You can(not) have enough Optimus Primes
There are many kinds of collectors. New Pre-Order Loot collectors of the latest anime content, and there are also ones who search the corners of Ebay and the Earth for really rare loot. In this case .. the Tomytakara Masterpieces of the Transformers G1. I come from the era of the 1980s and i pretty much adapted to the latest content. The price? Giving up on collecting the old stuff from the 1980s.
However my brother (@mGlacius) has taken my place and started collecting the old school stuff coz he finds it very cool. My influence? I aint even sure. But it sure does help me save more money for the anime loot! Haha! Sharing a few pics of the experiences we both went thru.
Location: Soon to be opened Collectors' Museum/Toy Shop in Hobart, Australia

this is my brother .. super happy face with his loot

the dead Optimus Prime complete with trailer (not movie trailer) from the 1980s Transformers G1 movie

This is Unicron. Appeared in the TF G1 movie as well.

This is the store owner (Wookie). That little contraption is a zapper device. It pumps u full of electricity. You have no idea how many ppl have been suckered to touching that thing. THAT THING IS SOMETHING EPIC PRANKSTERS MUST HAVE!

The Primes that existed throughout the years from the 1980s to 2010s. There were other Primes, but i wanna keep those a secret for now. Until the place is finally opened.

I kid u not when i said Toy Museum, i found this Marvel Badass among the collection. His name is Professor X (aka Onslaught) .. responsible for killing off more than half of the Marvel Heroes in the Marvel Comic Universe.

Each Prime has stats cards. In this one, they are all NIL .. coz he is dead. Duh!

'Dead' Prime comes with a 'Ghost' Trailer

The 1980s Prime .. look at the size comparisons.

So many Primes! Optimus Prime (Red), Ultra Magnus (White), Dead Prime (Grey) and Nemesis Prime (Black)

Primes! Transform and Roll Out!

Could not resist messing around with the toys.
"DECEPTICON! ATTACK!!"

*PEW PEW PEW*

Prime "One shall stand .. one shall fall!"

Transformer toys were way smaller in the 1980s. But there were some really big ones too!

TF G1 Starscream Masterpiece. I didnt have the manual but he was tricky to transform without the manual.
Starscream "Decepticons! Follow me to VICTORY!"

More *pew pew*?

Like the original trailer of the 1980s toys. It turns into a Repair Bay.

There was a problem with the 'Dead' Optimus, had some leg issues which prevented him from transforming. Needed some fixing.

'Dead' Prime had a malfunctioned leg .. maybe that is what that got him killed.

@mGlacius spent like 1 hour 15 minutes to fix up the already dead Prime.
'Dead' Prime "Wait .. i .. still .. function ...!!"

Ultra Magnus "Stop bullying the new guy .. old guy .. dead guy .. ummmm .."
Nemesis Prime was very tsun-tsun towards the 'new loot' Prime.

Its pretty weird to see ur own corpse.

Thats the color comparison between the dead and the living.

Wookie could not resist but to let bloody Smeagol join in "MY PRECIOUSSSSSSS"

Even tho they are toys, its always important to keep them properly cared for and maintained.

MORE than meets the eyes!
just wait when the rest of the Transformers are on display.
I have a friend who will be very jealous when he sees these pictures.
one can never have enough Optimus Primes. Haha, in this shop, there are plenty of Transformer toys from the 1980s and onwards in the back.
Loose oppai?
now that is some serious collection of transformers!!AMAZING!! :D
Seems like my brother is on a mission to collect the Masterpieces from TomyTakara
Niceeeeee!!
As I'm looking at this, I feel a sense of nostalgia. Ahhh, good old days. :3
Nothing beats the classics
I'm jealous! I've one big transformer collection as well. And some strange ones!
Hands VS Guns ...EPIC!!
*Pokes* ...dead confirm xD
Still got my original Optimus from the 80's as well as quite a few others like Soundwave and Jetfire. Don't know how I got my mom to buy it for me.
Dad buying ok, convincing mothers to buy it? A miracle lol .. Well that's how mine went.
I still have a G1 Optimus from the 80's too. Though, the one I have doesn't have a trailer that served as a repair bay. The trailer can transform into a base and is also a larger body that the regular optimus figure can plug into if the rear part of his transformed truck mode is folded up.
That's the Power Master Optimus Prime from the 1990s, Japanese TF. Before the Star Saber series. Think it's called Master Force. You have a small guy called Hiq that 'unlocks' Prime's transformation mode and has two grey guns that Hiq can sit on?
Yea, there's a smaller figure that plugs into Prime's grill and there are two grey guns. But it can't be a transfomer from the 90's. I got it while I was still in the Phillipines. I moved back to the states before 1990.
Powermaster Prime was released in '88. The toy was also remolded somewhat for release in Japan as Super Ginrai, gaining a die-cast cab front and clear windows. I remember saving up for PM Prime back in the day, and being so excited to get him, probably cause my original Prime was beat to hell and back!
I HAVE THAT SMEAGOL FIGURE!! hahaha bought it from universal studios, yours?
Nope. Belonged to the store owner lol
Sleep mode Convoy! Nice! I've got something like 125 Primes myself... Somehow they keep coming up with cool new ones.
"You, who is without mercy, now pleads for it? I thought you were made of sturner stuff!"
