Printing Custom Posters

Lately I've been seeing a few posts discussing ordered prints of anime pics from an online service. I'd really like to make a few nice posters, but everywhere I've looked has rules on copyright infringement. If anyone has ever tried making their own posters: what service did you use and how was the experience? Thanks for your help! :)

    I used Adoramapix http://www.adoramapix.com/products/prints
They have a sale right now until the 24th
    8X10 - $0.99
    11X14 - $1.99
    16X20 - $4.99
    20x30 - $9.99
I got 5x 20x30 sizes and metallic paper type which turned out really nice. They do take a week or so to print out but ship by priority mail for only $5.

Wow, how affordable! I was planning on doing around 6 so that could be my answer. They gave you no trouble for copyright stuff?

really depends on what you going to do with it.
regular posters are made from paper, which can crease or get wet.
This seller's poster are more like tapestry material.
I have both kinds of posters, paper one are little bit more vibrant, but I like the cloth one better because it doesn't roll or crease.

well I'm planning on framing them so I'm not concerned about creasing.

Good to know, though I was thinking along the lines of an actual poster print. But I'll keep my options open right now.

They gave me no trouble about any copyright infringement. I also framed my prints up though some frames are pricey, my 20x30 frames were $12 but that was with 65% off. I liked the metallic paper, colors were very vibrant and the prints came out sharp. Adorama even has a option for you to let them color correct your images before printing.

I'm glad I saw this post. I had a painting I had done and I wanted to get it printed out. Everywhere I look they were charging about quite a bit for a 16x20 print. I just sent in my order to Adorama. I hope it turns out well...

So is the metallic paper like...metal? Shiny and rigid, I mean? Did you do the color correction? I guessed that it was more for photographs with red-eye and stuff. Not sure what it has to do with an image.

The metallic paper is smooth not rigid, it does have more of a shine to catch the eye. I used their color correction, all monitors are show different colors by default or under different lighting etc. When I used the Spyder monitor calibration system my monitor was too way too blue. But the prints colors came out exactly how it looks on my monitor now.

I see, so the the color correction just makes the coloring more accurate if their system has an inaccurate reading of colors? Thanks for all your help, now I just need to pick what images to use!

I've used http://www.posterburner.com/ quite often, with great results. I printed out some awesome BRS stuff -- http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/22SbcVCxjGBMtgB_vg5_EA?feat=directlink

The quality looks really good! If you don't mind, can you upload the original image of the poster in the top left corner of your room? It's a really badass picture that I'd love to print out. Thanks!

I'm at work at the moment, but I believe I got those pictures either from Danbooru or Konachan sites. I looked for some nice very high-res pictures to make as posters, and those posterburner ones turned out very nicely. The smaller picture of Toph Bei Fong near the monitor was one from them, too.

I tried them before I went to PosterBurner, and they refused to print out the BRS posters I was trying for. So .. they do some type of copyright check.
