L33Tdpunk's Workspace Rewind
I'm in the process of moving again, and this got me thinking about my various workspaces from years past.
Having been published in Otacool3 this summer, I thought people might be (vaguely? ^^;; ) interested to see some of my workspaces from the past, so I thought I'd put this together.
Looking back through my pictures, I found workspaces from as early as September of 2005, representing my first workspace outside my parents' house.

My workspace in my college dorm room. I'm a little embarrassed by the mess. ^^; I still, however, think that this monitor is really cool. I have PIP (picture-in-picture) going on it in this shot, giving me the ability to watch TV while I do stuff on my computer. This was a WONDERFUL way to make use of the limited space in my dorm room. This picture is from September of 2005.

This is about a month after the first shot, showing my desk, tower, and the shelf with my printer on it. Again, I'm somewhat embarrassed by the mess. ^^;; Usually, the tower was tucked back next to the desk. I have no idea why it is pulled out in this picture. My computer is a custom rig here, comprised of an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+, 2 GB DDR SDRAM, two HDDs (sizes big, and BIG), an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT (later upgraded to a 7800), and Windows XP Pro. In 2005, it was kind of a big deal. Not so much anymore. ^^;
The desk itself has the COOLEST drawer though—it has a retractable top to it, so you can use it as a keyboard tray, or pull the top out and it becomes a desk extension. Perfect for working on multiple things with a small space.

This shot is a little inaccurate, but it's apparently the only one I have of my same tower, in my new apartment here in January of 2008. I moved into this place in August of 2006, and was still using the same monitor I previously had at that time. Between then and the time of the picture, I got a new, larger widescreen monitor, and began using the previous one exclusively as my television. The shot is inaccurate because the keyboard was rarely ever there—I actually put it there just for this picture. Oh well.

This photo is from January of 2009, about 3 months after I got my first Mac, a late 2008 MacBook Pro, 15-inch. The point of this picture was to show how different the brightness of the Mac's LED display was as compared to my CCFL-backlit Gateway monitor. This is, however, a good indication of what my workspace was like at the time. I absolutely loved the dual-monitor configuration, and I have kept it ever since.

This (blurry) picture is from July of 2009, shortly after moving into another apartment. This desk is actually comprised of two separate (really inexpensive—$30 each) desks which I put together in this L shape. It provided me with enough space for all my tech stuff, but also room for a working area as well. Bonus if you can identify the figure(s) without looking at the next picture. =P

February 2010. This is the last picture of this desk before I brought in my new, current glass one. I added the plant in late January of 2010, and I don't remember when I put that picture frame on it. I also added my print, on the wall behind the computer, seen in all shots afterwards. I really am quite fond of this desk, even though I replaced it.

This shot was published in Otacool3, and was taken in May of 2010. It shows my new (current) glass desk, as well as some new accessories, such as the completion of the primary cast of Lucky Star, Yui from K-On!, new glass shelf, a new spotlight on the wall, a new mouse and keyboard, and a stand for my Mac that makes it look like it's -floating-! ^_^

I moved again in August, finding myself this time in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This is the most recent picture of my workspace, taken in December 2010. Of note are the new lights, the longer shelf, and the full collection of K-On! figmas. I also switched out the plant on my desk with another one I had elsewhere. I got a new monitor stand as well, allowing me to rotate my monitor at will. The portrait orientation is really helpful for reading long articles, webcomics, and manga. I switch it to landscape when I want to watch something, or when I feel bad that Tsukasa and Miyuki are totally left out back behind it. That netbook also isn't always there, but was for this shot. Also, that thing leaning against my picture frame is a channel listing, so I can keep the SD and HD channels straight.
That brings to a close this rewind of my prior workspaces. I hope you've enjoyed this look back in my life, or at least found the pictures mildly amusing. ^^; If you happen to get inspired to take a look back at your own, leave a link to your post in the comments.

I miss this lamp. The base broke so I had to trow it out. =[
My old monitor, now my TV!
Good new lamp, but I miss my old one. ^^;;
Miyuki and Tsukasa say "Hello!" from out of site. Sorry, girls! ^^;;;
look at this badass!
I love how your room goes from disorganized and cluttered, to organized and spotless! Love your work space, it's super kick butt! X3
You are making me jealous... XD
What a nice work place....
It's always interesting to see how furniture styles and room layouts change over the years. It's quite obvious what the current trend nowadays is, simplistic yet effective, somewhat contemporary, airy and glassy furniture. Me likey very much. I'm personally thinking about revamping my entire room/desk to a more modern style. I really wouldn't mind owning a glass table like the one you have, and perhaps a glass shelf. Unfortunately my apartment has infinite amounts of dust because of carpets, making it impossible to keep figurines outside of my display case without them becoming smothered with dust in a week. Love your workplace, hope to see more interesting evolutions as time goes on! Thanks for sharing ^_^
Dust is my constant enemy. T____T
May I ask where you got the desk & spotlight from?
Looking forward to setting up a new room of mine myself.
and this is the style im going for :)
Absolutely! The desk is made of three pieces, all from Ikea, as well as the spotlight. The desk is made of two supports, and a glass table top. Each support was $30, and the glass top was $80. A little pricy, but really not horrible, considering how nice it is. The light was about $20 if I recall. I also have two $5 lights under the desk in the supports that provide the under-lighting. I'd be glad to help if you have any more questions. =]
Thank you! very helpful.
May i ask what type of lights they were?
cant really see in the picture!
