These will be standard, right?

Right, so I came onto the VOLKS website and noticed they now have standard face-up heads! I remember Ms. Geek saying something about this, but I was confused at first, but wow! Yukino head looks a little angry, don'tcha think? Haha, I really wanna go for the 03 head, I got my money this month, so hopefully, fingers crossed! Hehehehehe!!! Danke shon, Ms. Geek!

These go up for sale this weekend, but I didn't see anything that said they would be standard. There's more about them in the Sumika Times blog on the website. Good luck^^

Reading more closely on the fine print, it appears that the only way to guarantee you will be able to get one of each head is if you order as soon as possible after the stated date and time, and order ONLY one of each exactly per person (they are apparently cancelling entire orders that attempt to purchase more than one of these in an attempt to stamp out profiteering on limited releases, and I feel doing it this way is certainly more laudable than the random win/lose that happens with oversubscribed lottery sales.)

If they run out before you hit the order button, that's it. They MAY get more in if they can get more from Japan and there's enough sour faces in the Volks USA mailboxes after sales close, but it's not a sure thing.

It's not the end of the world. if you can't get these ltd ed faceup option heads, there's always getting the blank heads that are always available (if in stock) and commissioning a fellow doll artist to do a faceup. The ltd edition faceups for this collection are rather plain, so it's easy for any OOAK faceups you commission to easily outstrip them. it just means a little more time and dime.

Or you could take a blind leap of faith and do your own faceup on said blank with a little Mr Super Clear UV Cut Matte spray and a bit of pale/dark acrylics and chalkdust. if it turns out poorly, you can probably erase the mistake and try again later.

One more thing: if you're getting either the plain standard or ltd edition faceups of these heads or any other, chances are you'll need to get fresh eyes and something to hold the eyes in like DD-friendly eye putty - these do NOT come with eyes, by default. I neglected to mention that in my reading of the terms from the site, and for that, I apologise.

I don't think Yukino really looks angry. I've always thought the default Aoi head looked angry/pissed/irritated.

it's all in the eyebrow and eyeshape mainly. afaict, a lot of dollfies tend to have relatively limited curving in their lips. Escalayer, Mai and Yoko's face sculpts were probably outliers. Even Miu Amaha smiles are extremely subtle.

If you're in the US, you can also contact Kerbey Lane and ask to be put on their lottery for them... you find out the results before the Volks lottery so you know if you need to try for the Volks one or not.

But yeah, these painted heads will not be regular items on the website... they are just items for the Dollfie Dream Gathering event. As soon as they are sold out on the website, they are gone.

why get all hung up on it? In a pinch, if you can get Zoukeimura UV cut spray instead, use that instead. I'm not sure exactly why Volks suddenly replaced MSC with that stuff, but it's not like MSC suddenly stopped working on Volks dolls or ZKM has been known to cause any sort of issues.

Terrorists. It's always terrorists. Maybe if Western businesses worked to produce vinyl-friendly alternatives to MSC and ZKM UVCut sprays right there and then, we wouldn't be lamenting the problematic absence of these sprays in many shops in the West.

well, ZK is what Volks stocks now, and Mr Super Cut is what they used to stock until one day suddenly. As for Teslors Dullkote, some folks swear by it, but neither Volks International or USA have ever stocked it, so its effectiveness may not be really there except in hearsay.

I think the trick is not to mix different coat sprays unless you absolute have no choice when doing a fresh reface-up.

These will not be standards, these are limited heads from the Dollfie Dream Gathering 2010 event. Usually Volks USA only get a few of the limited items in stock and popular items might sell out within 1 day.
