Pre-painted 1/4 Volk's KOS-MOS

No, I'm not kidding. As you have seen before, the lovely 1/4 Volk's KOS-MOS caused many people's jaws to drop in sheer amazement of this stunning figure, but unfortunately, it was only available as a garage kit.
However E2046 is released a pre-painted and assembled version as part of their 'Gathering' line, which gets kits and turns them into mass produced PVC figures, however they're usually pretty expensive; But very high quality.
I'm sure I'm one of many people who want this figure but lack talent in the GK-painting area - I doubt I could do it justice.

There's no pre-painted images as of yet, however preorders are already open for a decent price considering the retail price of the kit - 50400 yen. The price of Pre-painted KOS-MOS is $389.99, but it's currently on 30% off.

http://www.e2046.com/product.php?products_id=10444

Is there anyone here who would actually have the funds and the want to buy this? I know I'd just LOVE it, but I severely lack the money for it. Your thoughts?

Not on a regular basis, but this Kos-Mos was selected in their choice station by the customer (like myself) to want to see a pre-painted version. It came out of the selection process within a few days because of popularity.

Hmm... tempting. Technically, so is the price (but it still hurts lol). Must contemplate this.

Wouldn't buy it. I love KOS-MOS to death, but there's a point where the price is way too steep. I wouldn't pay over $300 for a figure/statue. I'd much rather buy a second PS3.

well if the paint job is as good as the one shown, why not? I could, I've spent more on camera lenses this what this figure is going for.

If the final product is as marvelous as the photo, then hell yeah!

Saw her in person at the Volks Showroom in Akiba. Probably the best figure ever made. Maybe the most expensive figure ever made too.

Tempting to buy but I would feel guilty paying that much for a figure. I usually like to spend around 10,000 - 13,000 yen max for a figure.

I love this Kos-Mos but I'm already satisfied owning the Alter version. This has to be one of the best figures ever made though. The price is totally understandable. I will forever envy anyone who manages to get it. It is a piece of art.

I have to agree, the one offered by Hobbyfan is a lot more appealing but is it a recast? or really from volks?

Also have anyone ever seen this magnetic tech? what about their paint quality? are they really good?

Wow, people still balk at the price even though it's less than half the price of an unpainted original!!!

I'm still trying to decide if I want to get an original or lose my cred among the gk community but save some pennies by getting a recast. Only have a week to choose...

Tho I must admit that I hate it when E put a kit I want into gathering. It feels like it's cheapened my own purchases.

      Because it's e2046. It's a recast, so it's cheaper. (also unofficial, but some don't mind I guess.)

you forgot lower quality and (for some) morally ambiguous. but for that kinda price, I think even their most avid detractors will be having second thoughts

    To Saviour
well... after careful consideration, I have decided to go with the E2046 pre-painted version, since most of their recent gathering figure has shown some pretty impressive quality.

It is true that the $300 price tag is gonna hurt, but considering the original is at $500 unpainted orz
anyway, hopefully E2046 will reproduce similar painting job than the one shown, if yes this is
gonna be my first (already pre order) and yet probably last 1/4 figure

PS.... dam it, I want my PS3 FFXIII Bundle pack fund back

to tell you the truth, after comparing the two version (E2046 and hobbyfan)
I have decided to stick with E2046
I like the coloring of hobbyfan better, (white clothes, better contrast, etc.
but one thing bothers me for the hobbyfan version... her face
what made me fell in love with this figure originally is her face,
don't get me wrong, her facial feature on hobbyfan is fine. but it just ..... not the same feeling
so... I guess i will try to push e2046 and ask them to perfect their coloring scheme... orz

She's beautiful and while I have paid $300 for a figure (Volks TTGL by E2046) I really don't have the money right now to buy KOS-MOS and furthermore I don't even know where I'd put her. She's stunning and I feel she'll be well worth the price.

I just preordered this figure through E2046. Sure it's a recast but at the moment that's only way you're gonna get a pre-painted version unless you buy the orignal GK & paint it yourself or find someone talented to do it for you, neither two an easy option for me. In my opinion I like the E2046 Gathering version better than the Hobbyfan, as I like the colors better and it comes with the extra base. This will be my first resin figure (albeit recast) as everything else I own is made of PVC/similar.

All versions of this Kos-Mos can cast off the armor bra section. Both E2046/Hobbyfan have the magnetic cast off feature exposing the breasts. But this is where the three differ - Volks original GK has 2 armor plates covering the nipple area thus keeping it censored. E2046 modify these plates to blend with the curve of the breast leaving the edge indentation of the armor. Hard to describe but take a look. Hobbyfan made theirs to look like a real pair of human breasts. I like E2046's method because it has more subtle natural look and still retains an "android" feel (after all, Kos-Mos is a robot) Hobbyfan's in my opinion seems more forced with real human nipples. I probably for the most part wont expose the breasts anyway but having the option is welcomed.

Yea, its expensive and I could buy a PS3 with that money but I already own a PS3. I'll probably be spending this money on other smaller lesser quality (but still good) figures as I build my collection up. But if I'm going to spend that kind of money eventually anyways why go for the small pickings? So instead I chose to go grab the bigger prize before I start running out of room. Let's not forget also, this is 1/4 scale.. thats big!

When I saw this figure for the first time earlier in the year, my jaw dropped like everyone else I'm sure. I dont think I've ever scene a more beautiful and nearly flawless sculpt. There weren't any options then for a pre-painted version. Look forward to seeing this when it's released soon. Can't wait!

Everybody have their own opinion. For me the Hobbyfan's idea of human nipples for Kos Mos was the better option because of Kos Mos is an android with human body so her nipples should look like a Human's Nipples.
