Another day...
Put Sophie into her baggy hoodie today and took some random shots...today I will also tell my lucky story of how I got her~!
(Also, to show off her new skirt -- I made it XD Sewing is tough @w@)

(I'm way too scared to try to do a neck mod...you can tell she doesn't have one. But you can get a Dollfie to look upward by arching their back a bit.)

Once upon a time, there was a girl (me!) who loved browsing Dollfie Dream stuff...always wanted one of my own, but my parents would take one look at the price and ignore my requests completely.

Then, one day on Amazon.com, I found by chance a blank DDH-03 and body for sale.

It came with a body stocking, wig cap, wig, and...well, the doll itself, of course XD All for less than what a base body costs by itself directly from Volks...

*cue lots of pleading and appealing to parents* XD

Somehow, it worked, and upon sealing the deal with the seller, I began to eagerly anticipate the arrival of my first Dollfie Dream girl.

Even when she had first arrived, with no faceup, no eyes, and (yikes!) no clothes, I was so excited. Of course, finding her clothes was the first matter at hand...which, fortunately, I had a little something for her to cover up (which are the pictures in my first post here XDD)

Even eyeless and faceup-less, she looked so beautiful XD Parent's joy, I suppose?

Buying her eyes came quickly after her arrival, and (a long while ^^;) afterward, I painted her eyelashes and eyebrows. I hadn't realized so much beforehand, but the faceup itself brings a lot of life into a Dollfie!

Sophie. <3
I still wonder to this day why that seller was giving her up for so cheap; I've had her for quite a while now and I still have yet to find anything wrong (her head is stained from her old wig (which was red, I guess?), but head stains are super minimal because you can't see them, anyway XD
I still have the seller's original picture, and it's amazing to see how far Sophie has come.
I don't have an amazing camera or cool light setups. I don't have a ton of money to buy her new shoes and clothes and accessories (or sisters!). But I love having Sophie to accompany me in this house :3 And I'm so glad I found her that day by chance~

She's so sweet. :D I really want a daughter.. ): I have the same problem, my mom would never buy me a dollfie. xD Hopefully someday I'll get as lucky as you! :3
How much did you get her for?
Thank you! :D I got her for a little bit under $220 (whereas a Volks-bought body'll cost $230 by itself XD). I was very lucky!
I hope you're able to get your own daughter soon! They're quite the joy to have :3
wow, you put in a lot of effort there~ great work ! xD
congrats on finally having a DD, and a custom one at that !
i believe the seller sold it for a low price because it was second hand; if it was the same price as the retail, then people would just buy the body straight from Volks instead of risking~
in a way, you were lucky this seller was trustworthy :3
Thank you~
What surprises me most is that she was still under retail, but she came with not only the body and head ($273 from Volks), but also a wig, a body stocking, and a wig cap.
I find myself -very- lucky they were trustworthy ^^; it was definitely a chance deal.
I like first shot~
Thanks~ That's one of my favorites, too :D
Congrats on your first daughter! I can feel how much you love her and that why she is so cute! Even if you dont have a good camera or lighting setup, if you put effort and love, she will be always beauty on the photos!
Ahh, thank you! I hope her cuteness continues to shine~~
Surprise surprise!I saw her when she was on amazon and took a liking to her. I begged my parents but to no avail. Nice to know someone got her and that I can see what happened to her after she disappeared off Amazon.
I'm still surprised I got my mom to give in (she thought it was a fraud!). But you can find good deals if you look around, they tend to pop up on ebay if you wait a little bit.
I think I was lucky I had checked Amazon when I did, because there usually isn't any Dollfie Dream stuff there at all :s
I know what you mean about faceups making a huge difference! Not only does Sophie look different from my Agatha despite having the same headmold, Agatha's faceup from her previous owner looked totally different than what she has now. And check out Momoiro Manbou: http://momo-man.net/top_frame.html He's done literally hundreds of heads, many of them the same one our girls have, and he gets such variety out of them! I find the whole thing fascinating.
I've no idea why Sophie's previous owner would have let her go for that price, though. When I adopted Agatha (nowhere near the deal you got, probably, but still definitely under retail all told), the seller said that between Agatha not getting enough love there and needing to pay for another doll on layaway, she had to get her re-homed quickly. Maybe Sophie was in a similar situation. . .
I think that's one thing that makes them so fascinating, too, is that with a custom doll there's so many possibilities~ It's amazing.
Yeah, that's very possible. I'm glad that if that's the case, Sophie is now in a home where she can get any love she may have missed XD I bet Agatha is very happy in her home, too :)
Yeah, their customizability was definitely a BIG part of my decision to adopt. :) It's also part of why I decided to do Agatha's current faceup myself instead of sending her off. The other reason is that after waiting so long for the right adoption to come up, I didn't want to spend several weeks with her headless. =P Yeah, I like to think she's happy here. She'd better be, with all the stuff I'm making for her! XD I'm sure Sophie is too.
. . . You live in the "summer deathray"? That wouldn't happen to be in the Southwest, would it?
Yep, Arizona, in fact. It's so criminally hot in the summer =0=
Hey, that's where I am! :D I actually don't mind the heat too much, especially since in the desert it actually cools off quite a bit in the evenings. It was the cold when I lived in Flagstaff that sucked the joy right out of me. I'm a human popsicle though. ^^; Hm, maybe we should move this portion of the conversation to email. poofiemus at commspeed dot net
I love stories like this! It's great you found Sofie and were able to adopt her. It's probably fate working hard again. ^_^ It has an odd way of getting parents and daughters together....
Great work on Sofie and congrats. I hope to see more of her in the future!
Rats, I just realized I spelled Sophie wrong, sorry!
Yeah, I feel so ultimately lucky that everything fell into place as well as it did~ Thank you, fate!
If I can manage to get any sort of decent handle on sewing, hopefully updates will be more frequent~
and, I've actually never seen it spelled Sofie, before. It looks cute~
She might want a sister soon. :)
When I am able to get one, she will have a sister for sure XD
If you're looking for an MDD body, I have one (slightly used) stashed away somewhere :)
Take it all nice and slow. I am sure she understands her mother's situation.
Yes XD She does have a few different outfits and sets of shoes to switch between :3 And fortunately for me she does understand! XD
Sophie is cute! I like her sweat shirt.
