Dollfie - Remove Staining

Posted by Stepswalker [www]

We usually remove staining from Dollfie's skin by using thinner.
Dollfie Doctor, Cyranc, did the test by using OXY10 to remove staining on Dollfie's skin.
It's 80% work to remove staining and much better for using thinner because thinner would erode dollfie's skin if spread on dollfie's skin for long time.

I also got one for remove staining.

Let's see what Cyranc did on the testing of remove staining
he applied the OXY on Haruhi's head where the area is staining for 3 days.
(he told me the staining from Haruhi's head has been two years ago)

the left one is before using OXY, and the right one is after using OXY

I didn't use that particular brand, but I've used acne cream to remove stains from my 1/8 obitsu body doll before. It was a dark purple stain from someone handling her after getting Sharpie marker on their hands, and after applying the acne cream and letting her sit out in the sun for a while, you couldn't tell where the stain had been!

Didn't use the exact brand, but still sold as Oxy10, just needs to be 10% benzoyl peroxide. Pretty sure 10% is the highest you can get over-the-counter.
My Saber Alter had some deep staining from her black stockings on her thigh, and over a period of a few days, under a warm lamp and plastic food wrap, the stain eventually faded.

Good if you have the patience XD

    I wasn't really a fan of the idea of using direct sunlight to warm her up as the UV would damage the vinyl, especially if you're going to leave her there for days...and the sun isn't up during the night either ^^;

Well, you have to have the benzoyl peroxide on the stain too lol. The plastic food wrap will just help keep the moisture in the cream so it can do it's job faster.

Ohhhh a warm lamp works? That's a neat trick! One of my girls is under pimple cream treatment for a few days now, nice to know plastic food wrap and warm lamp can work! No more direct sunlight! Thank you!

Yeah the plastic wrap prevents the oxy10 cream to dry up too fast so you don't have to re-apply as often. It will still work without the plastic wrap and light but will take longer....

The oxy 10 works so well because of the 10% benzoyl peroxide. If you can't find this particular beand, try and find a similar product with a high level of benzoyl peroxide.

It says that it "clears pimple fast" does Dollfie grow pimples? LOL!! It this actually meant to be used on human skins instead of Dollfie?

Yes, this cream is a real spot treatment for people to use. But its just that the active ingridient, benzoyl peroxide, works really well at bleaching the dolls stained areas which is why we use it on our dolls.

Wow, an acne treatment to clean dollfies? That's pretty strange, but convenient!

I also heard the acetone(i.e. nail polish) remover was also a good way to remove stains on dollfies, does this apply to DDs as well? And thanks for the acne cream recommendation, I will definitely give it a try.

I don't know about on Dollfies or DDs, but when I tried to remove the Sharpie stain from my 1/6 obitsu body doll, the acetone remover didn't do anything at all. Maybe it was just the nature of the stain, but I didn't get any results from it.

Due to the nature of Vinyl which dd are made of, stains soak into the vinyl very fast. If you catch the stain right away (like a grass or food stain for example) then a surface wash with non acetone nail polish remover, or rubbing alcohol may be ok. However for most dd and vinyl dolls in general, you will need to use the cream method like this to get out the deep soaked stain.

Acetone will erode vinyl. You don't want to use it unless you rinse right away after application. And even then it's risky. Twin Pines of Maine sells a substance called Remove-Zit which is supposedly better than Benzoyl Peroxide -- http://www.twinpines.com/Catalog.html -- but apparently the company is up for sale because the chemist husband who invented the formula had done so for his doll-crazy wife, who is deceased now. Maybe one of the Asian doll companies should buy them out. Hello Volks?
