Figure Mod Re-Paint Phase One

Posted by optimisticpenguin101 [www]

I have just begun the first stage of my figure costume repaint. I am re-painting my Revoltech Hotrodimus, and my Fraulein IdolMaster figures. This afternoon I began the first lot of painting, doing the first coat of metalic black.

Hotrodimus I am painting Metalic black with gloss orange details, this is the first coat of black paint, and just re-coated the hands with gloss as they were already painted orange.

The first lot of IdolMaster's to be repainted Haruka and Mami, They are going to be painted Metalic black, with Gold Leaf coloured ribbons and details, basically where their costume is black I am repainting metalic black and where there is white and pink it will be gold. The silver cuffs are Ami's, her and Miki are going to be metalic pink and silver :D

I used tape to make sure I didn't make a mess on the other parts of the figures, I tried without to begin with but got some black on Mami's chest, will have to sort that out at some point. In the last picture you can see the comparison of the colours, Haruki's original black ribbon and the metalic black she now has :D

You can use thinner and soft cloth of some kind to clean up the accidental paint. Interested in seeing the final result!

Very cool, can't wait to see the result as well. Just wondering, are you painting over the factory paint or did you strip the factory paint first?

I am just painted over the original paint, I think trying to remove the factory paint first would be a bit difficult, as I only want to repaint the clothing parts!

    This looks meticulously made...
I would be afraid of messing up...
Good luck. I would love to see your results.
