August Haul

Posted by GundamJehutyKai [www]

I thought I would share my purchases for the month of August as I have finally managed to collect them all together. Damn Royal mail and their shoddy service...

There was a little more than this actually, since I bought a few items at Chara hobby but that was at the end of the month and the items are still in transit. I'll post those at a later date, but for now, we have

Movie Fraulein Yoko,
Revoltech Arch Gurren Lagann (my personal fave form)
MG Gundam Exia Ignition mode
Yolks Try-GK Yoko (my last Yoko kit methinks,)
and 2 GK from wonderfestival

I'll leave the revoltechs and Exia for now as I think other members have covered them pretty well. So I'll just go through the GK.

This is my preliminary build for the try-GK yoko. I always try to put them together quickly just to check the parts and the build quality. This one took a few minutes as the parts were really good!

For my first Wonderfestival purchase, I managed to snag Aisaka Taiga. There were a few kits of her floating around, but I liked this one the best. Paid a considerable premium too if the price left in the bag is true...

And this is my favourite one of the bunch! A GK of Sheryl Nome!!! I saw this kit on the FG boards and pretty much fell in love with it straight away. I decided that I would track one down and buy her and, after a lot of difficulties, I managed to obtain one!!

She seems to be a very rare kit as well, since I don't think I've seen her pop up on Yahoo! Japan auctions, save for 1 auction, which I lost.
It's just a shame that I really have my work cut out for her. There was no colour picture attached, nor instructions and the build looks like it will be... difficult. My blog post goes into more details on the issues I face but I've already started now!!

Shame that I won't be able to work on her for a while...

Also, a visitor on my blog asked an intriguing question on an earlier post when he asked if I was willing to sell my old kit or offer my services to paint kits for other people.
So, Firstly, I ask the painters in the community, have you done commissions for other people before?
And for the non-painters, would you be willing to ask members of the figure.fm community to paint a Garage kit for you?

yeah, the parts are not exactly the best. This is just the preliminary work to check the parts fit. and to show people what she sorta looks like, since the Kit didn't come with instructions or a completed pic. She's going to need a lot of work before she can be painted cos the parts are pretty bad. I'll keep readers updated with her progress, but I suspect that it'll be really slow.

a better pic of her can be found here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v471/gundamjehutykai/wonder%20festival/sheryl.jpg or on the makers FG page (if you have an account)

I'd love to know of someone to paint GKs, especially if it was someone who I recognised from figure communities. (I've seen you on Tsuki Board. XD )

The Taiga kit is really cute, I love her outfit, will be nice to see her completed.

ewww. the sheyrl kit just looks awefull! is it a recast or straight order?

good luck, i've tried my hand at some shoty figure kits and failed miserablly! although some quality ones i do well on..

always got to hand it to GK figures people... they got more patience than i do!

      Straight order. Surprising, isn't it?

the kit itself isn't too bad. the details are fine and the resin is good wuality, but I guess the seals were lacking. I'd still get a kit from the same maker if it impressed me enough, Sheryl will just take a little while longer.
