Cosplay Mania 2009 Loot
I've finally bought my very first Nendoroid - so I guess this is my very first figure-related post here! This is the nekomimi version of Izumi Konata; I bought her for myself at Cosplay Mania 2009 as a sort of advanced birthday present (I'll be 27 on the 28th of September). I'm so glad to have gotten her!
Picture shows Konata-chan partly unboxed at home. I couldn't wait to play with her!
Edited to add: Helpful commenters have pointed out that my Nendoroid Konata is a bootleg version. Oh well. I guess it will take me quite a while to find a real one yet.

And here are the other two items I got as loot from Cosplay Mania 2009: a medium-sized gray Totoro plush, and its brother a small blue Totoro. They're really very cute and cuddly. :)

I hope the box has a sticker on it ^^;; That Konata is a super popular bootleg
what sticker am I looking for? oh, no, if it really is a bootleg then no wonder it was cheap....huh, should I ask Danny to delete this entry then?
Technically, she still is a figure so there is no need to delete. Unfortunately, she appears to be a bootleg as all the official productions have stickers on their box designating what version it is.

The one you bought is a bootleg of the Comptiq Version of Konata which on average sells for well over $100 USD since they were exclusive mail-in orders several years ago.
(xx) The link seems to be off.
I took it off ebay. If you search "nendoroid" under 'Highest Priced' you should see some pictures for referencing.
thank you so much for the information...I'll update the blog and this post to include that.
No problem.
Be careful next time when purchasing nendoroids, especially popular ones. All the different exclusive versions of the Kagami and Konata nendoroids (Chara-Ani, HP and Comptiq) have bootlegs. If the box doesn't have a sticker and the price is suspiciously low then chances are it's a bootleg. It would also be best to do a little bit of research on figures you want to purchase to see if any bootlegs have been spotted and if there are comparison images. Here at DC or at other otaku sites (Tsukiboard I recommend as one of the best for everything related to figures) you can pretty much find any figure-related information or answers to questions you have.
there no need too delete bootleg still can be use as figure i think~~
I'm assuming you also got that from the shop with them stacks upon stacks of bootlegs :P It was cheap fun:P.
i got it from another booth, the one with only a few stocks of nendoroids and no figmas.
gosh, suddenly I feel so disappointed, wondering if I've been had.
i know how you feel when i bought my mikuru figma and it was bootleg. realizing this, i ended up throwing it out after giving a piece of my mind to the shop-owner who gave me his business card ( with no shop address, so i assumed his shop is only online) if the prices are too good to be true, it might be bootleg
I have the bootleg konata too, but actually ,I think is the more easy form to get one.
enjoy her ^^
oh yeah and china now is making Mikku miku kagami bootlegs, that dont looks "so bootleg"...
Oh well, at least you could have "spare parts" for your future authentic Nendos in the future. (if they could fit in the real ones..)
or maybe make a custom nendo if you're into figure modifying~~ ;)
As for me, i don't trust the nendos sold from some random shop in the phils unless it's from wasabi or great toys.
I'll have to keep those two merchants in mind for when I do decide to buy myself some genuine loot. :) thanks much.
i know how you felt after knowing its bootleg.. as pauldy says, wasabi or GT sells authentic ones..
i post something in your blog.. you may want to join us.. for you to have some insights on bootlegs.. :D
I've signed up for an account, thank you for the invite. looking forward to meeting you guys online (and, eventually, off...)
Love it!
The real Limited edition of Nendoroid Konata cost you a bomb :D
Ebay also the source of original and bootleg Nendoroid also, be extra careful.
Do not get tempted with cheap price, if you looking at ebay, be sure to find "GENUINE" or ORIGINAL" statement from the seller or something that saying about the nendoroid/figma is not a bootleg. If you cannot found this kind of word from the seller page, it mean the item is bootleg. Even the seller said "BRAND NEW" or "NIB" or "NEVER OPENED" it doesn't mean if the item is original.
when in doubt you can also mail the seller to mail you a picture of the actual box, and not stock pictures.
i was suppose to buy a miku nendroid during cosplay mania too~ but i doubted the price because it was too cheap compared to the prices posted on the online stores.
i know how it feels. When I found out that my kasumi(of DOA) figure a bootleg, my melted in agony but she's still a figure & it cost me money so i will not throw it but keep it to myself. I don't have a choice..i just look on the bright side.
Sucks about the bootleg... but the two Totoro are sweet~
Aww hun, *hugs* I was going to say congrats on your first Nendo... but yes, I was suspicious when I saw the entry, this Nendo is very popularly bootlegged. If you can get past the fact that it is bootleg, then don't worry about it, it happens to everyone at least once! My first Nendo was Mikuru and I got home and I was so happy to have gotten her for a cheap price, but upon closer inspection, I saw that she was fake ;-; Despite that, she looks almost exactly the same, so I put her up on display anyway, loving her all the same!
awww, the very first figure i bought was a bootleg. and not even a good one, so i totally feel your pain. but at least she is a cute bootleg.
If Konata was lower than... let's say 4k-5k PHP, she's most likely bootleg. ^^; I saw that exact nendoroid before Cosmania in a store near Megamall's Ace Hardware
If you're not so nitpicky about things like details and her paint job, I think you can still enjoy her as a nendoroid :3
Just remember that if you're buying Nendoroids in the Philippines, any Nendoroid that sells for less than 2K is already shady.
Also, notice the big difference in the print quality of the boxes.
Also, if you find a Nendoroid in eBay that costs less than Php1,000 if you convert the USD price to Philippine peso, that's ALSO a bootleg.
oh **BEEP** Maybe that Renji I bought for 50 dollars was a bootleg, or did they have a sale...? all my figures are atleast 45.00 or higher, since I pay for shipping and it was from www.bigbadtoystore.com and bought myself a few hundred dollar model kits from Gundam and Macross.
