Lina Inverse Color Resin Kit by Volks

Posted about receiving this kit earlier. I finally finished putting it together this morning. I took a few pictures as I went that I thought I would share. It was quite tedious, but I had a lot of fun. Learned a little bit while I was at it, and unfortunately it shows in places.

Laying everything out to begin.

Every single piece had these little tabs that I had to trim off.

Fortunately, the eyes were decals. I'm not very artistic, so I'm glad I didn't have to paint them on.
Why there were two sets of decals and two heads, I'm not sure. One of the heads didn't have hollow eye sockets, so I guess that was for if I actually wanted to paint them on, or just apply the decals straight to the head?

This was where I stopped at the end of the first night. She's starting to take shape!

Some of these parts were extremely tiny. Not very fat-finger-friendly, even with tweezers.

Every single part that is a different color is an individual part that had to be cut, trimmed, and glued.

This was the end of the second night. As I was working on her, I was learning what amounts of glue to apply where. Unfortunately, some of my lessons are visible, like on her neck from trying to glue that super tiny green jewel to her collar.

Built and painted the cape. This ended up being the only painting involved in building this kit. The finished product on the box shows her with little painted on blush marks on her cheeks. I don't think I'm going to try my hand at that.

I know there's a seam on her leg. I tried to sand it down, but the more I tried, the worse it looked. Tried various grains of paper, but it didn't seem to matter. Maybe I'm just not patient enough...

And here she stands completed with the rest of her friends. I'm going to need to invest in a display case soon at this rate.
That was a lot of fun. I'd like to build more, but there don't seem to be a lot of color kits out there, especially of characters that I'd want to collect.

Nice work, if this was your first attempt at a resin kit then really well done, my first kit looked like a train wreck.

I bought this kit the first day it was released ^^
Still in the box though, I want to make sure I have more than plenty of time when I build it so I don't mess it up!

There's probably 2 sets of decals in case you mess up one by accident. The head with the hollow eye sockets is to assemble with the molded eyelashes and to apply decals, I guess for beginners or "lazy people". The head without the hollow sockets is probably for those experts and purists that like to paint all the details (eyes, eyelashes and everything) by themselves. It's kind of cool that they gave both options. (I might try experiments on the 2nd head hehehehe)

Can I ask what kind of glue you used? Is liquid type or gel type better? And are there some parts that hold well together without requiring any glue? (like hear head for example)

It's strange the seamlines on her legs didn't sand down well, but uh, it could pass for the seams in her pants or something I guess.

Nice touch with the cape paint. It's nice to see her standing next to your other figures! Any other special recommendations you would make on building this kit? ^^

I used CA glue, which I found out is really just super glue. I got some at a local hobby shop along with a spray can of accelerator, which basically makes the glue cure instantly. Extremely frightening stuff, but it came in very hand for some of the really tiny pieces that I couldn't very well hold in place while waiting for the glue to set, since I'd have ended up gluing it to my fingers. I actually did glue her head to my hand by accident pretty early on. Fingernail polish remover will break the bond fairly painlessly.
Her head is actually not glued in because you're supposed to be able to remove it to take the cape off if you wanted to display her that way. As for recommendations, be careful of what you trim off. There was a piece or two that I trimmed the tabs off that were supposed to help guide the connection with other pieces because I mistook them as extra resin. Kind of a "learn as you go" thing for me. If I build another kit, I'll know better what to look for. :3

Also, after looking at the box again, they've painted extra eye lashes at the bottoms of her eyes. It's a bit late for that now. Probably would have tried it if I'd noticed anyway.

CA Glue with spray accelerator to make it cure super fast.
It's really just super glue for models.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure super glue and CA glue is the same thing.
          It's also called Cyanoacrylate.

Yey! thanks! hey, another question I have is about the product that is drawn on the instruction guide (step 1, it seems a spray¿?) where Lina parts are in a container
