*Unrelated Image*

Would I be able to purchase figures from, say, Ami Ami using a debit card? Can anyone please emphasize / explain?

And does anybody know some sites that accept Debit cards and/or please mention figure/anime sites that don't?

Thanks :)

EDIT: Yes, I did mean through paypal ^^;

I think i cannot, since you need cvv to all online purchases!
You can always use paypal, transfer money from your debit card and buy stuff!|

I'm actually paying by debit card right now and it works on sites like
HLJ, AmiAmi, Otacute, etc. The only thing is, I am transferring the funds
through paypal (not into my paypal balance, but through it).

I pay for everything really using paypal, all you do is set your bank account up with paypal and it just pays using that, by taking the money from your account by using your card. ^^

I think as long as your debit card is a visa debit card, that's what I use some times, but yeah pay pay is easier :)

I use my debit card for paypal all the time ^^
My bank account is on paypal as im verified, and i used my debit card numbers when i was asked for credit card ones haha. So if my "credit card" is out of money it looks in my bank account, which is rxactly the same place my debit card points to lol.

I use my debit card to transfer my funds through PayPal (max 3 working days for your funds to arrive in your Paypal account). So yeah, PayPal all the way if you wanna buy from AmiAmi and other stores.

I guess it must be different in other places or something... I have to wait at least a week for money from my bank account to transfer.

Yes, the PayPal bank account is located in Belgium which I live in the area closer to where they are, so transferring funds from my bank account only takes a short 2-3 days max.

I was surprised it only takes 3 days here when I used PayPal for the first time, while others in another country have to wait at least a week or more for their funds to arrive.

here in the US, it's instant to pull funds from my bank account with no waiting period - by far the easiest way to buy things online.

Why does anyone transfer funds into their paypal account? Just link your debit card and you can use unlimited funds instantly.

maybe to feel more safe? imagine someone somehow got your paypal id pw, he can straight away take all your money at once. although i counter that by using a sub bank account with just enough money to buy 4-5 figures at any given time.

You can run most debit cards as credit, So it shouldn't be a problem, how ever as most people have said, pay pal is easier.

that's actually not very common outside the US, but is becoming more so. You can only do this if your debit card has a VISA / etc logo on it aswell.

You can definitely pay on AmiAmi with a Debit Card via Paypal; I've done so many times before on there as well as HLJ, Otacute, and a few others. I think all stores will unless otherwise specified.

It also depends on the *type* of debit card. For example, Visa issue two types of debit card, at least in the UK. Visa Electron can't always be used for online transactions, nor can they be used in those old-fashioned paper imprint machines because their numbering is printed not embossed (this is what I was issued when I was 14) whilst Visa Delta (often referred to simply as 'Visa Debit' these days) can be used for online transactions, imprint machines & anywhere that the 'Visa' logo is displayed, such as in the left column of HLJ's website.

I always pay via Paypal at p;laces like HLJ, Amiami & Hobby Search.

My Bank Account is connected to my Paypal account via a direct debit which means they take the money direct from my bank ccount about 2-3 days later.
By paying this way, i not only get paypal protection but i also get the DD protection that UK banks offer.

My debit card is connected to my paypal account as well as a back up incase the DD fails.

If i pay direct with my Debit card my bank charges a handling charge which i can avoid by paying with PP.

AmiAmi is paypal only for outside of Japan, so you'll just have to check if said card works with Paypal.

I live in Canada, and my experience with linking my debit card to PayPal has always brought me to the conclusion that Ebay and most sites would not accept the payments because their "instant payment" (or something similar to that) is actually a hidden 3 day+ process. Again I'm in Canada. In the US all of the payments are a few days less(about 5 business days instead of 8 for canada), so where you live may affect if this works for you or not.

Hopefully it works in your area, goodluck!

Well I'm on a Mastercard Debit and I'm currently purchasing from AmiAmi, HLJ and HobbySearch using paypal. Paypal accepts the use of debit cards (don't quote me: as long as there VISA's or MasterCards).

You really shouldn't use you debit card directly online. If the number was to get stolen there is no protection on what someone would buy from it like there is on a credit card.

Linking your debit card/bank account with paypal is the safest way. That is of course assuming that paypal's information doesn't get compromised!

If you have a debit card, and want to buy something from the internet, you should get your own PayPal accnt. It's easy to use. But take note. Not all Banks with debit cards accepts PayPal. Like here in the Philippines, only one bank accepts PayPal using Debit Cards.

Check your card logo, if it has a [Electron] or something else on your Master or Visa Logo, it is likely cannot work with online stores.

lol, i had the same questions when i started buying figures. I always use my own debit card when buying things that require import, especially figures and games. I don't know about AmiAmi, but I am sure Play-Asia and Toylet.net allow u to use debit cards; they work just like credit cards, without the hassle of a bill. I buy electronics from Play-Asia and figures from Toylet. Both seller are great, as I have not yet run into any problems with either seller involving authenticity. I think Hobby Link Japan told me u could try, but it probably won't work for them.
Also, all sellers that accept debit card told me a debit card is fine as long as it's from Visa or Mastercard.

Sorry for the double-post, but u prob should listen to the people above. getting a paypal (and possibly in conjunction with a debit card) is prob best, if not the best, though i have not used it yet. but hey, it's your choice of how u want to pay.
