What Paint will do?!

Hey guys, another question. I was going to do my own faceup for my girl and I wondered what Paints I could use? Volks is really expensive, I heard that Games Workshop paint work, the stuff they paint warhammer figures with? I'm not so sure, I don't want to ruin her. Any ideas? I'm trying to keep my budget down ><

One time, I wanted too give my girl Yukino another faceup, but just some fine details, such as a smile instead of frown. I used acrylics from walmart..It didnt end badly. I didnt like my faceup that I did ( ^^;;) But it washed off easily even after drying. It might be because she had a clear spray on her face. It protected her. Never-the-less, I dont think paint will kill your girl. It just depends on what paint you use. I tested the paint on the bottom of her foot first. (No one looks at the bottom of dollfie feet, lol) Anyways, I wrote too much.. hope that helps. :P

Yeah, I'd pass on buying from Volks what you can buy elsewhere XD They are wayyy expensive.

For my girl's faceup, I used acrylics from walmart [about 99 cents for a bottle of way more paint than you will need to use, so you can keep it for multiple faceups ;)], and pastels (for blushing) from the local craft store [which were about $16, but it was a full color set. You could probably buy one with less colors or find a pink pastel by itself for a lot less].

So acrylics are fine for the girl's faceup? Do I have to use paint thinner or anything?

Liquitex is the paint Volks sells under its Zoukeimura label. You can get it for a way better price at Michael's. Michael's is also good for brushes and chalk pastels and everything else. Michael's also puts out lots of coupons too. However, Volks is the only game in town for UV spray coat. I prefer Zoukeimura UV to Mr. Super Clear. ZM basically gives the vinyl a paper-like finish that is ideal for painting, watercolor pencilling and blushing with chalk pastels.

This is my haul from Michael's before I did Sarge's faceup. I'm good for facing up more than a few more heads with this. Not shown: the ZM UV spray.

On cool! I've been wondering this very thing, and you've been very helpful! I just ordered the UV spray from Volks, I think there's a Micheal's in town too. The only thing I'm not too sure about is this make pen the Volks tutorial recommended to draw on the face first...

A watercolor pencil will do, that's what I used. Volks ran out of "make pens" when I was getting my supplies.

Thanks! I'll have to pick some up. Don't know if I'll be able to work on it this year though... Next week will be far to crazy, I really should get out of grocery store management...

I'm sure you have a similar store to Michael's in the UK.
