What is missing on figure fm?

what do you think could be added to make the site a better, more interactive site? personally, I think a chat box on the main page would be pretty cool~ but the site is nice as is also. easy to navigate, alot of GUI, nice colors, and mirai stares at you on every page~~ and pictures of food over at dannychoo makes me drool :P nothing like it around where I live. miss my time back in Taiwan~~

Two things: One, the header ads suck up a lot of space, especially now with the Figma Mirai banner. I understand the point of having them there, but this is a leetle bit much.
And two: THE ABILITY TO EDIT COMMENTS. Please! I know I'm not the only one who's had to make a whole new comment just to correct a typo.
But that's really it.
yeah, that is true, few times I wanted to edit what I wrote, then remember..."oh yeah, can't edit comments on this site" :P
so I try to be more careful~
A preview to edit before commiting to publish could be an option, with the opportunity to drag and drop images exactly where required.
I don't post often, but this would make life a lot easier.

1. A pm system. This would make contacting each other possible, easier to make friends and even helpful to give out warnings for the mods.
2. Edit comment option, or even better, to delete it. (People have been requesting the edit option back since 2007 as far as I can remember).

Yep, I am with you guys. Either editing or deleting comments would rock. And the only other thing I can see needing is a PM system of some sort. Other than this, the site is excellent.
1. There's the "report" button under each comment..
2. Danny once said he doesn't like an edit/delete button cos rude/flaming comments can easily be altered or erased.
but a comment if someone finds it rude, person who sees it can just report it and they'll know what they originally said. if it is a rude comment that nobody saw or find offensive, then, it doesn't really matter
or maybe if a post is edited there is an *edit symbol and hides original msg but, saves it so admin can see what it is originally. nobody wants to see rude msgs on the posts anyways :P
There was one on figure.fm but it was removed a while back.
Not everyone here is all smiles with a good life. Sure some people may say something mean, sometimes unintentional, sometimes something bad is going on at the time of them posting. I'm sure plenty of people have wished there was a chance to go back and retract what they said because deep down they really didn't mean it in the first place and they feel bad.
Lately with the upped authority and new mods, I personally feel a little intimidated/nervous to post or give my opinion on some things due to the fear of being banned, like many old members. There aren't any second chances or warnings for a mistake or a misunderstanding here.

You can with g-mail, well you get 20 seconds to "undo" =p
but it takes a few seconds to realize you sent something you shouldn't have, and by the time you realize, you go scrabbling about on what to do, and by the time you figure it out, it is too late xD

Unintentional or not, the person on the receiving end is the victim.
I was personally bullied for my entire schooling life and its not going to happen on my watch.
Bullying (cyber/physical or "unintentional" is unacceptable and I will do everything I can do to protect anybody on the receiving end of the stick.

Well, then I suppose just a pm system and not an edit option. Sometimes I reply to an older topic I found interest in but no one checks it anymore so it goes un-noticed. Just thought of that =x
well those are extreme cases, like people who commits crime because of watching the virtual world. but yeah that would be understandable~

I think it'd be nice to have a way to add pictures to the comment section. I remember a while back there was some sort of contest here showing off our desks/workspaces, and each entry was its own topic. All the other topics kinda got lost in between entries.
I'm not sure if that's exactly how it happened, as I wasn't really a regular here since recently.
I think there should be a tab for especially popular posts for the week, or month, or something :P

There was and still is a popular tab. It used to have its own tab, but is now currently located in the "More Goodies" tab. The tab isn't quite as specific as you mention, but it is there.

Authoring original posts seems a bit backwards, at least for me, but maybe I'm not doing it right? It's weird that you write text, add images, but you don't get the chance to organize things. There's only a publish button and then it's live immediately and only then can you go and do further edits. It just seems you'd want to do all of that and then submit when you were happy with it.
well....I think there is a button so that it is invisible to other users
If you upload using the Upload tab at the top of the page, there is an option where you can make your post invisible to other members until you decide it's ready.
Click the orange "+ Show other settings" link and then uncheck the Visible box before clicking Publish.
This is what I do. I never use the uploader that is above the Hobby Search Ranking because it does not allow you to do this.
Ah, thank you. My eyes always seem to skip over that. I'd say one change would be to make those settings more visible.
maybe a way for other users to hide comments where would be inappropriate. like the ones at amazon community and yahoo articles, where certain numbers of voted down automatically hides the comment.

non figure related should be limited as well, sometimes there's too much.

There are tabs which you can click to see what you want, there's no need to go and decrease the amount of non-figure posts. Dannychoo.com doesn't allow you to post anymore, therefore us DCers have to come to figure.fm to post non-figure related posts.

I think: - PM option/chat, thumbs up/down like on youtube and personalised profiles. Maybe even a little interactive Mirai screen buddy on the page somewhere to poke now and again ^^;

The way I search for things as of now is click a tag, and then replace the tags in the url with keywords I want to search for.
