actually a damn awesome player.
omg! I've seen this guy before XD on youtube and back then everyone was saying how they wanted his legs cause they look nice XD.
Yay, CA politics=otaku k-on!
great way to advertise
lol Nice! Spread on, K-On!
ha!! it just had to be that video out of all links it could lead to. excellent~
Such epic win!
Considering Whitman is the conservative candidate, the fact that a man in a pink dress and thigh-highs is what comes up makes this about as funny as it can be. Makes me wonder how many got mad XD
Hahaha I've subscribed to that guy months ago! Godly bassist, he is :3
They got to know whats happening on the inside of japan instead just on the surface.
Great Bassist he is!
That video's comment count is booming xD
lol, just saw it on the commercial a while ago for the night news
What?! What channel? I wanna see it on TV. I'm in the SF area so maybe KTVU channel 2 news?
oh my god... I can't see Fox ranting about how asian people are weird, and all the conservative nonsense they could tie K-On with the weirder side of otakuism. Regardless, wonder if Colbert or Daily Show may have a segment on this....
T_T -and it's I can see, not can't...
Still a lot better than getting Rick-Rolled.
Lol bloomers, wind in his hair, lol
Now I have the urge to stand up in public and sing Fuwa Fuwa Time in a pink dress xD
haha,it's so hilarious!
Is Meg Whitman a famous stateswoman in America?
Just in California I think. I had never heard of her. But after this I think a lot of people will recognize her name XD
I see.
I watched the video on youtube, and as superunature says above, the number of the comments are increasing rapidly. Perhaps her name will be more and more famous^^
Thanks for your reply.
Well before this election year she was known as being the CEO of E-Bay. This year is she is running for governor for the state of California. It's interesting to see how one typo in a link can lead to fun for us j-pop people and strange moments for people who don't know what that video link was about. (Who knows, maybe it was done as a way to reach out to potential voters?)
Yeah, there's only one word for this phenomenon ; "surrealism".
So K-On! gone mainstream... in politics!
Reading it reminds me of Haruhi Suzumiya as a protest symbol.
