Sankt Kaiser Vivio

Posted by $tranger

I've always liked this particular figure, although I don't even know the character yet ^^
Since she was very cheap at Hobbysearch, I could not resist getting her.
The shipment was done via SAL for a change and the package arrived in excellent condition.

So here we go with a few bits of cellphone-cam-shaky-goodness:

There she is. A nice dynamic pose an many details make her one of my new favourites.

Her place in my Detolf, guarded by red-haired beauties ;)

RASENGAN!!!

The whirl looks quite nice, although it isn't translucent like Saber's Excalibur.

Almost my whole 'crowd' of figures (Nono is in the bottom part). Selvaria will join them soon.

While I'm at it: Do you guys have any suggestions on how to hide those white wires for the lighting? I don't really know how to cover them, and although I already tried to put them in place as cleanly as possible it still looks somewhat sloppy, at least to me :/

Your lighting configuration is cool. How did you install them?

I'm using the "Dioder" LED-Light set from IKEA.
The LED bars come with double-sided tape-pad-thingies (^^) which I used to put them under each piece of glass. So far they are still in place, but I think I might need something stronger during summer, because the pads might fall off.

I was tempted to get Vivio, but I'm not familiar with her. Havn't watched Nanoha yet.

Nice figure. Her armor is outstanding. As for the wires, I have the same problem. I have not worried too much about it, but it would be nice to find something. I know there are some products for wrapping multiple wires, and that might cut down on the brightness of the white.

I also like your decision to put lights on each level. In my case, I put all four light bars on the top. It does loose some light as it goes down to the bottom.

I touhght of something like the rubber tubes you use for placing the glass inside on the metal - some kind of long elastic tube which you can just put around the whole metal strut and cover the wires with.
But finding something with the correct size might be quite difficult :/

      About the lights:
To me it seems like LED light have very little light output if you're further away from the lamp, although they're very bright if you're looking directly at them - to me even this configuration seems to be a little too dark from time to time ^^

I like the idea of rubber tubes. If you are looking for something black, you could use drip irrigation line from the hardware store. It comes in really long lengths for a pretty cheap price, and it might just fit the wire inside. Hmmm, more thinking on that one. :)

She also has some blue gem-like objects on her armor which have a nice translucent, shiny effect. It's just a pity that you don't see most of them from the front.

I can see that you liked this Vivio and also, that you have beautiful figures and, even Selvaria will join them soon, that's nice.

Fanboy apart, is there a detail that you don't like about Vivio? Any? because I'm planning to get her but I'm not sure by now.

    Thanks from already ^^.

If I had to pick something I'd say that she's hard to display properly.
There's lots of nice details on her shoulder armor (gallery at hobbysearch: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10112869a/20/1 ) and also on her back - which will mostly go unnoticed unless you have something like one of those rotating display stands ( http://www.eyeonasia.co.uk/p/product/0911279282-Basic+Black+Display+Turn+Table/ ).
Also the base is very big, so if you only have limited space available, it might be a problem.

Other than that, the paint-job and sculpting of the figure are absolutely flawless (although I can't say much about how true it is to the character - yet), and I'd definitely buy her again :)

Oh! thank you very much for the info, it's good to know what others people think about something in particular when you're not 100% sure.

Thanks a lot and see you soon ^_^)b

Nice idea to put the detolfs on top of that cupboard, it really makes the bottom section a lot more useful. I gotta find one big enough to support 2 detolfs, since I don't have room for any more next to my desk :P
