MSN-06S Sinanju
Hi all,
This is the last gunpla I built this year, the MSN-06S Sinanju. This MG is just mean... both to look at and also the amount of work needed to build it. It took me around 3 months to paint and assemble (I'm a slow worker... lol) but the end result was very satisfying. I used Tamiya spray cans (TS-series) for the paintjob, which consist of mostly clear red. I got to be a bit careful when posing this fella since I did not use any top coat to seal the paint/decals in.
This pose was inspired by a figure.fm entry by one of the regulars during previous gundam giveaway contest. It was a really badass entry by yunamon featuring a Gundam Crossbone mimic-ing a Storm Rider pose. I had to give it a try as well... hope you don't mind... ^_^
I started late on gunplas, and I have about 5 models at the moment after jumping aboard the Bandai ship about a year ago. Other than sanding... I would say it's been great fun ;)

Wow that first pic blew me away. Very nice! Reminds me of Mask Rider Kiva Emperor ^^
Great to see your Sinanju again ^^. Lovin'g the Gendou pose xD
Oh yea... how about some action shots too? yea? :D
Salute the patience on taking this shots. Must have been a pain with ze fingerprint smudges ^_~
It is GLORIOUS! SIEG ZEON!!
gosh, now this is shock and awe! well done!!!!
one word: EPIC!
That is one freakin' AWESOME pose!! And so shiney, but in a good way, a properly good shiney way!!
Hawt!
Was the gold parts painted by hand/brush or did you accomplish it by using an airbrush?
Very nice paintjob, is there a metallic base under the clear red? or is it just clear red ontop of the plastic?
Also I love the internal skeleton, some sort of metallic black? How was that achieved?
But wow, i'm seeing quite a few very impressive Sinajus and this is one of them.
absolutely beautiful work there! sieg zeon!
Thanks seth!
chubbybots, kodomut, Kagekyuubi, Wolfman-X, SMiLEy, Meimi132, FatBastard : Thx!
zyuan : Yo! Will try and get some actions shots... if only the joints weren't so stiff... lol.
Lelouch Lamperouge : The gold parts were handbrushed on.
Kushieda : I sprayed a layer of Silver Leaf onto the bare plastic, before putting on 3 layers of Clear Red. The internal frame was sprayed with Light Gunmetal ;)
Jaw drops. This is one of the Best shinju's i have ever seen....
Salute!
Amazing work with the painting, love the pose, it makes it stand out more.
Planing to buy this Gunpla because I saw that theres an exclusive coin(If memory serves ) for Singaporeans and Malaysians
Zh3uS, Tachikaze : Domo arigato!
JakeTheFake : A buddy helped me source this one from Time Square in KL... I got the one without the exclusive coin coz it's slightly cheaper... ;)
Holy...that is some straight up mecha eye candy right there. *drool*
wow, very very nice painting..^^
this makes me want to buy a Sinanju too..XD
Ashlotte : Hey... thanks!
rusinstein : Do get one, it'll make one heck of an addition to your collection ;)
the thing looks amazing
definitely one of the TOP 3 sinanjus i have ever seen
how did you do the gold trim?
ed142 : I extracted some gold paint from a hardware store gold aerosol paint can. I then used this to hardbrush the gold trims.
awesome!
Thanks!
Great Paint Job!
Glad u liked it ;)
Wow, i normally don't like glossy coats on my models, but this looks fantastic! very well done!
Thanks Grimmjoww Pepperjack!
i only have one word for the MG Sinanju and especially for yours: BADASS
so, just clear red?¿ i want my sinanju to look as cool as yours xD
Yeah... it's basically a single basecoat of silver followed by several coats of clear red. Tat's it ;)
Would you recommend Silver Leaf + Clear Red rather than White Primer + Metallic Red?
I have the primer + metallic red combo and im skeptical about it
Hi zero_four. It depends on what kind of a look you're looking for. The silver leaf was used so that there is a reflective base for the clear red which is transparent. This gives it a 'juicy' looking glossy red which looks almost like wet paint. Using white primer + metallic red (not translucent) would give it a more metal looking red; sorta like anodized steel, which would look cool too. It really boils down to your preference.
one word to describe it...awesome. Btw, could you how you give yer Sinanju the red metallic look and where can I buy the paint for it???
Thanks am. The red look is achieved with a single base layer of Tamiya silver leaf and 3 coats of Tamiya clear red. You should be able to buy these Tamiya spraycans (TS series) at any good hobby shop which stock gunplas ;)
What topcoat did you use if I may ask?
Er... I didn't use any top coat on my Sinanju... ran out of $$$... lol...
Waahh? Really? The problem with my Red Frame is the Red gets scraped off a bit whenever it hits another part! That's why I had to apply a topcoat! Did you experience that problem too?
Yeah man... plenty. I had to touch up the scraped bits everytime I reposed the Sinanju. Then I got sick of it and left it in one position in the display case and haven't touched it since... hahaha...
Now I know why your kit is shinier and glossier than mine, the MrHobby Super Clear is killing the shine off my kit, plus I think you've got a better cam too hehe, thanks man! Your Sinanju is the best on the net, hands down!
Bro, how do you do it like that? This is just so... Wow... No wonder zero_four was inspired. I'd also love to see his finished work.
Thanks bro for your kind words. Looking around figure.fm... there's a lot more customized sinanjus which are totally mind blowing... very humbling to see all these amazing works... ^_^
Yep, I saw many variations of the Sinanju bro but yours rank among the top 3. You have the concept of the sleek, glossy, wet paint-look. If that were a real gundam, I wouldn't send it off to battle. Hehehe...
I'm in cloud nine now... LOL... arigato... ;)
I think you desreve it for your outstanding work.
