Nice, now we don't have to go through the process of sending them an email to cancel the order. This is way more convenient.

I'm hoping that there aren't any harsh penalties for too many cancellations.
I'm kind of a frequent canceler.. I don't mean the trouble, it's just that I can be quite indecisive when it comes to buying figures. And figure releases/budgets can be quite unpredictable too.

I like their past rule since there is no 1 week limit for cancellation only when the item is instock or ready to ship,

Oh crap, I misinterpreted the rule. I thought they meant it was okay to cancel until one week before the item is in stock. Not sure how I ended up thinking that. But that rule would seem a bit more reasonable imo. D:

Well then. In that case, I am completely and utterly screwed.

I had to read the "Preorders can be cancelled until one week after preorders open" a few times to get what they're saying: if a preorder opens on 01 Feb 2011, you have until 08 Feb 2011 to do a cancellation.

I'm not keen on the rule change, though I must say I've been expecting it. I suppose it can't be helped, as HobbySearch is trying to compete against AmiAmi in pricing. With a lower profit margin, they would probably find it more difficult to take in too much inventory, which might occur under their previous cancellation rule.

I've recently moved back to HobbySearch from AmiAmi, due to HobbySearch user menu system which allows me to track my orders and the option to easily cancel pre-orders through the user menu. However, this rule change has given me pause, as I occasionally pre-order items on an impulse.

      Same here! We need to plan more carefully from now on! No more "oh I don't need this , cancel!" anymore! ^^;

I've canceled a bunch but bought more than I cancelled. Thank goodness I cancelled everything I didn't want before this was enacted.

Looks like no more pre-ordering for me, I'll just troll the new releases and ninja the extra figures if I want it.

Yes its kind of a shame. I always buy from Hobby Search because they allowed cancelling of preorders. But now I'll just buy from AmiAmi considering that they both now hasve the same rules but AmiAmi is cheaper.

Good thing I already cancelled some pre-orders before the new cancellation rule. Also I dont like the new rule, I like the old rules better cuz I get to sent them an email for them to cancel my stuff. It makes everything so much easier.

From now on I will order from AmiAmi after I use my ¥10,000 points on Hobby Search, HS also changed their pricing from 20% less now only 15% discount ):

Yeah, after I've used up most of my points I'll switch to AmiAmi for the cheaper price. Since there's no benefit of a more reasonable cancel I might as well go for the savings.

Same here after Phantom Mind gets released and I use all my points up. Really no point in sticking with HS if they don't let you cancel. They do know that ppl can just not pay and go use AmiAmi instead right if they have such an inflexible cancellation policy...

"Although we stated before that we will be adjusting pricing, we are currently working
out the details of the changes."

That's what they reply to me when I emailed them about the new cancellation policy but didn't see any changes in there pricing.

They said they would make up for it with price changes, so let's see if anything changes.

I have been mulling over whether to cancel my preorder on GSC's Mio, but I completely lost the track of dates so I guess it has been decided without me XD I'm waiting for you, my maid Mio!

I'm not a fan of this change. Their cancellation policy was one of the main reasons I used their shop. Amiami has better prices and HLJ now has a better cancellation policy. Not much reason left to stay with Hobby Search...

I completely understand the rule change. Haveing 200 people preorder, and being ready to fill those orders just to have 70 of them cancel just a few days before wreaks havoc on a business.

I would feel embaressed if I cancelled things all the time.

I think not, not all of the pre-orders were still onstock after they are released but on AmiAmi majority of the released items can still be orderable despite their irrevocable order policy.

I'm with you. This policy is completely reasonable. If you must cancel, do the right thing by the store and don't do it so late - fair enough if they want to start making that a rule.

People like me cancel a lot but end up buying more from the same store. I liked hs because i keep getting the feeling that amiami charges a lot on shipping. I got big boxes with stuffing via ems. I felt so relieved when hs requested payment of 1000yen sal shipping.

Somehow the discounts are different between the english site vs japanese site. Do you know if international buyers can order via japanese site instead?

The discounts is different because ppl buying in Japan has to pay a consumption tax.

You can try buying using the Japanese site, but you'd have to go through proxies. You may end up paying more paying the proxy fees.

I saw this posting last on their website and immediately sent my last cancellations on some of my items. Its very unfortunate they had to place these news rules since now I see no reason to order from them anymore once I use my remaining point with them. I save alot of cash with amiami but I loved hobbysearch's user menu and cancellation policies. Oh well, guess I better plan a bit more thoroughly for my future purchases ---- with amiami.

i'm happy with my Amiami :D
Amiami is good enough to understand my reasons when canceling.
only time i shopped at Hobbysearch anyway is when i forget to order a released figure and sold-out @ amiami. second choice.
i have the 3 figures (the 3 HotD girls) pre-ordered at hobbysearch, to be released this feb and march, and can't cancel them if i want to...

    I have always used AmiAmi so this doesn't affect me. ^ ^;

One time, the order was ready to be paid and I forgot to cancel it, even then at that point they let me cancel it. :0

I keep track of my orders in my e-mail so I have no problem at all! ^ ^

That's stupid! I was going on HobbySearch to see if I could cancel 2 of my pre-orders and they won't let me cancel them. I understand why people are calling it rude to cancel, but my problem is....the item i'm trying to cancel won't be coming out till April and June! ( Yes, their 2 figma's~ ) I had pre-ordered them on HobbySearch because they don't make you pay before the item comes out ( which gives me time to save my money~), but I don't plan on using them ever again. AmiAmi and HLJ suit me just fine! :)

UGH. I'm basically freaking out here right now.
I accidentally pre-ordered two of the same figure before the new rules, and I just found out I can't afford them anymore. T__T And it won't let me cancel on the user menu, so I sent them an e-mail explaining the situation. I REALLY don't want to wind up with two of the same figure, especially if I can't afford/want it anymore.
Needless to say, I'm never ordering from Hobby Search ever again. I'm sticking to AmiAmi, kay thanks.

I'm sure they will cancel the 2nd one since you pre-ordered it by accident.
