Current work in progress
After seeing all those MG Exia ignition post, I decided to find the time to start my own. I pre-ordered this kit from HLJ as soon as it was possible. I really like the overall design of Exia. I just started it and it will probably take me a few weeks to finish since I don't have that much time to spend on it sadly. Wanted to show you guys some progress and ask you all: Did you guys bother to paint the little Setsuna that comes with it? This is my first MG (I've been building models since 1992 and Gunplas since 2000 but never made a MG yet...) and I saw that many Gundam plamo from Bandai come with small pilots. Well, feel free to post some links to pics of your small pilots.

What do you guys think? I didn't have a magnifying glass, paint or brush to do him but manage to paint it with a tooth pick and some mixed paint from gundam markers.

very nice, you even placed an LED on the head..:D
I will probably have some troubles to hide the wires but I had to try! I just love to make my gunplas more alive by adding LEDs for their eyes...
how do you do it?it looks awesome..:D
maybe you could post you Work In Progress when you place LEDs on the head..^^
The first I did was a small 1/144 Gundam Wing Zero custom (bootleg I got from chinatown) to try if it would work. It's pretty simple. Did a 1/60 Wing Zero (normal non-PG version) next and continued on. I'll post some pics of the inner circuits and step to do in a few days. I have to say that all of this was made possible with the help of Danny's post on his PG Mark II USB LED trick. All of my modded models are USB compatible...lol You can check Wing Gundam there http://www.figure.fm/post/en/503/XXXG-01W+Wing+Gundam+1+100+HG.html and I'll probably take the 1/60 Wing Zero in a photo shoot soon to participate in the Bandai world competition.
I think you can mod the neck to directly allow the original Ignition Mode light unit to shine thru...
Woah, nice touch with led in the head ^^. To be honest I don't paint the little pilots that comes with MGs. No point painting what you can't see with all that armor on. Just my 2 cents.
lol That what I thought when I opened the hatch and saw that without a light in there I don't see the pilot at all!! For diaporamas it's kinda nice and brings some realism into it but with plamos it's kinda pointless. I like how my little Setsuna ended up look like but I don't think I'm gonna paint any more of those little pilots...hehehe
Good one mate! I look forward you fixing and hiding your wires. ^^
nice one love the led job nice really nice
love to see the end result of this mg. keep it up yo
the setsuna painted with a toothpick is epic
i also use toothpicks for inner frame detailing- im covering them up and i dont know why i do it- do you feel the same way about the pilot?
Yes I do feel the same way, but if the suit goes to combat and comes back battle-damaged you might be able to see those details and maybe the pilot coming out after is fight to breath some fresh air! No, seriously, like the pilot, painting inner details shows how much you like details and making gunplas.
nice work on the head LED - haven't painted a pilot for ages (along with a full kit) i think i just stick a couple of colours on them or a 'wash' to pick out the details.
