B★RS manufacturing defect
I'm quite surprised nobody has posted this piece of news yet.
As most of you might already know, Mikatan updated her blog to aware us of the manufacturing flaw of the recently released figure: Black Rock Shooter -animation version-. It's a painting defect, the star on B★RS' jacket is missing (did somebody notice this?). She also told people how to repair it. If you're living in Japan, you can request a sticker to replace the painting error (I believe only a few will go for this solution) or you can send the figure to them so they can fix it for you applying on this website (I understand you can send it by COD so they will cover the shipping). But if you don't happen to live in Japan, the distributors in other countries will establish their own solutions, so you'll have to contact with your retailer.
It's such a shame, I'm a bit upset, this is probably the most expected figure of the year! At least they're going to repair it but it's such a waste of time and money! I've never heard of a manufacturing defect that Good Smile Company had to repair massively before, have you?
So what are your thoughts on this? Are you pissed off? Are you just dissapointed? Or are you relieved you did't buy it yet (like me)?
I wonder if there will be an announcement of a new flawless batch and I also wonder if big retailers like AmiAmi or Amazon will stop their sales to send all their stock to repair. The only thing I'm sure of is that a tiny little star is going to give so much trouble!

Glad that I didn't bought it. Besides that, I find this a major flaw/mistake of the quality control of GSC. You pay quite a lot of money for figures of GSC so you expect good quality and not a big failure of this. Before you know it, it will break due to leaning problems :P

The sticker is a practical yet ugly solution imo. I wouldn't go for it.
Agree! I just got the notice from AmiAmi before I am about to pay. Now I have to really think about it.

I'm glad I didn't preorder this figure. As beautiful and dynamic as BRS looks, BRS is not a must-get figure for me because I don't trust GSC's quality control.
D= Crap. Minr was just shipped from j-list a few days ago. I hope it isn't 100% of the pre-orders that are affected.
On the optomistic side, maybe the few defects will have a higher collectors value(in the long run) for being defects. Like off center coins.
Doubt it, the fan base isn't large enough for the "few defects" to rise in collector's value.
Yeah I know thats being optomistic. Tho im sure the fan base will be big enought after the trilogy of full lenght movies directed my James Camren that scheduled to come out summer 2038.

I received today the email from amiami that a few Figures (NOT ALL) are involved.
The Figure is beautyfull without this one sticker too so i didn´t care about. ^,^
i just simply hope she will appear in bargain bin with cheap price one day thanks to this flaw

The "shipping back to them for them to repair it" is Japan-domestic only?
i believe so i really dont see them paiding for shipping to and from other countries
Well, I'd rather mail it back to them to get the star painted on rather than some stupid decal sticker that they're going to send us.
grab some paint and brush at Wal-mart and paint it yourself lol.....
just make a star cut-out, tape around it and use white paint. and it'll look great
I think they use air brushes bro.
First, spray base paint of gray. Second, spray other colors in layers. Third, finish all details. Fourth, for the glossy effect of her jacket, a nice clear coat.
Then start looking for air brushes lol

You will not get the star painted on even if you send it to GSC.

There's a small rock in your shoes as you're walking to your friend's house. It's only a small rock, not like it'll kill you. But it bothers the crap out of you.

That's a good example, little things like that bother me terribly and as I said before, that's not her only defect as the overly yellowing color on her boots seems, to me, even more concerning.
I totally agree with you, it's all about details, I love perfectness and that small rock bothers me a lot! I'm now hesitating to buy her or not cause if you pay for it, you deserve the real thing! imo.
Oh, I'm happy that I don't have enough money to buy this figure this month...
But it's really a boring thing.
If I had purchased, would have to content myself with the sticker, cuz if I had to send the figure to Japan, worth more to buy another, and still left money.

As long as they ship the sticker free of charge (Like 4 pence maybe?:P) im happy and to be honest i didnt notice the missing star
The sticker isn't the only issue, numerous reviews and people are complaining about her shoes being an ugly yellow. This was gonna be my first PVC...

You should look at the pictures of the boots. It really is badly noticeable =/
I don't really mind so much for the yellow but the greenish belt is what's scaring me away.
Sigh, no time to regret though, she's already on her way via EMS. I'll make my judgments on her then. I still have high hopes for her however. Hopefully she looks much better in person!

My GSC Saber Excalibur seems to have this mouth problem? where the arm partially covers the mouth. Idk if it's just me lol cause I see other peoples pictures with their mouths visible.
My Saber definitely has her mouth partially covered too. I think its the angle that you look at her really.

Huh, glad I canceled my order for this figure and opted for the cannon re-release. o.o
I canceled since I don't have the cash for two full-scale figures right now. The belt, yellowed shoes/trim, missing star, and the cheap-looking chains killed this for me. Seriously hoping that Dead Master comes out decent, especially since she's not being delayed.
I am pissed and glad my hasn't even started to be shipped over yet due to my other pre-orders with amiami this month. I'm going to e-mail them about this mistake before it gets shipped here. =-=
OMG, how could it happen...it is my first pre-order. I would never thought something like this will happen from a Japan company. My order just shipped yesterday....Wish I didn't make the payment till I saw this. I ordered it from Hobby Search, and still haven't get any email from them about this. @@ Did anyone send an email to Hobby Search asking about this issue?
I just checked my BRS after reading this post and was relieved to see she does come with the star. Phew!

Ah well, to be honest the missing star doesn't bother me too much - I mainly bought the figure because of the awesome pose - and she's also in transit already, so there's not much I can do anyway ^^
It's still a pity that this was allowed to happen though :/
I don't know, but is this the one time that the bootleg version actually is better than the original version in a sense? XD
Hopefully the Dec re-release of the cannon ver. is defect-free >_>
