Happy Halloween...a few days early...Bwahahahaha...

Posted by Ms. Geek [www]

These two slightly macabre photos are to show everyone that the Dollfie Dream v.1 body arrived one day earlier than expected. The wheelchair is from My Twinn, a company that makes 24" (60.96cm) custom child dolls meant to look like the little girls they are intended for. Since Dollfie Dreams are 58cm, My Twinn accessories are just about the right size. However, the clothes are not only the wrong size for Dollfie Dream (and Obitsu, for that matter) but very girlish.

Now to do the faceup...hope I don't screw it up...^^;;;

Mouseover = load notes.

      Thanks. I'm excited about this. I've never seen anyone with a ball joint doll with a wheelchair, so I figured it would be cool, and it would be something unique.

    Congrats! Have fun doing the faceup. Just remember to seal it before you paint, and keep some rubbing alcohol on hand, and you'll be okay even if you screw up the first try or two. :)

        If this comment isn't already too late (^^; ), get the highest concentration you can get your hands on. 90% or higher is best; the others will still work, but you'll need more elbow grease to get things off. Qtips are great for removing just parts of it. (Especially eyelashes. I don't know what the heck's so tricky about eyelashes, but I erased three or four sets before settling on Agatha's final.)

          I got the 91% concentration. I figured stern stuff is needed. Yeah, swabs for the win. BTW gonna email you.

            91%'s exactly what I've got. It definitely fits the bill! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

      I thought it was apropos considering she's intended to be Mitzi's girlfriend. These are the Outer Planet Senshi on this T-shirt, y'know...

        I knew they were the older girls and that they were also "close frineds" ;^) I just could not recall their names... maybe Uranus and Pluto? I like the blond tho.

            Uranus and Neptune are definitely close. Very appropriate for Mitzi's girlfriend!

    I take it this body is for the new head we talked about? If so, I really can't wait to see how she turns out! Very cool chair too, I had no idea they made these that size.

      Yes, this is the bod I got for the head. Thank you SOOOOOO much for the pix, they will be a big help. Like I said, My Twinn dolls are about the same height -- more or less -- as a Dollfie Dream.

        You're quite welcome! It will be really cool to see how you have her turn out. And good to hear the dolls will about the same height!

          It means that any accessory meant for My Twinn will work with a Dollfie Dream. This includes things like chairs and sofas and beds and so forth. They also are quite reasonable if (and only if) you compare their stuff to similar stuff put out by Volks and other Ball Joint Doll companies. A sofa for $40 beats a sofa for $200, to give but one example.

            Very good info to have. And I agree that sometimes, Volks furniture is just a bit much. I saw some of them in person at the Volks stores in Japan and altho nice, I can't justify $200-$250 for a couch or chair. Thank goodness I have a line on a couple of chairs coming up soon. Hopefully by the second week in November I'll have my hands on some cool chairs that are Dollfie sized and are reasonably priced as well. If I do get them, yall will soon find out. :3

              My Twin has stuff Volks doesn't too. Like horses! So want to get one of their horses. . . They also have an open sleigh, designed to be pulled by--guess what--one horse, haha. I also don't recall Volks ever selling a wheelchair.

        yeah I'm weird

        do any of the My Twinn things work for a MDD, or is their scale fixed on DD sized?

          Well, basically MDD is a 1/3 scale child. If you want stuff that is in scale with them and only them, American Girl has your stuff. Actually some American Girl stuff works with Dollfie Dream too, witness how nice their acoustic guitar works with Mitzi and Z:

          http://www.flickr.com/photos/msgeek/4975960388/ (bottom left panel)

          It depends about whether you will find yourself with full size DDs in the future or not. If you just want MDDs and MSDs, go the American Girl route. Although just so you know, MDDs and MSD-size ball joint dolls look like they are from different planets and are different creatures altogether...see this picture here:
          http://www.flickr.com/photos/msgeek/4529023582/

          If you think you'll have full sized DDs or Obitsu 50-60-65cm dolls or Super Dollfies at any time, go with the My Twinn stuff. Again, basically MDD is a child-sized DD. Dollfie Dream Sister is a Teen-sized DD.
