Computer Display Usage Poll
A lot of talk has been going around the tech community regarding how people choose to use the screen of their computers. For me, whether I'm on OS X or on Windows 7 (or even Linux (Ubuntu 10.04 or 10.10) on my netbooks), I use my computer pretty much the same way. How do you use yours? (Scroll down for polls.)

My Mac OS X desktop, as it appears while I'm doing stuff.

My Windows 7 desktop, as it appears while I'm doing stuff.
How do you tend to use your computer? Do you have lots of windows open, using most of them at the same time, or do you tend to use your whole screen for a single window at a time?
As long as I'm asking about your display usage habits, how about you tell me a little about your display?
Can you tell which of the above pictures is my primary desktop?
If you want, feel free to comment with your screen resolution, or to link to pictures of your own desktop in use.

I used to have multiple screens with different aspect ratios (laptop screen: 16:9 ; second screen 4:3) but one died :( And I sometimes use my psp as a secondary screen
My main computer has 2 screens. The main large one is mostly used for full screen web pages. The secondary screen has all the little things arranged how I like, IRC, instant messaging, iTunes, torrents and whatnot.
hahaha seconded that, I usually using primary for my work and 2nd monitor for... well, non work :D
I have laptop hooked up to other screen, use main screen for net/video watching in fullscreen while on laptop display will have things like winamp, itunes and other misc programs open on that screen
Ah, I just got a brand new Desktop set up after using my Laptop as my primary computer for 6 years. Right now, my monitor is 20 inch and 16:9. Finally can watch all those glorious 1080p Anime!
most 720p and 1080p are rather simular
but for some like K-on season one 1080p and 720p is definately a huge difference
For what it's worth, I also have two displays. My laptop screen (15", 1440x900, 16:10) is my main display, and my second monitor (22", 1680x1050, 16:10) is my other-usage screen. I use it mainly for torrent management, videos, and very large web pages (like Danny's photo blogs and various webcomics). I only posted the main screen, since I couldn't figure out a really good way to post both, or if anyone would even care to see both. ^^;
Am I the only one with a 4:3 17" CRT here? :P
Wow--maybe. Tell me more about your computer?
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 5600+
RAM: 2GB RAM
GFX: Sparkle Geforce 8800GT
Board: Gigabyte WotzItAgenDunAskMe 50-something ^^
OS: Win XP
Nothing too shabby, can play all of my games so far with high FPS and without stutters. But I just can't let go of my CRT cause it's still fully functional and I truly dislike widescreen formats on PC.
And don't get me started with Win7, I have the bad feeling that most of my VNs and oldschool games won't work at all on that OS :P
I play a variety of older games, and I haven't had any trouble with Windows 7 so far. In fact, Windows 7 Pro has XP mode, which emulates XP, fixing compatibility issues with the newer OS. I can respect not wanting to getting rid of your monitor as long as it works, though. My second monitor used to be the main screen for my desktop, and the monitor before I upgraded it to that one I still have, using it as my TV. ^^; That oldest one is a Samsung SyncMaster 192MP if you wanted to look it up. 19", 5:4, 1280x1024.
What I dont like about Mac is when I use photoshop or other programs, I can see through the background. If I click, maybe a web browser behind it, photoshop goes into the background. It's irritating. Also sometimes the calendar and calculator appear by accident because I moved the mouse a certain way. It's annoying. And when I minimize a window, it shrinks to the right corner very small so it's hard to know what window was which. Otherwise, I pretty much lay windows out the same as any other computer. I'm trying to find ways to improve work efficiency.
I've got dual monitors setup (a 23" 16:9 and a 15" 4:3), and I must say it makes browsing the computer a lot easier, in terms of...well...everything
Multitasking isn't multitasking without more than one monitor.
But the 23" isn't much, I use my 30ft HDMI cable to hook my desktop up to my 120Hz 47" 1080p of HD glory to watch Thora's blu-ray rips mwahaha
2x22" 1680x1050 that does the trick for me^^
A 23" (landscape) with a 22" (portrait) alongside - both wall-mounted. If I particularly like the wallpaper I'm using I will sometimes work just one screen so as to "expose" the other. Otherwise my browser is on the portrait-oriented screen for less scrolling and one app or another on the landscape...
Sometimes game on the wide screen and leave a page with football scores updating on the other so I know when to run to the TV.
Been thinking about adding a third screen but I can't come up with a good reason yet.
My two PCs share one 24 inch 16:10 display through input switching feature.
Personally I don't like 16:9 display. Kinda too "narrow" for me.
My screen is really really old, older than the computer itself which is about 5 years. 17", 4:3, max resolution 1024x768. I got it for free when my dad's friend was about to throw it out lol.
The only plus side is I can fit a lot of figures on my desk next to my screen ^^''
