Nikon D5000 Test drive with Dollfie Dream Asuka and Saber Lily
Well I said something along the line of taking some Dollfie out for a photoshoot if the weather was nice, the weather wasn’t exactly perfect for the past couple of days, was mostly cloudy but I got to catch every chance I can get to take as many photos outside as possible. The weather is starting to change and I have already noticed some summer flowers had already died out >.>;
While I haven’t really had that much time to practice the use of my new DSLR, I have got to do what I can manage for now. But this time is a bit different, I wanted to focus on Asuka so I only took one Dollfie Dream out with me today. So, once again, I have returned to the flower bed almost a month later, only this time it wasn’t as easy to put Asuka on top of the manhole cover as it was a month ago (plus there were other people in the office building so I didn’t want to spend too much time there). I ended up only taking a few shots and moved on to my next spots >.>;
A few of the photos turned out ok, I am quite happy with the resolution this new camera can deliver. I can see very coarse pixels when I zoom in with my old pictures but the new camera changed everything! I still have yet to understand all the bells and whistles of the D5000 though, but so far I am more than happy with my purchase! One of the advantage of the new camera is the increased resolution, I kept everything at 4288X2848, so you should be able to bring up the full size image if you visit my blog, alternatively, you can also visit my flickr account and you will be able to see the setting I went with on these photos.

Somehow a bee get caught in action in this photo!
I wish I could spent more time in the flower bed this time, hopefully I would be able to do that before winter.

While Asuka has taken the bulk of my attention this weekend, I didn't ignore my new arrival either. So it's time to take a few shots of the Gathering Saber Lily.

Please feel free to visit my blog if you are interested to see more pictures.

nice pictures..i like the 2nd pics..i like her pose in the flowers,but don't know name of the flower..
Thanks Jowy, but I am not fully satisfied with the outcome yet, I have got to practice more.
nice shot, I like the third one, sharp and colorful.
I still got a way to go yet, too bad that people were in the office lol, otherwise I would have experiment more.
hehe it's a bit embarassing when people are watching uh? The only person I don't mind seeing me when I take DD photos is my boyfriend, anybody else I will feel weird for some reason. >_<
I think I would have been fine if I am shooting with another person with me, doing it on my own leaves me a bit insecure in front of strangers! And yea, I would like to avoid being seen in the office with a Dollfie >.>, but then even if I get caught I have already got an excuse! I would say I am doing it for my niece.
Oh! That's a very good excuse! Dammit I don't have a niece!!!
Not like I actually have a niece! Just making this stuff up!
I seems can't put comment in your blog, it says something about cookies..
The resolutions are amazing, very clear too. E2046 Saber Lily already sold out haha I got no chance to get her.. she's gorgeous
Your comment came through ok though.
Your old photos where good,
and your new photos are nearly perfect!!
Wish you much fun with your new Equipment.
I think I did a better job posing last time as I haven't been able to find that same pose. It's partly cloudy again today but I got to try again! Stay tune in my flickr as I don't want to spam the same type of photos here!
Nice shots! Much better quality than your sony f707. Asuka looks very lovely in the bed of flowers!
Thank you ^^; I still have much to learn, until I find the optimum settings, I still have to do many shoot out!
Nice shots bro, although if I do have to say.. AVOID USING THE [P] SETTING!! XD!!
But seriously.. looking forward to your future photos. :D
May be I am slow, but what exactly is the [P] setting?!
I am going to run out there again today to shoot more, hopefully there won't be anyone in the office in a public holiday but me! Muahahahahahha.
Coffeebug meant Program Auto (Flexible), on the exposure mode dial. It's like Auto mode, except that you can change both shutterspeed and aperture by turning the thumb/command dial.
I went out today and shot a bunch of photos, I was alternating between Auto mode (it was giving me Aperture around 11 and Shutter around 1/500). I figure I wouldn't choose anything better myself so left it there and the Portrait mode. I took one more model with me today, shot mostly RAW + JPG so it's going to take some processing time.
kit lens ?
It's an upgrade from the D5000 kit, but it's still a kit lens for the D90. I got no complain for it though, as good as I can use it for now.
Definately that newer camera is a boon to ya Wolf.. I like these improved shots. They are definately worth the expense.
I love the increased resolution, better clarity to the photo. I was disappointed with the quality of the pixels when I zoom in on my last photo set. And most of all, my daughters are worth it! I know some of you must be wondering why I still haven't changed their clothes, well there is a reason for that too! It will come, all in due time, but first I got to shoot more photos with the current setup, until my trigger fingers get tired!
I haven't worried about their clothes.. as long as no stains.. Life is good ^_^
I like image ID#9887
Thanks, there are a bunch of photos coming :3
Your dollfies hair against the green of the grass calls for good shots! She's so cute X3
Thank you ^^; I have more photos coming and one more new model!
Yay for D5000! i also got that DSLR a couple of months ago works great for me!
The D5000 had a recall recently, have you checked and make sure your serial number is clean? My understanding is the early production all had to be recalled for a power up fix.
Super nice photos in the flower bed!!
One little remark (I hope it's ok) the headdress seems to have leaned over to the left a bit and it's just a little bit distracting in some pics. One suggestion would be that before you start shooting, double-check to make sure that accessories like her headdress are still well centered on her head. Maybe you were in a rush cuz people from the office were watching you? hehe. Still very nice photos, I like the bright green, red and pink contrasts.
Oh please give me any comments you may have! I know the headdress was a bit distracting in some pics, as I didn't want to spend a lot of time in the office that day, I took care of most of them when I moved to my alternate spot. There are more photos to come! Check the other topic!
Looking forward to see the other pics! You seem to be on a rampage hehe. I guess it must be because of the new camera?
New camera and the weather turning cold, summer flowers are going to dry out, plus I have no idea what they are going to plant there next year.
Asuka looks great in contrast with the grass. She blends quite well with the flowers! Might be just my imagination, but I thought I saw grass stains. Did you get any on her? Hopefully not...
Ah good, so I am glad we are on the same wavelength there, so far I don't think any of my other daughters fit as well in the flower bed as well as Asuka does. How did you manage to be able to spot the grass stain? lol It's a common thing to happen when put them on grass, but I am already accustomed to it, as long as I clean it up fast. I am getting used to checking them for stain whenever I take them outside now, I had to loosen up Asuka's stocking to clean her up a little, should have taken a photo of that, the wet stocking was quite a turned on :P
Lovely photos! I love Asuka's photos with the flowers the most...
And... That Saber Lily is epic! ;A;
Thanks :D I love going to back there to take photos!
She looks great in that flower bed!
By the way, could I request a shot from the side/behind of Saber Lily? So far it seems all the shots are from the front, so... :P
I have shots of her back in my blog, can only upload 10 pictures here.
Ah - thanks for the heads-up then. I was in a bit of a rush the first time through. ^^;
just got my D5K too.
D5K is a wonderful cam, I enjoyed the full resolution photo very much and began using the shots I took as wallpaper :3
Nice camera indeed. I really like Asuka!
Glad to see you like her :)
