Welcoming my first daughter

Posted by CopperChef [www]

After seeing wonderful photos of many gorgeous dollfies, I have finally adopted Yumi and welcomed her to my home.

I have lots to learn as putting on her wig and getting her dress on seemed like it took way too long.
I also see so many wigs, clothes and accessories that I want to get for her! It really is like having a child!
If anyone can point me to some places for cameras, laptops, headphones, general tech toys. I would greatly appreciate it!

These are just some quick photos without much of a setup.
Taken on my Lumix LX3 with a Nikon SB800 speedlight and edited in Photo FX on the iPad.
I would love to come up with a real photo essay like many on here have been creating but I'm way too tired today.

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

As you can see, she is a Mio type.

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

She also came with her summer outfit.

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

I had a few things waiting for her arrival.
(I did not actually get the socks on as its over the knees and it seemed really tight and I didn't want to risk staining her by tugging too hard.)

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

She's gorgeous and took my breath away just opening the box.

Yumi: Stop staring and get me outta here!

*Rustle Rustle*

(20 minutes later, I finally get her dress, wig, and glasses on. I gave up on the socks.)

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

I know it's winter but it's always too warm in my apartment so a light summer dress is perfect for now.

Yumi: Ahhhh, finally I have some clothes on.

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

She's already getting comfortable in front of the camera.

Yumi: Oh, you're one of those types. Taking photos of everything and everyone.

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

I had one more present waiting for her.

Yumi: Eh?! For me?!

Mouseover = load notes.
Welcoming my first daughter

Looks like Yumi and Gloomy are getting along just fine. As you can see, even though she's a Mio type in looks, she's a lot tougher. She's still a bit reserved as she's getting used to her new home but I'm sure more of her Tsun side will show itself soon enough.

    Yes, even with specific "types" there are subtle variations that make YOUR girl special and different and your very own. My Yumiko-tan is a Yukino type. There is a literal horde of Yukinos sprinkled throughout Dollfie Dream fandom. However, since every one gets a hand painted faceup, none of them are exactly alike. And then, when you start changing out wigs and figuring out your girl's "fashion sense," you make her more and more a unique character.

    Here's Yumiko-tan with another Yukino:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/msgeek/4773632472/

    And Yumiko and another doll of the same sculpt (DDH-03) this one not even having a faceup yet:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/msgeek/4773103333/

    Seriously...it's not your imagination. Every Dollfie Dream is a little bit different.

      The more Dollfies I see the more I realize that's true. I've already ordered 3 more wigs and I'm looking for more outfits and other toys to really bring out her personality. It should be a fun ride helping her find herself. :)

      Thank you!

      Mio Dollfie is such a unique girl. Now might be a good time to get her since many people are going to try to get Saber Lily Dollfie. I'm seeing lots of Mios on YAJ right now.

      Mika is a great name. Do you have an image planned for her already?

      Yup! She finally got here. Absolutely adore her. I think she'll fit in here just fine. Now to see if she brainwashes my cat to take over the apartment or not.

      I need to get lots of accessories and outfits for her. I hope I can find something decent for her until I can return to Japan. Thanks for all the inspiration!

      Thanks!

      I just noticed that you're in NYC also. Any suggestions for places to get Dollfie usable stuff in town? I'd imagine clothes and wigs would be hard to get here but what about accessories and a stand? Having to ship everything from Asia gets so pricey after a while.

        As you might have guessed, I have not found a place in NYC yet that sells Dollfie items. I bought mostly everything from YJA and Volks USA. My friend SleeplessOtaku and I plan to go around NYC sometime this month to find some dollfie accessories. Want to tag along? The more the merrier I say. Email me at outbreak721@yahoo.com and we can discuss more. Glad to find another DD owner in the same city. =D

    Congrats on your first daughter! The look you have for her is very nicely done. Ms. Geek is correct in that all DD's are unique and finding thier personality is quite fun. It will be nice to see how your girl turns out!

    As for little bits and pieces, you can get cool laptop sets from American Girl. And Jessica at Nightfall has a lot of little 1/3 scale goodies at her site now. And of course ebay has loads of things to find. Have fun looking and let us know what you get!

        I am not sure if *all* AG goods are to DD scale but that laptop is. I also got a backpack from them that fit my DDdy very well. Zakuro here on Figurefm can tell you better on AG stuff because she has on eof their stores near her.

        LOL about Jessicas site! I have spent many monies with her and I have been delighted everytime. She is a very good seamstress and is very nice to talk with. If you look in my table posts here, you can see some of the accessories that I got from her recently like the little printer in the end table post. She also may still have some 1/3 food items left too.
