Monday Moe Musume - Oujo-sama
And so to herald the Return of Monday Moe Musume from the depths of internet bedlum.. what more could call forth or demand such an entrance other than that of the highly respected and looked up to individuals from the characteristically rich and powerful to those who just give off that kinda of vibe that demands it.
Without further ado... please give your respects to our lovely batch of Princesses... Ojou-sama!! m(_ _)m

"The lovely and moelicious Nogizaka Haruka"
By definition means "Princess" by which these ladies are whereby deemed by the masses. Some are rightfully so of royal blood and really do carry the title.
as Wiki defines it
...is the feminine form of prince (from Latin princeps, meaning principal citizen). Most often, the term has been used for the consort of a prince, or his daughters.

"Bakemonogatari's Supah Tsundere: Senjougahara Hitagi Ojou-sama"
But some are merely refered to as such because:
a) they carry the grace and composure that of one, much like Kotonoha and Haruka does.
b) they behave as though they are princesses, be it like refined and eloquent or spoiled and bratty, or they just give off that vibe; like "Senjougahara ojou-sama"
c) they're filthy stinking rich like Mugi-chan (″・ิ_・ิ)っ or;
d) all of the above.

"The hot blooded tandem of Aisaka Taiga and Kawashima Ami"
has an article on it and gives a good list of characters from many a varied series.
Here's an excerpt from them.
A type that has been seen quite a bit recently, but dates back at least as far back as Project A Ko. The ojou ("princess") may be many things (perhaps even a Real Princess), but she is undoubtedly rich, either in her own right or by being part of an absurdly powerful family. Without fail, she should live in the Big Fancy House, or at the very least, have one back home which will be alluded to or visited at least once during the series.

"The unflappable Kotonoha Katsura"
Many ojou, while already powerful financially, also have some power in their own right (usually supernatural). A recent trend also has many of them running their school's Absurdly Powerful Student Council as Student Council President (Chikane in Kannazuki, Shizuru in Mai-HiME, Kanade in Gokujou, Sachiko in Mari-mite and Karen in Yes Pretty Cure 5 all fit this last point).

"Kotobuki Tsumugi - (″・ิ_・ิ)っ"
Personally, I find these girls very moe in the sense that they exude that sort of untouchable grace that their very presence demands respect.
I have many a 2D girl that I like that seem to come from this archetype and it seems so that most of them are also a cross between the tsundere archetype... come to think of it, so was my ex but that's another story.

Have any of you met someone who just gives of such vibe? Like Galactic princess er, rather, the walking pillar of Moe-ness, Takara Miyuki?

Or maybe met someone who's been referred to as such? Much like Enma Ai..

Or maybe know someone that you treat or demands that you treat them that way... Hime-sama!!

What would you do if an Oujo starts giving you chocolates on White day, like Nagi here?

щ(¯Д¯щ) and no Alto hime you do NOT count as an Ojou...

When I first read ojou-sama I immediately thought of Drossel ^^
Also Rachel Alucard(vampire loli from blazblue) ftw!!!
Senjogahara is teh one :D
Senjougahara m(_ _)m
Harukaaaaa!!!! :woop:
Yay, I was right! Then again, I was taking potshots and guessed 4 different possible topics... ^^;
My concept of the "ojou-sama" type is one that seems high-class in general. Most of the time they're depicted as untouchable and above the ranks of mere commoners, *except* for the title character with whom they either a) act close and familiar, or b) treat like their personal servant. ^^;
You noted that many of them seem to be tsundere - indeed a very common depiction, which "makes sense" because those with a privileged upbringing would presumably be less able to be honest with their feelings due to pressure to keep appearances up. But I would also argue that there's a large portion of ojou-sama characters that aren't tsundere - maybe 1/3 or so?
Haruka's a prime example. So is Tsumugi (K-ON!). With these "ojous" what you have is instead a naive, sheltered character that often sees the world in a very idealized manner. They tend to be nice to everybody (polar opposite of tsun). Oddly enough, for no real reason, they're usually also cast as clumy dojikko. xP
Ah yes.. I failed to note that. It's either their Tsundere's or Dojikko's and the very rare "onii-chan"
Princess,madamossette,mistress=one word "Ojou",i watch some anime w/ a theme of princess whatever if she rich or a kind hearted person (especially tsundere or yandere,genki available).energetic princess,clumsy (but cute) princess can make a person (both who have watching anime)have a taste like this..
Hey, why not list which character each picture is? I'm sure not all of us recognize all of them :)
Fixed. :3.
