Famitsu's American Otaku Survey

I meant to post this yesterday but I didn't get the chance to get on. (school work took longer then I thought)
I figured this might be somewhat interesting so I thought I'd post it. Or at the very least a way to kill a few minutes. (First time using the new uploader)
So if this kind of thing interests you then take a look.
Famitsu in collaboration with Otaku USA magazine conducted a survey earlier this year asking American otaku about anime and games.
This was done as one Famitsu's articles to show there readers what "foreign otaku" are like. Otaku USA held the survey on there website and polled a total of 800 American Otaku. The results of the survey were published in the latest issue of Famitsu.

Nice i enjoyed reading what the American Otaku likes ^_^
hmm. I do like Evangelion and Full Metal Alchemist but I either haven't seen or just kind of liked the rest.
As an American, my list would have been like this (in no order)
Favorite Anime
1.) Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha/A's
2.) Mahoromatic Automatic Maiden
3.) Neon Genesis Evangelion
4.) Da Capo and Da Capo S.S.
5.) Aria the animation/natural/origins
6.) Hayate no Gotoku
7.) Full Metal Alchemist
8.) Air the Movie
9.) Full Metal Panic The Second Raid
10.) Rozen Maiden
Favorite Games
1.) Xenogears
2.) Suikoden II and IV
3.) Xenosaga 1-3
4.) Ar Tonelico
5.) Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time
6.) Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask
7.) Lunar Silver Star Story
8.) Lunar Eternal Blue
9.) Valkyrie Profile
10.) Atlier Iris Eterna Mana (and its sequels)
Typo. I didn't really like Suikoden IV. Meant to write Suikoden V, which had many elements that made Suikoden II so good.
You win for mentioning ARIA. It would be on the top of mine. ^^;
Ah, not really surprised at the way the results came out (or the comments that came of them). Mainstream American anime is pretty much dominated by SJ stuff and there's less (sadly) appreciation for things outside of that. Interesting read, nonetheless.
I wonder how many of those votes for "The Legend of Zelda" were actually intended to refer specifically to the first game, or if they were meant to mean the series as a whole. I think the latter seems more likely.
Maybe it's just because they don't have moe characters, but that list kind of sucks. I like Evangelion, FLCL and Geass, but I'm not sure any would be on my top ten... (maybe FLCL though, that was super rad.)
“Naruto changed my life! I never used to stand out, or really have any friends, but now I’m different!” - This kind of amused me. When I think of anime fans, often I think (or want to) that most are people like me, who kind of sits in the background, who believes so much in 2D > 3D, that they don't even want to be around real people... maybe I'm just a little bit crazy, but I can't really think of an anime making lots of friends for someone, except maybe online? I got the feeling that person was referring to IRL. But, whatever, if it's made friends for this person, good for them.
I'm pretty disappointed at how all this stuff is basically shounen. No shoujo, no school-life or slice-of-life at all. I watch everything and I find many of the classic goodness is in those.
