Week of loot. 01/17-01/21. nearing one grand.
Spent quite a bit recently, but got some nice items, loot list.....
Mio's AKG K701 white $269. (yes, I bought it because Mio has it, and no other reason) and bought it new because use headphones often have too much "skinship" with previous owner. It sounds very nice with the $8 Fiio amp that I bought on Amazon, but I still prefer my in-ear, probably because Im used to it~ (and this headphone drains power)

Olympus E-450 DSLR with 14-42mm lens, 4gb CF card $420~ (Last five pictures are taken using DSLR, rest with my tx7)
before I get flamed again. I don't expect to "magically" be able to take great photos. I bought a DSLR mainly because I want
to learn it, as it has greater limits then standard point-and-shoot.
Im already liking the pictures it produce, really nice and clear.

Haha grats. :) I'm actually listening on my AKG 701s now. They're really good will probably improve the sound quality of anything you're listening to. The exception would probably be in very bass heavy music like hip hop. It's not bad at it, it's just not made for that.
To get the most out of them I'd recommend a DAC (Digital Audio Convertor) eventually if you listen to music from your computer. Finally, these headphones really do change the more they're played. Give them 100-200 hours of playtime and things kinda fall in place.
Ultimately, they're yours so enjoy them however you want. ^^
They already sound great, although I need to almost max my volume (when not using an amp)
but they are very comfortable when laying in bed listening to music. Fully surrounded by softness :)
I heard they will sound better after burn-in period too~ on my way to find that out
What I did was plug in an old ipod nano and played music at like 75% volume every morning when I left for work. Came home like 10-12 hours later, iPod is out of battery so I recharge as I sleep and repeat this for about 2 weeks. I listened to music when I got home also but I let it do the burn-in on high speed mode haha.
I have a desktop tube amp which is AC powered and I max volume on desktop, 75% volume on iTunes and only 25% volume on the amp. Without an amp I also would just about max out the volume. It is surprisingly good even on an iPhone by itself. (I can hear the audiophiles plotting to kill me for saying that haha)
I agree! These are the most comfortable headphones I've ever used. I've owned a lot of cheaper ones and also a pair of the original Beats. But I love these the most for quality and comfort.
This is my second pair of headphones (first one was some $15 wireless that sounded terrible xD)
But I've owned a bunch of ear buds. Currently using Monster turbine that I got on-sale at amazon. Sounds rather amazing and fits better (for me) then other in-ear earbuds I've used

I really like the design, size, sleekness of this amp~ although Im sure most amps are more powerful then this one :P
will probably pick up a better one little later (when I find one on sale that is) Im cheap like that :P
cheap!?! those are expensive, you should get a nice amp to complement them. Fiio is a nice brand perhaps you should invest in the 20$ e5, it's better and rechargeable and saves you some money on the batteries.
these will work for now, will pick up a better one in the near future~~ will be rather busy and out a lot these few weeks so probably won't have much chance to listen to them~

Congrats on getting a DSLR. Have fun learning and messing around with it.
You're definitely going to need a proper desktop amp for those headphones, that little Fiio isn't going to deliver the kind of juice that the K701 needs. I recommend heading over to http://www.head-fi.org/forum/ and doing some research.
I almost bought the k701 headphones. A guy at my programming Lectures has them and they're so comfortable. Not to mention the fact that mio own s a pair ^.^ mio mai waifu <3 we shall both rock our left handed bass guitars into the night! As a student though I have no money to buy headphones atm ;_;

he's convinced that beat by dr dre are the best headphones ever so he'll buy those and not these ._. :P

._. Hope you find some proper amp for your K701 soon.. They're are one of the hardest pair and amp headphones, and their forte is classical music. (:X was an audiophile before sort of quitting and became a figure collector instead. Can't even afford a single thing back then orz)
