Saber!? Well Kinda Sorta Maybe
So it's been about a month since the last Dolpla raffle ended and to alot of people Saber was their main agenda but idk the % but it seems to me more ppl lost the raffle than won it. So since i promised Hitomi~chan a sister i decided to use Goody Japan once again for Yahoo.jp auction. and from what i saw the majority of Saber lily were around 120,000yen to about 230,000 yen as opposed to the $3,400 one on ebay. so after some looking i found a few auctions for what i'm guessing a Saber look alike? or stripped version? or maybe an unofficial recreation of her but for alot less, i got this one for about 88,000 yen. In case anyone else is interested i believe i saw a few more but not 100% sure.
SO! what did it come with? nothing lol. the box which confuses me even more to whether or not this is a unofficial Saber or an actual Saber but just stripped down to just the doll itself. So i had to buy an outfit, wig etc.
Was it worth it? i'd say yes. I personally wouldn't have her in the OEM outfit, MAYBE a few pics with the sword or the armor but i'd have her 99.99% of the time in casual wear. Now to figure out a name.... hmmmmmm

Box looks official from other ppls posts.

Guess that's it lol

something i've been wanting to do, nipples lol. they came out pretty good the color in the pic is a lil off for some reason it's actually more pinkish than that.

I had to customize the wig since it was generic, i need to go over the bangs again, damn my DSLR for making the littleish blemishes show!

Hitomi finally has a sister!

Yeah looks perfectly legit, they've just taken everything else.
Looking good :)
ya it propably is legit, but a lot of sellers like to just keep parts of the package, and sell off the rest on action, on your case, the seller probably did say it was just the body and head only, but of cause being not Japanese, you wouldn't know that. but the price will tell you pretty much... if it's all over 120000Yen, and one of which is much cheaper, and the whole world bypassed it but you, i'm sure something has to be missing or it's used.
Yeah... I think that's a real Saber Lily... It looks JUST like her.
She looks legit to me. I like how you have her dressed, I just have one question tho: where did you find those headphones? :D
yahoo.jp auction, they were about $30 before shipping etc, they had those, all white with like light blue ear cushions and white with pink. THEY ACTUALLY WORK TOO lol i plugged it into my ipod and the sound was actually pretty good
The oppai look too shiny, which is not right. I think that when whoever painted on her "eyes" used far too much sealent, causing this shiny look. And most character Dollfie Dreams do not come with their "eyes" painted like this.
nah that was me lol i used that Volks UV coating spray to seal in the pastel
I was reading too quickly! T_T And I have used the UV Volks spray, and I honestly can tell you that you used way too much of it. When you use the Volks UV spray, you are just supposed to do a quick spray for each layer of color you use. It's supposed to leave a matte finish, not shiny like this. If it appears shiny like this, you've used FAR too much!
D:
It's okay though! I made that mistake when I first used the spray, and that's how I learned... and now I pass this knowledge on to you. It can be fixed, too! All you need to do is remove the bust from the Dollfie Dream (along with the arms, the skeleton inside of the bust, too), carefully dunk it in a 92% alcohol solution you can get at any first aid aisle, run under water and scrub with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (The original version)until all of the sealent (which would have turned white) is gone. This should remove the pastel as well. Once you do that, you dry off the bust with a paper towel. Once it's dry, you simply spray one quick coat of sealent, let it dry, then paint on the "eyes" with the pastels yet again. Once the "eyes" have been colored, apply one more quick coat of sealent, and that's it! I hope this helps you out some.
I've never dunked a vinyl in 92% alcohol myself. I suspect that's a lot faster then wiping it off with a watered down 70$ solution which is what I've been doing. Oh, one thing to note. Do NOT use colored Alcohol, make sure it's clear. D:
You use 1 coat? I usually used a couple but they're really light. I wait in between layers for it to dry first though. I'm surprised the ZM spray made it that shiny. XD
I have seen ZM spray do this. When I first started this hobby, I made a Dollfie 27cm model, and the head came out far too shiny because I over-sprayed the sealent. The next 27cm Dollfie I made, I did a quick spray, giving the doll a matte finish as the Volks Spray is intended to do.
The 92% alcohol solution I buy is completely clear. I get it from the first aid aisle of a store for about $3 for a large bottle. It's cheap, effective, and great for fixing face-up boo boos on a Dollfie Dream girl. You cannot use it on resin dolls, however. Only vinyl.
Interesting. I know 70% is fine on resin though. :P Thanks for the info!
He did that himself :p
Congrats on your new girl! Like everyone said, and me just throwing in my 2 cents it's legit minus the outfit and armor. Some sellers on Y!J do like to sell things separately so if you look around the other sections you'll probably find the armor and outfit she had initially came with.
yea i did and it's just asmuch as i paid for this lol
Yeah, I really feel for the people who didn't win the lottery for Lily and wanted her. Her value jumped as soon as she was released from the retail price of around 1,000 to 1,500-2,000 because people knew that she was in high demand and the price is sticking because that's now her value and I doubt it will go down. The DD world is very cruel at times.
That's normal.. sometimes prices drop after awhile and then shoot up again I've noticed, but I don't know if it will this time or not. I'm happy they rereleased her mold though. :D
Cutting wigs is a pain. I am planning on trying out some blending shears at some point to see if it might help this uneven-ness problem (hard to explain, hopefully you understand). Most hair stylists use razors, and I'm too afraid to try that. x.x; Frankly, it's not a bad cut for first go at it.
I'm always happy to see people get the dolls they really want. <3
Thanks! well i actually used those volks hair cutters it's like a mini scissor with a normal size manipulator, they're like razor sharp too so cuts extremely easily
I'm sure they work better then the $1 scissors I used on the other wigs I've cut. XD
Actually, Saber Lily is a new head mold. She's similar to the original Saber, but Volks lists her head mold as "Saber Lily" and not "Saber".
hey did your post post immediately? i just posted something a day ago and it hasn't posted.
yep, once the pics finished uploading the page popd up
Sounds like you bought a Saber Lily in which the owner just wanted all of her wig, gear, and accessories to me. So you just ended up with the doll itself. Chances are the seller may have even been selling the gear in a separate auction, as that isn't uncommon either.
The box says Fate/Unlimited Codes.
So it might be an original Saber with just some missing parts.
Ah, when someone sells only part of a fullset it's called a split. With some resin dolls, like Soom's fantasy limiteds, splits can get rather complicated due to the extra parts. For DDs, it's usually a matter of clothes versus the doll itself.
Anyway, congrats!
Congrats! Hitomi and her looks great together. I really like their outfits ♥
Probably an auction for the head & body alone, saw quite a few on YJA last time I checked.
Congratulations ! Definitively authentic !
Congrat with your new girl, seems real to me ^^
Congrats!^^
Congrats!
There's DD's sold without their accessories all the time on YJA, usually look for "head+body (ヘッド+ボディ)" or "head+eye+body (ヘッド+アイ+ボディ) in the auction title, meaning it's only the head and body without wig and clothes being sold.
